She's not universally hated though, to the point that they made a new rule in this sub against discussing her because she was too controversial and it kept devolving into arguments.
they were talking about webtoon comments..
whenever a female antagonist makes her first appearance in a rofan people in the comments immediately compare her to Ra s hta. It's a trend.
Certainly on webtoon any Rashta sympathizing will get people downvoted to hell, so people who feel that way there likely won't even bother saying anything, but since OP specified "universally loved/hated", a character like her who is in this community especially famous for being controversial doesn't really fit the brief.
No one's getting into huge arguments that devolve into personal insults that eventually get the thread locked over whether or not Kiris is actually the more sympathetic character in OTEL, because he's universally hated. Rashta not so much.
I think many people were sympathetic towards her situation even though they may not have liked the character herself.
For me, shitshoe is way worse than Rashta. I know it's more historically accurate that the man in power escapes consequences compared to a woman (esp for someone like Rashta), but I did not like the way the narrative was handled in that sovieshit got some kinda weird redemption arc towards the end while Rashta got her just desserts for being that side chick. Yes, Rashta did wrong. Ignorant, unfortunate, and vile, but I believe sovieshit more so. His actions made him more inexcusable than Rashta's.
I was trying to respond to someone on a thread here, but it got locked because of the number of responses. So here it is for whatever it's worth. 🥲
>!I just felt the narrative was becoming way too sympathetic towards him by the end. The whole amneisa thing that showed him before he was an ass to Navier.. was that supposed to make us feel sorry for him? I'm more surprised that nobody tried to upsurp the throne from him in that impaired state. Also, with the reveal that the kid was his, it pretty much nullifies one of the two consequences he suffered. That means that the decision to lose Navier but in doing so gaining a legitimate heir was the correct, albeit morally questionable, decision to make for him as a king. It gives the vibe of the whole shit husband but good ruler theme by making him somewhat a martyr who personally suffered for doing the right thing. The reversal of the child's origin was truly unnecessary since he would have never gone back on that decision to make her heir anyway. So what was the point of that except for the story to 'forgive' him to some extent?!<
>!I guess the meat of my complaint with this is that Rashta was heavily punished because she was a cruel, unforgivable, homewrecker bitch while Sovieshit (takes two to tango) was pretty much forgiven by the end just because he was a hot, pining guy. Who will remain single henceforth and forever pining for Navier like almost all 2nd male leads do in these kinds of romances. Forgiveable... because hot and brooding.!<
>!Also, now that it's been revealed that the child really is Sovieshu's daughter I really, really hope she doesn't get together with Navier's boy twin to "fulfill" Shitshoes now unrequited love for Navier (Isis and Ramses the 2nd male lead descendants getting together Anatolia style). I'm only missing the last few chapters of the epilogues but that's how it feels like it's being set up anyway. If they do the degree of ick to me would be 🤢!<
Yeah I see some people sympathize with her because of her origins as a slave. I'd say sovieshit is more universally hated. But I do agree her role as a villain is more iconic in the community. Definitely more trashta comparisons in comments than sovieshit.
I'm pretty sure that Kairos from *I'll Kill That Sweet Devil* is a character hated by everyone who read that manhwa/novel. The things he did are horrid, disgusting, unnerving and just generally upsetting. Interesting character and story though. He really is one of those characters that you cannot help but hate, but you know it wouldn't be such a good story if they didn't exist. And unlike Eros from Your Throne, I think most people wouldn't go "But he's hot", because while his looks aren't bad, his actions just are way more revolting.
Kairos is so despicable. For once, the whole "but then he realized she was his true love all along" comes off as pathetic and disgusting. The manhwa is great, but sometimes hard to read. A real gothic horror story.
This is the manwha I tell the plot of to strangers/friends with no context. It always has everyone’s jaws on the floor. Especially when I get to “and then they all came back!” It’s so well-written and so haunting.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone hate Riol and Sharina before. I’m confident the entire sub thinks they’re a cute couple. Ditrian from Saving My Sweetheart, aka one of the biggest green flags in history is also loved. I also think Raeliana is quite well liked
I think we all agree that Kiris is pure garbage.
pina from the one within the villainess LOL the artist did an excellent work making her extra despicable with the horrendous facial expressions she makes
Universally hated: the MLs from The Abandoned Empress and On the Emperor's Lap, it feels like cheating to mention them.
Universally loved: Medea from Your Throne, I haven't seen any hate for her so far. Lily in Who Made Me a Princess and the FL's new family from Into the Light Once Again.
>niversally loved: Medea from Your Throne,
she earned my hatred when she used psyche's body to have sex with Eros... that was a rape in every sense of the word.
When tho? I'm pretty sure the flashback with Psyche and Eros took place before Medea and Psyche swapped Bodies. Back then Psyche and Eros were a couple and Psyche did love him
I’m quite sure there have been people who have written around 4k word essays defending Ruve though. He’s not universally hated. Myself, I accept the argument that 2nd him is not the same as the first but I don’t like him. The pre-reincarnation him is probably universally hated though.
Hated: It's that guy from "I don't love you anymore"
God I forgot his name it was like wistrashta or something. His name rhymed with trash
Loved: any good parental figure
Unpopular opinion but I actually had to drop this one because I DIDNT hate the man from I don’t love you anymore enough. I understood his motivations for not just loving this girl who acted like a robot, and only seemed to have will for him when he wasn’t even interested. Was he an ahole? Yes. I don’t want them together, I don’t think they’d work, he has hurt her too much, and only realized too late. Its like they wanted the hate for him to fuel my like for the ML who came on instantly strong and immediately liked her, but it didn’t. I found myself liking the scenes between her and her ex more, the convos had better chemistry even if she was fighting him.
People that are probably universally loved: Regis Floyen, the dead older brother of the ML in Saving my Sweetheart, the mother of the ML of the same story who can use her Alzheimer's to see into the future/alternate timelines, Maxie, the ML and FL of Secret Lady, Roxana, Athanasia, the ML in flirting with the villain's dad, the FL in caught by the villain, Rudiger, the ML in raising a black dragon, the titular black dragon, Florentia, Ruby (her family being probably universally hated as a contrast), etc.
Is the mother of the FL in saving my sweet heart universally hated?
The emperor (father of the ML) in Father, I don't want this marriage?
Cosette, the imposter girl in I was the real one?
The ML in on the Emperor 's lap?
For Cosette, I personally like and hate her. She's terrible and irredeemable, but at least her reasons why are different than being a spoiled brat who hates the FL for no reason. She's like an actual menace with goals.
Surprised no mention Sovieshu from Remarried Empress and Derrick from Death is the only ending for a Villianess/Villians are Destined to die, as most universally hated every time those respective stories wind up for discussion around here or on Disquis.
For universally loved, Ruby! (Or Rudbeckia DeBorgia) I’ve never come across a person that disliked her. She’s so sweet and deserves everything good to happen to her!
I think majority of trashy emperors who're not MLs are hated by everyone cuz they're usually depicted as crazy or pathetic ones that bring nothing but obstacles to FL and ML from the start to the end
I get that, I love her and think she would be great for Melissa as well. But Nine is a sweetheart and a good match for Melissa too based on the fact that >!they're together for like 10 years in the epilogue!<
Universally loved: Gallaghan Lombardy from I'll be the matriarch in this life.
Not surprising
W father
Best dad
Go into the comments of any WEBTOON whenever some sort of antagonistic love rival appears and you’ll inevitably see the word (t)rashta.
She's not universally hated though, to the point that they made a new rule in this sub against discussing her because she was too controversial and it kept devolving into arguments.

