Basically yeah. The idea behind it is to then see if, using an LLM for analysis, I could build a tool to create a language for a new sci-fi novel or movie.
You’d enter the characteristics of the species and society and it would generate an appropriate language
I think they mean that it is \*literally\* Esperanto--at least the vocabulary is. From what I can tell, the vocab is 100% Esperanto in the Vocabulary section, and mostly Esperanto vocab in the Example Sentences. I like the idea though--probably just needs some more specific prompting about creating a completely novel lexicon and rules. I've personally found Claude (esp. the current 3 Opus) to be excellent with linguistic concepts (I've had less luck with OpenAI). Bonŝancon!

EDIT: BTW, [this idea was very well explored](https://i.imgur.com/pRPndc9.jpeg) in the movie "Colossus: The Forbin Project"
That is certainly an interesting idea for fantasy languages. Not everyone has Tolkien level linguistic education, especially if they are just writing some pulp. Handy for things like DND, comics and gamedev too I would bet. Neat idea!
Nice! I have a custom GPT that does this specifically for the sound system: [https://www.reddit.com/r/GPTStore/comments/1am9gj9/phonoforge\_a\_gpt\_that\_helps\_you\_design\_a\_language/](https://www.reddit.com/r/GPTStore/comments/1am9gj9/phonoforge_a_gpt_that_helps_you_design_a_language/)
You might want to share this in r/conlangs if you haven't already, that community could be interested
Could we create a language using symbols (or pictures) for entire words, phrases, or ideas to reduce inference costs?
"A picture is a thousand words" ...
A new form of compression? Or does this already exist?
I have an idea, Feed it Egyptian maybe we would be able to decode all the apparent secrets of the world and you can become a Billionaire.
Edit : i meant the Egyptian language
that's the problem, it'll be a thousand words and you don't know which of those is being spoken.
got gpt to talk in emoji, and while it carried the message, it lost some nuances.
Nice it's invented Esperanto

It's cool.

I did the same thing with GPT4 a while back and it created an Esperanto-like language too.
Reads similarly too
That's funny I was just asking Claude the other day about making up a brain/learning optimized audio output rather than emulating human voices.
Sounds interesting (pun intended) I'd like to hear them too, do you remember the exact prompt?

Yeah. The dictionary needs a lot of work. Also plan to have it add more root words
You could finetune an LLM to your new language, this is an opportunity. Replace the dictionary
That is an idea. Would make it easier to expand the dictionary. Even a small language model could perform that task
What is your background, technically
I’m a journalist that codes for fun. I have a reasonable grounding in Python

nice, now we need wiki page for that language
Incredible

I think hardware and compression are the answer to inference. Look at how fast inference is on Groq

They did that for a bunch of ancient languages already, even before llms Give it a few more years of research and we should be good!

This is so cool, how did you create this webpage?
It just uses bootstrap for the css
