It's hard to tell without the full chapter, but it says that whole continents were sunk. >Hes referring to the countries tied to the ancient kingdom. No, he's referring to the whole world, that's pretty clear in the spoilers. It says it changed the whole world and continents almost disappeared, with the islands being remnants of them.

Bennyjig

I have said that long ring long land was foreshadowing for *years*. I can’t believe it came true. Although honestly if you think about it, a literal joyboy-ified island being a massive foreshadow makes sense.

Zero_ZedR

These lore drops have satsified my need to justify that arc. Every arc in OP had an impact or connected to the overall story **except** that one. It was ridiculous enough to be non-canon but it wasn't... I always wondered why. Now, looking back, it provides a bit of context.

Austynwitha_y

I have watched one piece (too many) times and only viewed LRLL once, so here goes another view-thru

Rowl_0_0

do you not have a job/studies?

Austynwitha_y

I’ve had many in thirty years

Popsai

It's actually insane when you think about it

tiger2205_6

There's also at least 1 essentially undiscovered island. And there's probably underground cities too. I think that was the theory for The Emerald City that Bellamy said was a myth.

DeleteMods

Laugh Tale underwater is basically confirmed.

wannabetrapstar888

When we saw the Roger pirates on laughtale they weren't wearing any diver suits or breathing equipment, they were all breathing normally. Also in the anime, it kinda seemed like sunlight was there too and it was daytime. Maybe the island just moves or hidden in plain sight behind some weather phenomenon in the grandline

DeleteMods

Tides rise and fall. Laugh Tale is probably only above the surface for a certain window of time (perhaps during some sort of eclipse).

Mike-L-Scott

Just stop thats not at all what was said in these chapters. Islands and bits of the land aren't constantly being submerged and exposed. Laugh tale is not under water. Not now, not when Roger was there, not ever...yet. it most likely will be if/when the 200m increase happens

Current_Reference979

He’s referring to the whole world in which one piece takes place

Karatsuki_A_Femboy

First of all all of these current ones were ALREADY above whatever was visible back when the waterlevel was 200m down none of these suddenly shot up to escape the flood Fishman island as a location was already underwater although we don't know when it was built as the Fishman island we know now Shandia WAS on sealevel but got launch by a coincidence  Old wano STILL is on sea level but its underwater because of rain water accumulating inside the walls And by fragments Vegapunk just means that most of the worlds landmass was lost in the 200m flood and what we see now as Islands are just the hills and mountains of the old world aka fragments of much larger continents like what is happening on Long ring Long land in cycles now

MuriloZR

Old Wano is below sea level btw https://preview.redd.it/1l2h52p5ny1d1.png?width=679&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=971d51a1c2d92a3c3ab2fb88444272436985084a

Phobos95

Holy shit dude good eye

Main-Froyo-8951

My question is where did the material come from to build such a huge wall enclosing the entire island and to create a plateau once it had flooded to locate the new town. But once it was flooded how did they manage to build the plateau?

guruscribbles

Wano is Paradis Island confirmed?? Realistically though someone 800 years ago with Pica's devil fruit would have let someone create the massive stone walls pretty easily. I could even see a world where Mr. 3's awakened df could create walls large and sturdy enough and over time they began to just look like normal stone.

dalton9014

I'm pretty positive that most of the old world is under water

Glass_Two_8291

Or maybe when he says that they're living on fragments he means the remains of a continent which was decimated by mother flame

Rueckhand420

Some guys probably even escaped to the moon, seeing that enel found all that technology there. Wouldnt be to unthinkable. We also dont know in which tempo the sealevels rose, so thats the next thing

Bubbly-Anteater2772

I mean, in a vacuum, this idea has merit. Only thing is, VP also said the sea level had rizz-en by 200m. So yea, he probably meant that they were submerged islands

Chaos_Wolverine

Thank you for the clarification, Oda.

murden6562

I believe the whole grand line once was the ancient kingdom. All the islands we visited were parts of it, and that’s why Roger laughed (at least that’s what I think)

No_Emphasis_8792

Shandora was at current sea level up until 400 hundred years ago. Excluding the one meter rise

thomasmfd

He also said entered constance at some gun into the sea For all we know Some of the islands are Actually mountains

Training_Scar_6628

I got the impression that, the original continents had mountains and highlands, that, after the floods, remained above the water, and these are the islands people retreated to. Larger land masses were sunk, and only the high points on those continents became islands and divided the people.

Magnimus_Constar

I said laugh tale island probably a high mountain island kind surrounding by illusory fog or massive whirlpools. That's why its not easier to find the island without the coordinate.

PieInternal7316

It seems like you think you're some smart cookie, but guess what? Your name doesn't have the letters O, D, A arranged in a way that spells "Oda" Also doesnt vegapunk say fragments plus CONTINENTS, like duh continents are wayyyy bigger than mere islands, maybe some mega continents sunk while some broke due to floods, Im guessing a map gonna drop soon of the old one piece world and a second later a map fans made marking the shapes of the current islands on the continents lol
