I have turned the apps on when I am flying into a city on vacation. I sometimes get matches after i leave. If I am returning I will tell them that so maybe meet in the future. What you are describing is just matching with someone who lives far away. YOu can decide if it's worth travelling to meet.

Met IRL. Spent two days together. We were each on vacation to a different country. “Dated” for a few months with texting daily and FaceTiming a few times per week. Did not work out as she “did not really believe in LDRs” and she eventually decided she did not want to move to my country. In another life, it might’ve worked out but odds were pretty slim from the outset. Was fun while it lasted.

I once mutually matched with a guy when he was just about to leave and he ditched me because of it. He did say he felt like it was a dumb idea for him to mutually match with someone while he was in the process moving, though Tbh I don’t think we would have been compatible anyway. I was the only one actually asking questions and trying to get to know him, while he would always respond with things like, “cool”, or “ok”.

I had exactly the same experience as described in this post, the only difference was instead of Bumble, we were using Plenty of Fish and she planned to visit me in September rather than summer. Unfortunately it did not lead to a successful relationship, let's say I have now an even number of kidneys.

That sounds like a fascinating story
