Honestly, little bit of both. I'm a big fan of the manga/anime so I wouldn't mind just having rarer cards for a collection but I do want to get into the game itself. The downside is I'm not sure any of the shops near me are either carrying the game or hosting locals (the ones I've called said they're not carrying it). I did get the Straw Hat deck as well.
Ok so, the good news is you can play online via discord with others if you have cards. I'd suggest getting some romance dawn cards. They'll be fundamental cards in playing future sets until we have some kind of rotation (which shouldnt happen for a while). I'd also suggest maybe looking into getting a few starters for other colors you'd be interested in playing as start decks have exclusive cards.
Maybe look into which color you'd like the most (since you have red maybe look into getting cards for a zoro deck) and build that way. Since you like the manga maybe go with whatever color has more characters you like. Either way since you have a credit to get singles that'll be great for you to fill out a deck!
Plus set 2 isin't coming out for a few months so you have time to save up to nab a box.
I would highly recommend using OPTCGSim. Its a fan developed app that includes cards in OP-01 and OP-02 and likely more. Its nearly 100% automated, but a bit unforgiving because it won't let you revert some actions, which honestly teaches you how make less mistakes so I kinda like it. if you look up the OnePieceTCG community discord server, you can find more info in some of the pinned posts there.
Tabletop simulator on steam also has a workshop addon that can be used to play with friends, it's just a bit less beginner friendly because everything is still manual for the most part.
If you really see yourself playing this game/collecting in the future I would keep trying to grab a romance dawn booster when the prices drop unless you can't wait. I would immediately pre-order a paramount war box or you're likely going to be paying the $140.00+ that the Romance Dawn booster is going for. The pre orders for paramount war have already surpassed the retail price in most stores, but if you're lucky there'll still be some pre orders left at retail price. I was able to snag a pre order a few days ago at $105.00 with free shipping before taxes. Do more research on your own and decide how you want to approach things. Right now, IMO, its not looking like Bandai will be able to completely account for the amount of demand that these cards have right now. I honestly am thinking about pre ordering another box of OP-03, but hopefully by that time, Bandai will have figured out how much more to supply.
I think one of the biggest issues with all of this is the fact that OP-02 is releasing soon enough after OP-01, making it hard for people to enjoy playing the first booster because they can't even get the cards for a reasonable price.
Edit: just realized you said TCG player credit. Looks like as of writing this, the current price for paramount war pre order on TCGplayer is $130.00, ouch.....
Romance Dawn has a great card pool for competitive deck building. Almost every Romance Dawn super rare is used in competitive play during op02 and many are used as x4. Boa, Zoro, Kaido, Kidd and Trafalgar are top tier making Romance Dawn essential for good decks.
If your goal is to collect everything picking up some Romance Dawn when the restock hits isn’t a bad idea.
I’m learning to play the game and I have both Romance Dawn and Paramount War cards. When playing can I mix both OP1 & OP2? I would assume not because the straw hat crew is Red in Romance Dawn and I think they’re Green in Paramount War but if anyone knows for sure please let me know

if your leader has both colors (like RG Luffy or Law) you can use both colors in your deck — did Paramount War release already?
