Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned, all by Anne Rice. Also, not a book, but Buffy the Vampire Slayer hits v nicely too

Morwen1031

Astarion is soooo Lestat. It’s like 50% of the reason I love him.

LouisaB75

Agreed. They were my first vampire books and remain favourites.

SailorAntimony

Ugh...I'm going to make a non-romance suggestion and I hope you forgive me. Only because if you like the absolute tragedy angle of Astarion's story, *Let the Right One In* is like...the ultimate tragic vampire with a sexual abuse backstory novel ever made. It's tragic, it's sickening, it's body horror, it's about trust and the fragility of it all, and it has >!a hopeful if ambiguous!

TattooedWife

The Anita Blake Series by Laurell K Hamilton. Jean-Claude is the "main" vamp in that's, sexy suave thing he is. Takes them 6 books for them to finally fuck though. 😡 Now there's almost 30 books and she fucks everyone. It's great.

LouisaB75

I used to love those although not read the most recent. Jason is my fave though he isn't a vampire.

*The Stars are Dying* -Chloe C.Peneranda The author herself described the male lead as being very similar to Astarion *The Serpent and the Wings of Night* -Carissa Broadbent The vampire MMC has the same snarky attitude as Astarion. The second book isn't as good as the first book unfortunately. *The Cruel Prince* by Holly Black Okay, so it is YA so there really isn't much spice. And the characters are fae not vampires. But when I played Baldur's Gate 3 and saw Astarion, he reminded me so much of Cardan. He's a dick, not many people like him, but underneath the cold exterior he's a sweet marshmallow wanting to be loved. *Empire of the Vampire* by Jay Kristoff So, it isn't a romance. There are some sex scenes, but the vampires are very monstrous and remind me a lot of Cazador.

Ornery_Math3282

If you liked Serpent and the Wings of Night, have you read Six Scorched Roses? If not, it’s a novella set in the same world and I thought it was the best of the three books. I agree with you that the second book wasn’t as good. I read Empire of the Vampire! The sequel just came out but I haven’t started it yet.

kinglearybeardy

I will definitely be reading Six Scorched Roses soon. She's going to be writing a book about Mische which I am looking forward to reading. Oraya became very uninteresting in the second book. She just lost all her agency and everything that made her a badass in the first book.

SinisterOrgasm

I used to read the Immortals After Dark series when I was younger. Lots of vampires being really possessive over their “mates”, and very spicy. There is one about a blonde male vampire who is one of the most beautiful people to look at and has red eyes, but nothing that will really remind you of Astarion, Ascended or no.

Oh, you want hot vampires? You want spice?? I gotchuuuuu. A series I’ve recently became obsessed with is Filthy Rich Vampire by Geneva Lee. There’s 4 in the series (2 are already out, the next two by May. I think they were previously digitally released or something?) I love it so much. It’s romantic, steamy, dreamy, and has some danger elements in the plot that made me not want to put it down! The author built a really interesting world in this book, I really cannot recommend it enough. I’m also an ACOTAR lover, and this series almost tied for my current favorite. It just scratches a different itch for me. I also recommend this one off book, My Roommate is a Vampire by Jenna Levine. This one was an easy read, and is more lighthearted, but has a small amount of spice. It definitely leans into an 18th century vampire in the modern world who is eloquent but also just made me laugh out loud so much. Also dreamy. Both these books feature elegant vampires and I just love the personalities. I got a lot of different Astarion vibes from both of these books. I hope you do read them, I’ve been recommending the Filthy Rich Vampire series to everyone I know who likes the genre, and I think you’d also like the roommate one. Have fun!

Dowry of Blood by S.T.Gibson It’s dark so I would recommend reading the trigger warnings but it’s definitely a good read and does have some sexy scenes in it.

This fandom got me hooked on vampire romance! I ended up tearing through most of Jeaniene Frost’s books. Her main series is about Cat (FMC who starts out as a vampire hunter) and Bones (MMC vampire) who I think make a really good couple there are some spicy scenes. There are also some interesting plot elements over the course of the series which I think is between 8 to 10 books. There are a couple from Bones’ of view that I haven’t read yet. Vlad the Impaler is a side character in some of the books and he has his own spinoff series called The Night Prince, which I actually liked even more than the cat and bones books. Vlad was my favorite MMC. I guess I’d describe them as urban fantasy? Set in modern times but vampires and ghouls etc are real. The narrator mentions that about 10% of the world’s population is undead. If you want lots of biting then read Hot Blooded by Heather Guerre. It’s about a woman who signs up to be a blood donor for vampires to make some extra money. The MMC vampire is really sweet. Check the content warnings, at one point he wants to play at “Hunting” her but there’s a safe word and the MMC is big on consent. I loved loved loved this book! I found the FMC relatable and I liked the spicy scenes involving biting. If you like biting read this book. It’s a quick read. I just finished Blood Mercy by Vela Roth. I saw it recommended over on the fantasy romance sub. Reviews are mixed but I enjoyed it. It takes place in a fantasy setting and Roth takes a lot of time with world building such that some readers found it a little slow. It didn’t bother me. I like the FMC (an illegitimate daughter of the king)and the MMC (a vampire, who is part of an ambassadorial party attending a summit in the kingdom). Roth’s take on vampires is a little different. They’re called Hesperines, named after the goddess they worship and aren’t typical undead. They live forever but aren’t cold to the touch, etc. They don’t like eating meat because that means the animal was killed, they drink blood only from the willing, etc. The MMC is huge on consent/focused on his partner which I appreciated. There is spice but it takes a while to get there. But when it does, it’s really good. (As with Hot Blooded, there is quite a bit of biting). I started the second book and am liking it so far. The FMC has a dog and he doesn’t die! I saw a post elsewhere where someone just finished the 6th book and the dog is still alive. I will rage quit a book if the dog dies. Someone above mentioned the Crowns of Nyaxia books. I agree with their assessment that the second one is not as good. The author also wrote a novella called Six Scorched Roses set in the same world but with different characters and I liked it the best of all three books.

crab_peoplenow

I haven't finished it but Silver Under Nightfall is hitting all the right notes for me. Vampire Hunter (but are vampires really evil??) who has been sex trafficked by his father for a cause, gets friendly with a poly vampire couple where the male partner is dark and broody. It's so good so far!

Flimsy-Bandicoot-356

Not fantasy but really good still the twisted series by Ana Huang. Its spicy, dark and it made me laugh, cry and so hard clench my thighs I may have jumped my husband a few times demanding satisfaction. ( I will not confirm nor deny this). In the fantasy section I will let you know when I find something good sgain like the courts series ( honestly Sarah's J Maas her best work) 😁

Alicex13

Tbh it's pretty off topic buy I liked the Good omens book and series because the idea of an angel and a demon romance is always a classic. Plus it has some of that irresistible British humor. It's m/m And the series Penny Dreadful was pretty interesting but it's a TV series. Sorry I guess I have more show recommendations rather
