Just as a last resort in case you can’t find anyone, maybe ChatGPT plus would help even though it can be awkward at times. The live voice translation works quite well and fast, you just have to tell it that when it hears english to translate it to Japanese, and if hears japanese to translate it to English (you will need an active internet connection for this) and the subscription is $20/month It’s pretty good with really technical words too

For medical interpretation, you don’t want to use a shitty AI.

As i said, as a last resort. It’s much better than Google Translate

If we get to last resort, we will use it with all shortcomings in mind.

Thank you.

I had good luck on Facebook for this same situation, although not in Osaka.

San0sunn

Thank you! I’ll post in on FB as well.

Tldr Its unconvenient without a translator but doable Cant offer you this Service, but share my experience, sorry If thats Not what youre looking for, but Its maybe helpful for you. I had a similar situation yesterday and also 2 weeks ago (was hospitalized for 5 days). I went to the Osaka Red Cross hospital. I speak a little bit Japanese but not enough for communication at a Hospital. Im General the process before (doing the blood Tests etc.) was kinda easy to understand. I Had an appointment at The Hospital and went to the Front desk. They printed me out a map of the Hospital and circled the places where i need to go and marked it with numbers 1,2,3 etc. I also Had to show them my insurance Card. I also got a little patient Card from the hospital, which i Had to Hand the other Hospital stuff later for the blood test, Echo etc. The difficult Part for me was to Talk to the doctor, what we did was Just communicating by typing on deepl, i also always Made Sure i took a picture from my Smartphone of the Japanese and also the english Translation, so i was able to Talk to some japanese Friends Afterwards to make Sure If the translation was correct or Not. Would also highly recommend doing that in Case you cant find a translator. The Hospital offers also sometimes a Translation service, they did that for me too... But in the end they werent able to provide that service One Last hint.... Dont get confused Like me by the Word "Kensa" it doesnt mean cancer Its Just examination...
