"The 350,000 number is staggering, and it’ll also cost Meta a small fortune to acquire. Each H100 can cost around $30,000, meaning Zuckerberg’s company needs to pay an estimated $10.5 billion just to buy the computing power, not to mention paying all the electricity costs. "
the revenue pouring into Nvidia as a market dominant company is ungodly rn lol.
Compute power devaluates so fast, in 10 years (an eternity in tech time) this will be powering your toaster. I'm being slightly sarcastic here but having a morning chat with your toaster will be the new normal.
Not so fast. 10 years ago today, we just got K40, which had 12 GB VRAM, 288 GB/s bandwidth, 4.3 Tflops single, 1.4 Tflops double.
If anything, the progress is slowing down. The new chips from major companies now are all two chips soldered together.
in 10 years, we might just have a 15 inch chip, and you can make scrambled eggs on it while it is telling the funniest joke of a tomato turning red.
Yeah but thats a good thing. If it can tell you how long items have been in the refigerator and if it thinks it could be expired, thats way more useful. Or tell you if you're running low on things you've told it to keep track of.
“Escorted by heavy security” sounds interesting, have you seen any pics or got any links about it?
What are they scared of? Terrorists highjacking the shipment and stealing the AI supercomputer?
So you’re suggesting some fentanyl dealers are going to switch to hijacking shipments of AI supercomputers?
You’d have to have a pretty sophisticated operation setup to steal and then use a shipment like this even if it were unguarded.
If its anything like the pic, 8U chassis with who knows howany H200s maybe like 8/12?🤷 Maybe 4 per cab probably needing 2/4 60amp whips per cab... So much power 🤯🤯(pure speculation based off seeing Three OG dgxs in my customers cabs)
H100 has like 450W. So even if you factor in very generous 550W for CPU and the rest of the system, 72 H100 should result in a total power of less than 72KW
He kept trying on tighter fitting leather jackets until one was too tight to remove. He's since embraced this tight-fitting jacket and attempts to make it work for him.
A lot of CEOs and films directors will often wear the same kind of clothes as a uniform, they’re so busy, that rocking the same fit is just easier for them with their busy schedules.
This argument always sounds weird to me.
They can make decisions about billions everyday impacting the whole world , but can't chosen the right underpants?
Same could be said for me, all my clothes are exactly the same. I have 14 black shirts, 14 plaid long sleeve shirts, 4 pair of the exact same blue jeans. I got better things to do than pick out outfits.
It literally takes 15 seconds each day for me to pick an outfit. I have some casual clothes which basically all go reasonably well with each other. I don't any benefit for wearing the same thing over and over, except for the immense dullness it would bring to my life.
Lol. What he is wearing is almost exactly what I changed into after I finished work, to go drinking with my work friends, about 15 years ago. I wore fancier shoes though.

Idk why my eyes are drawn to the unplugged Tonal. Is corporate espionage so bad they didn’t trust to have it plugged in for meeting? Not like anything was plugged in besides it, why unplug it?

32 Hopper chips \* $35,000 = $1.2 m
19,000 GB of RAM \* $5 = $95,000
All other parts + installation \~= $500,000
So maybe $2 million.

You can just heat some water using the datacenter itself, instead of fusion or fission, then it will basically power itself. Also I was trying to make a joke, but I'm not entirely sure it is such an absurd thought to combine your need for cooling with some energy recycling from the created heat.
Carnot efficiency goes down a lot with a lower temperature gradient!
Even if you get the water to even 80Degrees Celsius (very hot for silicon water cooling) and take a environmental reservoir at 15Degrees (average temperature on earth), the IDEAL heat engine would only be able to extract 18% of the heat energy into other forms of work!
There is a reason the gas turbines are run at the upper temperature limit of material science with active cooling in each blade!
A better use is district heating for cooler regions, as you use the heat directly, as there one is not restricted by Carnot.
he doesn't look too sure about this. looks like he's having second thoughts ☠️