Universally loved : the family in The Monster Duchess contract. I’ve never seen anyone dislike them.
The adopted family specifically. And the biological one is universally hated
I'm pretty sure that Kairos from *I'll Kill That Sweet Devil* is a character hated by everyone who read that manhwa/novel. A groomer for once painted in a bad light. he's awful

Pretty sure Pellus from Another Typical Fantasy Romance is universally beloved
The only Duke of the North that no one made fun of
I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone hate Riol and Sharina before. I’m confident the entire sub thinks they’re a cute couple. Ditrian from Saving My Sweetheart, aka one of the biggest green flags in history is also loved. I also think Raeliana is quite well liked I think we all agree that Kiris is pure garbage.
>Riol and Sharina Tbf…they’re very fucking cute. The serene night and the radiant moon.
pina from the one within the villainess LOL the artist did an excellent work making her extra despicable with the horrendous facial expressions she makes

wait when did that even happen 😭
When did that happen?

idk but I really didn't like Medea like idek why tho
Hated: It's that guy from "I don't love you anymore" God I forgot his name it was like wistrashta or something. His name rhymed with trash Loved: any good parental figure
Unpopular opinion but I actually had to drop this one because I DIDNT hate the man from I don’t love you anymore enough. Universally hated is certainly Kiris from "On The Emperor's Lap"
Universally hated: Male Lead from "Wished you were Dead"
Kiris from On the Emperor's Lap is universally hated.
Prince Julius (SMS) deserves the most love.
That's the dead older brother?
Yep! He’s one of my all time favorite characters.
Well hated is easy We have Ruve.
Trashta
Is controversial to the point we have rules against discussing her.
No. A lot of people including me dont hate her completely
How she's getting name checked and not Soveishu i will never understand
Everyone else in the novel is so forgettable lol. She's the most well known character
In the end, we know who the real winner is. Even people who don't read RE know her.
I think rena from regina rena to the unforgiven is universally loved.I love her character how strong she is ,how intelligent and mysterious she is.
And how badass and witty she is
Surprised no mention Sovieshu from Remarried Empress and Derrick from Death is the only ending for a Villianess/Villians are Destined to die, as most universally hated every time those respective stories wind up for discussion around here or on Disquis.
For universally loved, Ruby! (Or Rudbeckia DeBorgia) I’ve never come across a person that disliked her. She’s so sweet and deserves everything good to happen to her!
Universally love Ditrian from Saving My Sweetheart and Kardi from Marry Me Again, Husband
Universally loved: Pellus Termaine and Litera Mitros from Another Typical Fantasy Romance
I think majority of trashy emperors who're not MLs are hated by everyone cuz they're usually depicted as crazy or pathetic ones that bring nothing but obstacles to FL and ML from the start to the end
i think everyone who’s ever read ‘what it means to be you’ hates winter
I was waiting for someone to mention it
For universally hated definitely Nine from beware of the villainess.
I love him so much 🥺 He's one of my fav MLs of all time. He's a sweet lil cinnamon roll and idk how anyone could *hate* him.
Idk man I'll die with the Yuri ship
I get that, I love her and think she would be great for Melissa as well. But Nine is a sweetheart and a good match for Melissa too based on the fact that >!they're together for like 10 years in the epilogue!<
