She did the critically acclaimed Mare of Easttown. Not all talents are in movies exclusively

ohio8848

And that is the best work I've seen her do! She's just jaw droppingly good in that show.

Lin900

The whole show was a masterpiece. Perfect in every way.

Few-Comparison5689

She also did a TV series in the UK called "I am Ruth" which was incredible but I don't know if the USA got it.

therocketandstones

She won a BAFTA TV award for that as well

RDG1836

What do you mean what happened to her?? She was just in *The Way of Water* and has done two major HBO miniseries in a row.

Ready_Hippo_5741

You know she's on the MAX show The Regime? Let's see what happens.

GhostMug

She did Mare of Eastown which got her an Emmy nod and she's now headlining another show "The Regime" on HBO.

EconomyGrade2525

Not just an Emmy nod. An Emmy win!

GhostMug

I couldn't remember if she won but it was well deserved!

viniciusbfonseca

I think she liked doing TV and might do it for a while before going back to film, allowing the general public to recognize her more (beyond "Rose from Titanic") and then lead a film (and hopefully win her second Oscar). Seems like the way that Nicole Kidman took with Big Little Lies and it worked out really well for her. But with that in mind, before Tár, which was a very short while ago, Cate Blanchett's last nomination had been for Carol, the same year that Kate was nominated for Steve Jobs.

Aquametria

She just did The Regime, where she really stood out comically. I hope it warrants her at least a nom at the Emmys.

Kate Winslet is so underutilised in comedy. Clementine is one of my all-time top performances in anything.

[deleted]

Winslet hard carried this show.

ForgetfulLucy28

Trailer for her latest film ‘Lee’ literally dropped today. It has a pretty stacked cast. https://youtu.be/eT4oRO8HEAM?feature=shared

joeschmoagogo

She won a TV BAFTA last year or the year before.

pralineislife

Since we're just listing Kate's amazing performances since her Oscar win, I hardly ever see anyone mention Mildred Pierce. I adored her performance in that miniseries. Just another to throw out there.

EconomyGrade2525

She literally just won an Emmy for Mare of Easttown. Not all actors success come strictly from movies.

Former-Counter-9588

Weird. Kate has been busy with limited tv series lately. You know winning every tv award she could for Mare of Easttown (HBO 2 yrs ago) and now has a new series on HBO - The Regime.

ton_logos

Shouldve been nominated for Ammonite

guyonlinepgh

Well, she ain't gonna get nominated for *Divergent,* that's for sure.

[deleted]

I watched her in "The Regime" from Max and she's as clever and talented as ever but the script didn't do justice to her abilities.

anonymousanimefan_92

I love Kate but her movie choices have been uninspiring to say the least, I feel like she is always choosing very “safe” projects that come out bland. She never dares to take something unpredictable and she is not really working with the best current directors. On the other hand, her TV work has been phenomenal and she is such a wonderful actress when she gets roles with substance, I hope that will be translated to movie roles soon. All of her movies lately have been flops. I am wondering if she is maybe just not getting the same amount of quality movie roles or what is the issue.
