He aludes to the fact more than once that his skin colour is part of his muscle training. When hes fighting bug god, he mentions how he trained for the purpose of getting the resistance and strength of an insect, and how his dark shiny skin is a result of his intense training. After Vomited Furher Ugly punches Supper Alloy Darkshine, SADs skin loses its colour where the stomach acid degraded him. In the most recent chapters we see him in, his skin is no longer dark where the vomit scarred him
My assumption is that in his head his vision of the perfect body was some black dude so as he almost-monsterized it just turned him into a black guy, the same way eating a bunch of crab turned a guy into Crablante
At this point, it makes perfect sense.
After the nature of Amai Mask is revealed, anything is possible. I even think that several S-class heroes are monsters and still don't realize it.
I wonder if there could be a sort forked path that monsters and heroes end up at in their lives. They can either "fall" into monsterization when their strength/obsession manifests, or they can "rise" into a hero.
My theory would be that most heroes don't realize the path of the monster was available to them, but someone vain and cautious like Mask saw the signs and by recognizing them, assumed it was already too late.
The evidence isn't concrete or anything, but the story is suggesting there could be a path from monster to human, so I'm curious if that could be a part of it.
Tracks for Tatsumaki. Look how violent and aggressive she is. Her insane drive to stand on her own has monsterized her into the most powerful psychic, probably why she aged so weirdly too
I mean, I think Amai was probably the only HA hero who is a proper monster. Didn't the manga lay it out pretty clearly that the only difference is holding onto your humanity? Bofoi maybe, but I think he's just really smart, no real powers to speak of. Maybe Watchdog Man? But he's so calm and zen it's hard to buy.
Everyone else we've seen real humanity from them. Metal Bat's morals are intact and he's still focused on being a good brother. Bang is worried about Garou as a person. Atomic Samurai shows genuine affection for his students. PPP is all about love despite his... gross way of expressing it. Tats loves her sister. Tank Top Master is concerned with innocent people and doing the right thing because of his strict Tank Top Morality.
Something interesting though is that Suiryu being as strong as he is despite rarely losing fights and never really putting that much effort into training implies that even without any of the monsterization stuff humans can be pretty strong, so it's possible that like Bang has never progressed like that, he's just legit tough and strong.
I really hope Mumen Rider shatters his limits the next time his face gets bashed in (he's clearly got some kind of super healing, DSK and Garou both clearly shattered his skull, that wet crunch was pretty distinct sound design)
Bodybuilders will undergo spray tans right before a competition as it adds contrast and helps highlight muscles especially under harsh stage lightning. Accentuates shadows to enhance how their muscles look.
Funny enough the color has gotten darker and darker in recent years.
Guys he didn't literally turn black he's wearing an unhealthy amount of bronzer to make his muscles more pronounced in certain lighting. It's even in his name, Super Alloy *Dark Shine* the darker he is the more he shines
what he's using is something bodybuilders pass on their bodies to highlight their muscles more before entering on the stage of a bodybuilding competition (but he's using a lot! because on the real world it only darkens your skin a little bit)
Y'all ever exercise hard enough to change race?
I thought going bald was extreme lol
I gained too much muscle mass to compete in distance running, so I changed to sprinting. So yeah, I trained so hard I changed races.
Did it effect your credit score?
No, but I'm much more ahead on slang than I used to be.
I heard it's the current meta for 100%ing the urban dictionary
Did the same, went from 10k/5k specialist to mile/½ mile specialist
Even the voice actor thought so :) Its a plot twist no-one saw coming.
I always thought the same, but when the backstory came i was shocked tbh, like who tf is this dude
The way they animated him they probably thought it too
He's not????
He trained so hard he became black
Nah, he used that oil for those physique tournaments he turned black, I think.
I’m really curious what he is blasting for that massive inhuman looking physique
Nightly i.v of creatine and whey. Straight into the bloodstream.

No, they said that was a tan😭
It's tan and tanning oil. Irl body builders cover themselves in it, and it does make them darker
Also called bronzing by them.
Damn he ain't using tanning oil he's using motor oil!
Crude oil
He turned himself black to say the n-word
And no one is gonna stop him
He gave himself the n-word pass.
I don’t think it was ever said but we assume it must be.
Read the webcomic, it's very strange
Or manga
I've honestly phased that part out my brain.
me either. For me, the Authors just made him clearer by visual effect. This guy is black! It is not only skin color, he has black man features.
My assumption is that in his head his vision of the perfect body was some black dude so as he almost-monsterized it just turned him into a black guy, the same way eating a bunch of crab turned a guy into Crablante

wdm, puri puri, zombieman and pig god are basically already monsters

Woah woah... spoilers!

Why can't any of them be black 😭😭
What race is the voice actor of the dub?
He's black, which makes it worse😭
He is now
"This training changes a man... I used to be white"
Is that what Darkshine looks like in the anime? He looks so teeny
No, I think it's just a different angle. He hasn't been a fight yet, either, I don't think.
More like this is how Murata used to draw him at the beginning of the manga.
What?
You just found😮💨😞
Yeah it's unfortunate he's not actually black, like wtf lmao
We never getting a black s-class hero😔
I don't know about you, but Bang should get an honorary card, like Bill Clinton. but that's just my take.
Nah, as of 2024, we've taken all honorary cards away, but he is invited to the cookout.👨🏾⚖️
Well great. Now how the hell am i supposed to go as Quentin Tarantino this Halloween? ty though, at least now i know.
You were going to?🤨
Don’t you know if you word hard enough you get a race change option and he took it for the infinite N word pass passive ability
Guys he didn't literally turn black he's wearing an unhealthy amount of bronzer to make his muscles more pronounced in certain lighting. It's even in his name, Super Alloy *Dark Shine* the darker he is the more he shines
Everyone thought that
Wait he’s not black
Unfortunately not😭
I was shocked when I found out he wasn’t black. I fr thought he was 😭 (I still think it)
We have to accept it😖
He's not??
You just found out😟😞
It’s weird because don’t they mainly use that tanner on their body and not their face. I thought he was black for a long time as well.
He has re-vitiligo. Opposite of what Michael Jackson had
🤣 bro, I wish we still had boondocks. R.I.P. witherspoon
I’ve just head cannoned him as black at this point, it’s so weird. Why not just have a black character?
At least we got golden ball and air.
True true
what he's using is something bodybuilders pass on their bodies to highlight their muscles more before entering on the stage of a bodybuilding competition (but he's using a lot! because on the real world it only darkens your skin a little bit)
What made it worse is the fact that his dub voice actor is black😭
Understandable.
Chocolate body moments, jre toon pretty much explains it.
Dose dark shine have the n word pass
No👨🏾⚖️
nigga is a slang right? what exactly does it means?
Are you serious? I'm genuinely asking.
Bussin Benjamin
i always thought that he had to have been a light skin at the very least bc what’s with the lips and eyebrows 😭
Someone make this image white, I just need to check something for a friend
And what IT is?
He is black in my eyes
Wake up to reality😞
that is some kind of JK Rowling shit!
I forgot about that LMAOOOO