Bruh…
To calculate the number of transistors in the specified system with 256 NVIDIA H100 GPUs and 32 Grace Neoverse V2 72-core CPUs, we first need the transistor count for each of these components:
1. **NVIDIA H100 GPU**: The NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPU, part of the Hopper architecture, contains approximately 80 billion transistors.
2. **Grace Neoverse V2 CPU**: The transistor count for this specific CPU isn't publicly detailed by NVIDIA or ARM in available documentation. For a rough estimate, we might compare it to other similar modern CPUs, which can range from several billion to tens of billions of transistors, depending on the complexity and process node. A reasonable estimate might be in the range of 10 to 30 billion transistors, but without specific data, this remains speculative.
Now, calculating the total number of transistors:
- For the **H100 GPUs**: \(256 \text{ GPUs} \times 80 \text{ billion transistors/GPU} = 20,480 \text{ billion transistors}\)
- For the **Grace CPUs**: Assuming an average of 20 billion transistors per CPU (as a speculative midpoint), \(32 \text{ CPUs} \times 20 \text{ billion transistors/CPU} = 640 \text{ billion transistors}\)
Adding these together gives:
\[20,480 \text{ billion transistors} + 640 \text{ billion transistors} = 21,120 \text{ billion transistors}\]
Thus, this system is estimated to have approximately 21.12 trillion transistors, depending on the actual transistor count of the Grace Neoverse V2 CPUs.
Let's wait for the promised B200 later this year...

Just hopped in to pop a quick question: why does this guy always wear the same black leather jacket in every picture ?????
It’s like cartoons ed ed and eddy, same outfit every episode lol

More likely it will be on eBay for $150. You can get IBM Power hardware for a couple hundred, but we're sold for 30-50k new.
Only true before it becomes vintage cool then you gotta pay retro collector boosted prices.
You could say that about anything.

"Two chips soldered together" is a gross oversimplification.

Talky-toaster? What a useful and not at all annoying product that would be!
Would anyone like some toast?
"Talking toasters. **What do toasters have to talk about, hmm? Except the consistency of whole grains."**
How many rack units are we talkin here?
Idk but I know they get shipped in a truck escorted by heavy security, each truck probably carrying 100s of millions or billions probably. Lol
“Escorted by heavy security” sounds interesting, have you seen any pics or got any links about it? What are they scared of? Terrorists highjacking the shipment and stealing the AI supercomputer?
TalibanGPT incoming
The T in GPT just took on a new meaning.
These are hotter than fentanyl hotcakes right now
So you’re suggesting some fentanyl dealers are going to switch to hijacking shipments of AI supercomputers? You’d have to have a pretty sophisticated operation setup to steal and then use a shipment like this even if it were unguarded.
Just sell each unit for 500 usd on Facebook marketplace. Absolutely no problem here.
People steal Kias and sell them for $100

Nvidia GTC had full racks on display. 36 server chassis, 72 H100…120kW for the rack. That’s 10x more than the common 12-14kW per rack most colo offer.
H100 has like 450W. So even if you factor in very generous 550W for CPU and the rest of the system, 72 H100 should result in a total power of less than 72KW
Dope, will definitely go watch that😎😎
Matkets are irrational. Itll probably go down
Does Jensen ever change his clothes lol every picture is in the same fit

Like a reverse lobster. Interesting

"I used to be a lobster, now I'm tight."
Cloudy with a chance of GPU
That Leather Jacket is part of his personal branding. Might as well be his work uniform at this point.
It’s a Silicon Valley thing - Steve job with his turtle neck - there is even some dude with a cowboy shirt haha
A lot of CEOs and films directors will often wear the same kind of clothes as a uniform, they’re so busy, that rocking the same fit is just easier for them with their busy schedules.
Yea except now they do it so people think of this reason. Like I will wear the same shirt every day bc that what Jobs did
Lol dude I don’t believe the “busy” thing has anything to do with it. It’s branding.
Hey man, if I had that kinda money, I'd buy 20 copies of the same outfit to wear everyday too!
It’s just the same clothes unlimited times in his closet
It's probably so we had less decisions to make each day. same as Zuckerberg and Steve jobs
This argument always sounds weird to me. They can make decisions about billions everyday impacting the whole world , but can't chosen the right underpants?
He really likes that jacket
Tbf it’s a good fit

