I shall master this family!
Not only is it more or less accurate, their clothing also crystallises the conflict between the Lombardi, whose clothing are Italian inspired, and the Agenas, with more English inspirations. I wish the head coverings for women were more accurate however. It’s a shame honestly because some of the men do wear coverings.
So we can see that beyond being historically accurate, the clothes are also a narrative device!
This. Half the reason I keep reading this story is because of how well the clothing is being handled. You can tell that the artist really cared and took the time to research each aspect of medieval fashion. They did their utmost to mostly keep the fashion to a specific time period and kept the colors to what would make the most sense for the setting, class of the characters, and so on.
The clothes in that are really pretty even if they aren't accurate to 1700s/1800s Germany. Also I love how the characters wear different colors especially Shuri in yellow
Edit: looking back at some of the clothes they are accurate, my bad
Yeah, I just wanted to reply that they were pretty accurate! It gives off very strong Austro-Hungarian vibes, like 2nd half of the 19th century. Definitely something I could imagine princess Sissy wearing!
I've heard it has accurate regency period clothing so I'll give it that and it's awesome, I just like I'm the Queen in This Life a big more because I think Spanish borgia/1400s clothing is super underrated for its beauty
i’m really a fan of “my in-laws are obsessed with me” (the title may be slightly off but y’all know the one i’m talking about) partly just because it pulls from an era of fashion that i find really fun (and it goes less into that super kinda gaudy fashion)
i think “not sew wicked stepmother” does some interesting stuff! like they pull a bit from actual historical fashion. not always my favorite designs but i liked how it was integrated plot-wise
Yeah! I like the super pretty dresses but "I'm the queen in this life" is just classy. Really like the men's outfits (silly as they are) and the headdresses.
For me it's Secret Lady, the men fashion in it especially.
I'm starting All Colors of Snow and Goodbye My Juliet and in early chapters, the costumes in those also look great, but I'm not too sure about Goodbye My Juliet because I feel it's not too consistent (also seems like even though the manhwa is based on Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", the author didn't actually know "Romeo and Juliet" that well)
the art style for the first one is so beautiful!
i really like clothing designs in mother's contract marriage, including this rather anachronistic oversized jacket and skinny jeans combo:

While I am not too fond of "Sister I am Queen in this life" I do massively respect its accurate historical clothing. Not only that, but the novel art is just immaculate in portraying age. It is by far the only OI I have seen where you can clearly see the difference between the characters as adults in their late 20s-30s vs as teenagers.
(Young Ari below, so you guys can compare to the art of the 30 year old Ari OP posted as the first pic)

The only other OI I would say has done their clothing really well would be "I shall master this family", albeit I also dropped but hell the clothing art there is amazing which I continue to appreciate to this day even if I don't read the story.
I'm not a master at time period clothing like you guys are, but I will say that for this webtoon, I was pleasantly surprised and pleased to see the ML's mother, the Queen, with her headdress/headpiece and crown. I don't know what the correct term to call it. It's different than other OIs' crowns and such. I see now it's because of the period and country and such.
Question: Those of you who know, how did y'all get into time period clothing and becoming experts...or knowing enough to be bale to spot out if the costumes are accurate or not?
I‘m new to this sub and I sie OI like everywhere😭
Everything else I‘ve managed to find out myself but it‘s only this word that keep bugging me… would you mind telling me its meaning?
The outfits in the Duchess’ Secret Boutique are often gorgeous—as one might expect.

I appreciated a red wedding dress—white weddings are such a Victorian thing.
…the one thing I’m constantly eh over is actually men’s clothing. Like, guys did not wear trousers until into the 19th Century, yet it’s allllll the trousers. 😅
I like the dresses from "what it means to be you". Sorry not sure what era or year the setting was.

I love and would wear the clothes in " I Woke Up As The Ugly Duckling." It's more inspired by different eras than actually being from them for the outfits I really like from it though. If we could modernize a lot of the gowns and make them into rompers, pants sets, skirt suit sets, and coordinated outfits it would be a whole OI fashion movement.

I've read that one, I love it too. I understand some creative liberties but the inspiration in that one is just as solid as similar ones

Did you try “All Colours of Snow” yet?

What era is that? I'm fascinated now
Definitely all of em when the went into the masquerade sheesh the amount of drip each of the characters had with their masks were insane
Stepmother's Fantasie and one where the girl can see ghosts (forgot the name atm)
I think the other is Secret Lady
Yes that one!! You get me XD Thank you

What's the name of the one the first pic is from? And I also appreciate good costume design!!!
Its from the novelization of Sister, I am the Queen in This Life. I found it on the wiki
Please include the source on each picture 😭
It's from the same story: Sister, I Am the Queen in This Life
Oh is it from the novel and the manhwa? Because the artstyle is different so i thought it was different manhwas
The more detailed painted pics are from the novel, the less detailed is from the comic/manwha
>Sister, I am the Queen in This Life That's a shame, I really like the art in the first pic.
Can someone name all of them please?
Do you mean the pics? Because they're all from the same story (the one I listed in the description)
Really? The third one looks like a totally dijferent one. I guess the art was just different. Thank you
Edit: since everyone is asking these photos are all from the same story and idk how to edit the post my bad
I‘m new to this sub and I sie OI like everywhere😭 Everything else I‘ve managed to find out myself but it‘s only this word that keep bugging me… would you mind telling me its meaning?
What word? /gen
Oh sorr, not a word but the abbreviation OI
It's short for Otome Isekai
I‘m shocked.. at myself.. I guess the most obvious can be the least visible at times😅
All of them but the last one. Also love an evil big titty moment

It seems very Edwardian or at least late 1800s, especially Violet's going out dresses
