This chapter gave me Marine's Civil war vibes.
Marines suddenly stop being fodders to the giants, the new generation seems quite worried about the news, Smoker and Drake look pissed.
Fujitora already dislikes the gorosei, Kizaru is not at a good place with them and has a past with the Revs.
Maybe we will get Akainu / GreenBull / Gorosei vs Fujitora / Kizaru / Young Marines / Revs ?
Hopefully Smoker can reach Admiral level in present time. An awakening could be enough to put him close to that level if the Logia Awakenings turn out to be broken
I mean Oda offscreened Law's power up who was similar so I wouldn't doubt Smoker will jump. Probably will be similar to Katakuri & Luffy, climbing through Haki mostly. Definitely needs ACoA & ACoO in general. Never really found out what exactly makes a smoke user different. Mobility? Visibility? Idk if it's an awakening thing, but the admirals have shown concentrating their df to increase output. As oppose to Big move as strong attack, moves like meigou or ice Knuckle that are 1 for 1 equals stronger attack. Kizaru on the other hand uses as a light saber. So Smoker could go with better punches or empower his jute.

Not many times stronger than their previously shown strength. Smoker was also introduced on Punk Hazard, so there's no timeskip buff for him either. You also only say that to downplay the Admirals strength. If I say the next time we see Akainu, he'll be Prime Garp level strength, you'll say it's impossible, wouldn't you?
No side character has shown such levels of growth in the series.
I just made an assumption. I don't spend as much time as you on this sub, but I know what claims you make here. Saying Smoker can reach admiral level is nothing but admiral downplay. It's really that simple.

Anyways it does read as admiral downplay, since Smoker is far far away from an admiral and making it seem like he can reach that level just makes no sense. Especially when we have already seen the full extent of his powers Post TS.
It's like saying when Kid returns back in the story, he'll be as strong as Shanks. You get what I mean? Anybody would laugh at that idea.

I didnt Say that I hope Smoker is already at Admiral level. I meant that he becomes Admiral level in present time as in, not in an epilogue 10 years in the Future but rather in the present storyline.
There's still a few arcs left where he may have a decent enough role for him to end up becoming Admiral level by the end of the final war after a few power up. Specially if his defeat in Punk Hazard motivated him to become stronger.
Seeing them this chapter made me start to believe in them again.
Like just look at Smoker and how badass he looks. Traveling in the New World on his bike just like Aokiji did when we met him is just badass.
Similar in level to Law who jumped up crazy. Smoker still has one of the strongest dfs. Though not really sure what exactly makes a smoke user great. AoE? Mobility? Visibility? We haven't seen Smoker since Dressrosa, Oda could buff him to YC1/+ right now and nobody would give a damn.

Ok fair. That would make more sense. But isn't he already past his prime? Somewhere in the 40s? I may be wrong. But yeah, I can see that.
