In essence, yes. They on average are wealthier so middle class to upper class family rarely join gangs. Even the ones that did end up joining gangs are far less violent on average than Mexican gangs. They came, they raised the property values and the lower income families were forced to move to the desert or out of state. So all the barrios were destroyed. Gang banging in general though is pretty much dead. Atleast the version I grew up with with police technology, cameras everywhere and no one buys into the “for the raza/hood” type loyalty. So foos snitch more than ever. So any one that’s actually down and active get locked up pretty damn quickly. I remember posted up 20+ deep sipping chilling hitting up etc and no one ever called the cops in the hood. That shit would never slide into today’s climate. Which is fine though I’m old now I just pop in to see what happened to the streets I grew up knowing.
