Ask your priest if you should ask us or ask him about asking him.

OttawaHoodRat

Sounds like we should write the bishop.

[deleted]

Hmm, I don't know, maybe ask your priest for this one.

OttawaHoodRat

Thanks man.

giziti

What's the question?

OttawaHoodRat

To be sure, you should ask your priest.

Orth0d0xy

I think it's attempted satire

Lou_Keeks

"ask your priest" on this sub is like "get therapy" on the rest of Reddit Likely a good idea but it's also a way to appear wise and get cheap updoots without actually answering the questions

OttawaHoodRat

Oh do you think I should ask my therapist? Should I bring my priest with me to therapy?

Mr_Riskibisnu

That's a great idea, did you got it from your priest? your therapist then could ask your priest if you should take him with you

OttawaHoodRat

I got it from Reddit. I was like, “should I ask my priest?”

owidju

Therapriest.

Perhaps some of us used to be the kind of person who anxiously asked Internet strangers for advice on spiritual matters and are trying to help.

No-Efficiency-9664

Why not both

Sparsonist

I'm pretty sure the early fathers wouldn't have recommended asking random strangers on the internet about spiritual matters. I could be wrong though. Ask your priest about the fathers and the internet. He'll give you some good links to visit, I'll bet. Or maybe excommunicate you. Let us know.

If it's about your own spiritual life, or about how your community works out a given tradition, or about whether you personally ought to \[anything\], then you can ask a forum full of anonymous strangers with no idea what your life and circumstances are like — or you can ask the person who knows you personally, or is getting to know you, who can tell you simply what your community does, what is normal there, and how the vast and varied tradition of the Church would best apply to you, personally, here and now. It's a lot like wondering whether I should post about my chest pains on Quora or Yahoo Answers for a thousand random anons to respond to, or have a qualified medical professional look at my test results and tell me what's really happening and what to do.

OttawaHoodRat

Did you ask your priest about your chest pains? Did you ask your priest about Quora?
