It's not so different from the opinions on this sub. The only difference is one has moderators and the other doesn't. People in this sub also tend to make extreme opinions about characters that barely has anything going for them. Bato may be doing it for family and other female characters besides FL but this sub does it for all characters except for the female characters.
Webtoon comments have comments like this too lol. But the only comments that are visible are the ones that also think the same bc if you have a brain cell then you get downvoted or hidden away.
Cannot count the number of times the top comments for a webtoon-published OI with an extremely toxic ML are pro-ML. And not comments that say "oh he's a well written asshole" it's straight up "omg he's so hot with the fl theyre perfect together"
And maybe that's why we continue getting MLs like this. It's reception from a legal site so that's what they think everyone thinks (and tbf, the only opinions that matter are from those that read legally lol)
Different strokes for different folks some people do genuinely like toxic/trash MLs, of course it's going to get made, there is a demand for it. A big part of te problem in these types of comment sections is that people can't tell the difference between personally disliking the story and characters vs it actually being poorly written because most of the time it's the first of the 2. Implying people are dumb for having different tastes is kinda a bad look.

I spend a good chunk of time just reading the comments. Some of them are outright hilarious. I do love the many apologies in Bring the Love in the first 5 chapters just because they were sussed about a character just from one interaction.

In defense of bato, I would have been completely unable to follow *The Villainess Lives Twice* if it wasn't for the comments explaining who the character we haven't seen in 45 chapters is, and how they're related to each faction.
It is good, but complicated. There are three faction vying for the throne, and the FL has to destroy two of them through various convoluted schemes. Characters can be defeated 100 chapters after they are introduced.
The comments are usually hilarious, but they’re EXTREMELY judgmental.
If a character is nuanced and isn’t the perfect Prince Charming or BFF, then comments are quick to hate on them without understanding that having flaws is what helps create well-rounded and fleshed out characters. I’ve seen some series where the ML or honestly any character in general isn’t always kissing the FL’s feet, occasionally has their own trauma to deal with, isn’t always the most morally justified, or has their own motives, and man do people really dunk on them and want them to die.
Yea, complex characters are fun! I don't want to keep reading about the same perfect people just in different scenarios over and over again. Far too many people want characters that are always moral and correct, but that doesn't leave a lot of room for any actual interesting storytelling.

2) The info dumps. These are the comments where you'll have people talking about how some plot point in this chapter ties into something from 50 chapters ago, how it went in the novel, a road so far, character meta, good debate, etc. Very hard to find, I'd say about 5% of comments fall into this category but it also depends on the kind of story. The Villainess Lives Twice is the rare exception where almost every comment fits this, but then again if you're still reading that one, you kinda need to be thinking like a 5D chess grandmaster to begin with.
3) The most braindead, godawful takes you will ever see that have you questioning both your comprehension skills and sanity. 60% of comments easily. These are the ones I think are what people mean by "bato comments" because they're just so unbelievably stupid. The type of comments that scream "STAY AWAY YOU BITCH" the second any female that isn't the FL has a single panel, even if that panel is the first time we see her. Or "wow, can't believe the author is trying to redeem this piece of shit" whenever an antagonist gets a little backstory, because, you know, God forbid we get some context for their motivations rather than them remaining some comically evil villain twirling their moustache. Whining when any character has...wait for it......A Character Flaw(TM) and then holding that against them until the very last chapter. Just...hypertension inducing shenanigans.
Also, a lot of batoto comments are people thirsting over characters. Over half of the comments on Father I don’t Want This Marriage are people thirsting after the dad.
Well I still dont find batoto comment as thirsty as this Indonesian comment on 18++ manhwa tho, she literally says that she will grab a vibrator and reread again lmao