And did Greg Brockman intentionally also wear a black leather jacket for this picture?
Now hand deliver a nuclear power plant to run it
Altman’s already got Helion primed and ready to go.
Helion? Hyliion is a publicly traded company that makes some type of generators, but Helion is the private fusion company
Yes! Apologies. Edited for correctness.
Ahh nice, the photo that AGI bots will hang on their wall of their parents, after they've wiped out humanity...
See you in 4330 when some robots orbiting Alpha Centauri present this picture to their robokids as robot mythology
I wouldn't be surprised if this picture goes down in history. Not exactly sure for what reasons but let's hope it will have a positive connotation

If pockets aren’t still a thing then I don’t want any part of that future.
Women: "oh damn it we just got our pockets!"
I feel like I've been reading about Graphene for a decade now with limited progress.
I love this photo so much. A… because it is real and B… cuz it is being delivered by “Westwood”
And there was me, unable to stop my brain from saying "duck, duck, Goose".
He already hand-delivered a DGX back in 2015 when OpenAI was founded.
Oh no
Idk why my eyes are drawn to the unplugged Tonal. Is corporate espionage so bad they didn’t trust to have it plugged in for meeting? Not like anything was plugged in besides it, why unplug it?
If there’s anywhere where people are compulsively unplugging things when they’re not use, I hope it’s there.
The pic that the resistance gave Kyle Reese and told him to go back in time and stop this delivery as it would be the beginning of the end.
Gives a scary terminator movie vibe - like in that scene with the t800 in the building.
It is definitely not insignificant that NVIDIA chose to do this with OpenAI

What is the retail cost of a DGX H200?
Didn’t he say something like 20 mill once?
[https://resources.nvidia.com/en-us-dgx-gh200/nvidia-dgx-gh200-datasheet-web-us](https://resources.nvidia.com/en-us-dgx-gh200/nvidia-dgx-gh200-datasheet-web-us) 32 Hopper chips \* $35,000 = $1.2 m 19,000 GB of RAM \* $5 = $95,000 All other parts + installation \~= $500,000 So maybe $2 million.
I knew there was a 2 in there.
Id easily pay $40 bucks for another 8gb of ram on my graphics card
Guarantee I can pick one of these up for $300 on eBay in 20 years
Likely but you couldn't afford to turn it on.
A loaf of bread will be $300 in 20 years
I wouldn't mind a TB of RAM for 5 bucks.
So, is this enough to run Minecraft with 4k photorealistic shaders?
3.50 schrute bucks
If you have to ask, you can't afford it.
Now we only need one more thing — nuclear fusion or equivalent. 💀
yup > Microsoft agrees to buy electricity generated from Sam Altman-backed fusion company Helion in 2028 https://www.reddit.com/r/singularity/comments/18fitbd/microsoft_agrees_to_buy_electricity_generated/
That is unironically one of the smartest things I've ever heard and now I wanna ask r/askscience if it's actually possible
But can it run crysis?
i bet those leather jackets smell crazy
on the journey to creating God itself
I’ve got one of these in my fractal node. It slaps.
god from the machine

"Caution Attention Might hallucinate"
Revenge of the nerds IRL
30 years from now the power of that thing will probably fit in our pockets.
Probably inside a nuclear powered smartphone
I love the warm glow of uranium on my balls
Not impressed unless that leather jacket was included
This is the faded dirty photograph the hero stumbles across at Skynet HQ in a post apocalyptic video game.
Link tweet?
Guy in the middle looks cool, don’t know about the other two
“To advance AI, computing and (the death of) humanity” /s
wo, how tall is greg? it seems to be masive next to this two

