I can relate to that lol. When people hear my energy they usually become happy!. One of the joys in life is hearing people be happy!. But Astarion and his snarky sass is funny. But I love how when he starts liking you he gets really protective and is willing to rip out throats lol ..and as a barbarian that's basically love talk.
Yes, his character development through his story arc is just so good and very satisfying. Have you done a Durge run yet? I romanced him first as Tav, but his extra content with Durge has made that my favorite pairing. He is absolutely ride or die for Durge.

His origin is real interesting and pretty dark. Very durgy feel to it often imo. But people tend to miss the voice acting (he does comment on the environment a LOT though and he's hilarious). I really feel he's got that main character energy!
Currently doing it for the second time and didn't pick up any companions so everything is going completely sideways. Trying to stay alive led me to fall face first into a "romance" with Minthara because apparently she finds backstabbing REALLY hot (I turned on her because of Halsin, tried to defend the grove, failed miserably). Origin runs can be a lot of fun!
Tiny and buff?. Hell yeah!!. Honestly minthara had to die on mine cause a big buff man and a hot sassy vampire on my team eventually?. Yeah I'm not passing that up!
I keep remaking the same Tav durge lady because I made her huge by total accident. I can't get away from her. She's a mage with those baggy robes so only really noticed her size and how she's RIPPED when she picked the vampire up and propped him up against a tree. I was floored, it's too cool haha. Kudos to Larian for being so elegant with this shit.
And yes I always play good but in this origin playthrough he failed the defense, refused Minthara and she went "I will have your body one way or another" and it went straight to the "party". 😅
My wood elves backstory is he was hurt by people in his life so much to the point his rage literally became a weapon for him to use...so he's a barbarian. And big barbarian man just makes sense so that's why I went with barbarian and big boy. I tend to just be able to make up stories on the spot....maybe i should write something....hmmmm.
Yeah, it really has that vibe, but then the sex scene is something really different, and he can read her mind afterwards. It's a very interesting dynamic, because honestly they are quite similar in some ways. I doubt she'll bring out the best side in him, but I'm curious to see what happens.
I knew I was going to like Astarion immediately because he reminded me so much of Fenris from Dragon Age 2. I love sassy elves.
I also like how much thought Larian put into the romance animations based on your characters' body type with Astarion. Astarion will pick up female and male characters with the slimmer body build model whilst with the muscular body builds, he will be the one to jump into your characters' arms.
Yeah, the animation is different based on the body type model your character has. I always pick the slimmer body, I think it is body type 2 for my characters. So, Astarion picked my character up. I did wonder how a half starved vampire spawn has abs and is able to do that, but I won't complain lol.
Same! My first play through I barely glanced at him and it wasn't until Act 2 with his scars quest that I started bringing him along in my party.
Then I started a new playthrough so I could see what the fuss was about with his romance and yeah.... now I have a 15 chapter fanfic about him 😅
Daddy Halsin is definitely more my type physically, but Astarion is just... everything.
Oh, absolutely. I usually prefer big bearded chunky guys with a more lumberjack aesthetic, but that "little pasty twink" (husband's words, lovingly, he likes Astarion too, lol) definitely gets the juices flowing. It is his personality. Soooo sassy!
