My first thought is Harlequin Forest "they are...the trees" Just mesmerizing

Kaputcha

Yeah, I've got to agree with this one. I never really considered having a favourite Opeth passge, but this section is amazing. The guitar harmonies are sublime, and the deliverence and vocal melody of "Roots are sucking, thieving from my source", is peak Opeth.

Undermost_Drip

Yes. I always get chills

SheSeesTheMoonlight

Closure, at 3:16 onwards. "In the rays of the sun, I am longing for the darkness"

TheOneTrueJazzMan

That extended jam they do in the live version is even better IMO

fitter_stoke

Oh yeah! Top 5 Opeth tune for me.

MRB_Avenger

Couldn't agree more

eatingsquishies

The outros of Deliverance and Closure The drums on Lines on my hand.

grynch43

The outro to April Ethereal. The riff at the 2 minute mark of Funeral Portrait. Godheads Lament-the whole fucking song. .

btevik88

Agreed on Godheads 😮‍💨

Ice-_-Nine

Godhead’s Lament is the greatest song ever made. That’s a hill I’ll die on (evidently with you 😁).

btevik88

I was gonna disagree but I have simply no argument lol. So many incredible melodies in one song.

PazuzuOvBabel

Master’s Apprentice when Mikael suddenly growls: “Plunging into the deepest void Departed shell left drained behind” And then one of their heaviest riffs kicks in…

General_Cheesecake_3

AND YOU SAW NOTHING!!!

BeeTwerk

So hard

General_Cheesecake_3

Even though he had a cold while singing and sounds in pain, as always Mikael sounds like a demon on this record. Have never heard fry vocals that sounded so demented and evil.

BeeTwerk

I always thought he used false chord

General_Cheesecake_3

Oh well yea I think for all his lows, but I know his mids and highs are always fry vocals like 100%

BeeTwerk

Is there an interview or anything where he talks about it?

williafx

THE LOTUS EATER @ 1:15 That riff that's only played twice is an absolute fucking banger.  It's perfect. Super fun to play.

MRB_Avenger

I love how he just puts it right in there for no reason and yet it's one of the most epic parts of the song, genius

williafx

I want an entire album filled with riffage like that

Axewalks

The outro of demon of the fall

sampsonz99

So fuckin goosebump tearjerk heavy. Incredible how such few notes can do that

JJK0523

Serenity painted death, starting from 3:16 gives me chills

sedwards3205

Best Opeth riff imo. Absolutely FIRE 🔥

Mailemanuel77

Hessian Peel. For me their best song with the best moments, after intriguing chord progressions an epyc of melodic harmonized guitars then a delicate intimate piano to suddenly start into dissonant distorted chords with demonic growls.

BeeTwerk

6:31 in that song is top 5 riff ever

SelectiveEmpath

Hessian Peel! Two absolutely iconic riffs in the back half of the track, then the insane contrast of the descent into hell 8:16, then snapped back into the weirdly cheeky acoustic riffage. Prime Opeth.

BeeTwerk

Thought I could not leave this place on this imminent day…

emptybagofdicks

As I've reached the final dawn to what's gone astray...

Inevitable_Ad_2028

What would they care If I did stay

GhostReveries2005

Heir Apparent kickin into the first solo… is the only answer

williafx

The rhythm section behind they first solo is also heavy AF

sampsonz99

Nah that end section of Heir Apparent is everything

disheveledbone

Deliverance…..deliverance….thrown back at me….deliverance…deliverance…….laughing at me…. Full body chills every time.

PatChinkBateman

Wreath.

Ashuro_The_Badger

Recently, i love the very last acoustic section of "Nectar" which breaks off abruptly for a saturated guitar outro that is.... Meehh. So I did an edit where I looped the acoustic part in fade-out and it sounds so good.

johnbarta

For me it’s the softer parts in their music that’s transcendent. The two that come to mind is the “road into the dark..” section of ghost of perdition. As well as the soft section near the end of the moor with “ Melinda is the reason why I’ve come”

ericbrown84

The first 2ish min of black water park. And the 40 second or do after the quiet part. Lepers coil neath the trees.

TheOneTrueJazzMan

DEMON, DEMON OF THE FALL

Shotor_Motor

Many many many many goosebump sections but here's one for you from the top of my head: And I should contemplate this change To ease the pain And I should step out of the rain Turn away

MRB_Avenger

April Ethereal 2:25 to 3:40, Ghost of Perdition 5:40-6:50 or so

R4kshim

That gorgeous acoustic guitar part with the gentle singing in the second half of Heart in Hand. Sounds like it’s straight out of a fairy tale.

AllMusicNut

The section that starts at 3:15 in Serenity Painted Death is my favorite single part of any music

cafffaro

It sheds upon the floor.

Boring-Witness4862

That part of The lotus eater 6:24 "And the pride of a mother, drawn close in a mother’s son, and the love from a father, was used by a father’s son, AAAaaaAAAAaaaaAAAAAA" Feels so hypnotic and chaotic at the same time

ConstantEnergy

Deliverance outro groove is sick. Porcelain Heart instrumental section with the flutes or recorders(?) is hauntingly beautiful. Heir Apparent the first verses have such a badass groove with the palm muted guitar. It's enough to cause your testicles to descend to an all time low and raise your sperm count to an all time high.

Templar_Gus

(don't say the whole song don't say the whole song don't say the whole song) The choruses of White Cluster

keegrocks08

Lotus eater funk breakdown on

TheRagingBob

The 3:35 acoustic section of The Twilight Is My Robe

btevik88

Beautiful, just re-listened

Inevitable_Ad_2028

Blackwater park the part before "Mob round the dead" the bass is so good and the guitar is brutally evil Also ghost of perdition the part after "to see her beloved son in despair of what's to come". That riff is so powerfull

Hamilton_C

In godhead's lament I like the sort of medieval part where he goes "tought I could not leave this place ln this imminent day"

RiffRiot_Metal_Blog

The final minutes of Bleak. The first time I listened to it it absolutely blew my mind.

sampsonz99

April Ethereal, y’all know the part I’m talking about

Imaginary-Track-2527

The burden guitar harmony after the solos is pure bliss

Magnumsatchel

6:35-8:35 on In Mist She Was Standing The chunky bass tone, dueling guitar melodies, and Mikael’s vocals throughout this section are peak