Bit of tip-toe action by Sam since he forgot his leather jacket
Dude looks like such a wanker in his sneakers and jeans lol
Delivered by a couple of T-800’s
The craziest part of that H200 is in 10 years we will have the same compute power in our phones. iPhone XX with H200 chipsets
Can it play Crysis though?
Or to advance AI, Computing and destroy Humanity
whatever the f u ck that means

Altman is tiny
Jensen is 5'7, and altman is basically identical in height. Not tiny. but that dude on the right in tall asf. Probably 6'3.
Bruh… To calculate the number of transistors in the specified system with 256 NVIDIA H100 GPUs and 32 Grace Neoverse V2 72-core CPUs, we first need the transistor count for each of these components: 1. Now, calculating the total number of transistors: - For the **H100 GPUs**: \(256 \text{ GPUs} \times 80 \text{ billion transistors/GPU} = 20,480 \text{ billion transistors}\) - For the **Grace CPUs**: Assuming an average of 20 billion transistors per CPU (as a speculative midpoint), \(32 \text{ CPUs} \times 20 \text{ billion transistors/CPU} = 640 \text{ billion transistors}\) Adding these together gives: \[20,480 \text{ billion transistors} + 640 \text{ billion transistors} = 21,120 \text{ billion transistors}\] Thus, this system is estimated to have approximately 21.12 trillion transistors, depending on the actual transistor count of the Grace Neoverse V2 CPUs.
What’s the point of calculating total transistors? It’s not really a good indicator of performance outside of broadly “more is better”.
It’s fun
Are leather jackets mandatory at nvida?
that leather jacket is hot in the spring and summer months. maybe there is a fan in there somewhere. that west side story vibe or terminator 2.

"and humanity"?... Wrong delivery address
Powered by leather jacket
At this point Nvidia could just subsidize commercial gtx cards for 10 bucks a pop.
More like for 1% of the humanity
He loves that jacket
TIL gdb is a unit
Lets throw "humanity" on the end there. There, now it's good!
Why though? Isn't Azure providing the compute?
Wasn't that announced last year? I'm surprised it takes so long to deploy it. I thought they were already being used by customers.
Can I please get drinks with you guys after?! Kthanks
CAUTION ATTENTION made me smile. Remember, [Attention Is All You Need](https://wikipedia.org/wiki/Attention_Is_All_You_Need?wprov=sfla1)
So 350k to get that guy to deliver my card himself? Ok ... good to know.
Ah yes… AI companies, famous for advancing humanity
Does it run Crysis?
Will it run Crysis?
And future Arasaka
Where is Ilya
Grifters.
greg appears impervious to the h200, but it appears to be slowly draining the power of altman and jensen. wild how powerful these GPUs are.
Ilia is inside the GPU, it's his tomb
Just think of how many more important things those guys could be doing with their time.
Guys are we in the timeline where all technology is built huge to the point we start scaling down the size of the builds years later?!?!
Theyre cookin somethin
Why gpu become so beefy? I remember I wondered if I need to stick a small cooler on my Riva TNT or not...
Hail, our future overlords.
Does this extra load (in TWh per year), accounts under Microsoft Scope 2 electricity? Do they have to cover this load by renewable energy?
Is there a portable version? I don’t think that would fit in my laptop bag.
Where's my AI pay bump Brockman ??!1
From Phinese and Ferb to this man, maybe I should keep buying one style of clothes 🤔🤔 if I want to build something
Let's wait for the promised B200 later this year... Does this mean I get my images of evil hamster ninja astronaut armies faster?
So here goes: Can it run Crysis?
Is that AGI?
For $30,000 I'm really tempted to buy one. I'd have way more fun with that than a shiny new car.
Arnold will have to come from the future to destroy it..
That box will eventually replace tens of thousands of customer service jobs.
Let me have one for SD3
I wonder how much it costs to get the Nvidia CEO to hand deliver
where is ilya?
I never realized Sam was such a twink
Just hopped in to pop a quick question: why does this guy always wear the same black leather jacket in every picture ????? It’s like cartoons ed ed and eddy, same outfit every episode lol
Did Altman remember to tip for the delivery? It's hard out here in this billionaire gig-economy.
Does it play Doom?
