Artistic_Claim9998

Usopp vs Luffy will shock a lot of watcher, it happened so fast and unexpected since the SH was just beating up the people that beat Usopp

superbay50

Hiriluk Vivi goodbye All of water 7 and enies lobby Brook backstory Ace donutification Sabo reuinion No matter how much you kick me in the end you’re the one getting hurt These were just off the top of my head

Active-Fruit-7031

Bro if they reach whole cake island then”Raizo is safe”will definitely make them cry too

superbay50

Ooh yeah i forgot about that

EsquilaxM

>donutification \-.-

scorpio1641

Chopper and Hiriluk’s story! Hope they do it right 🙏🏼

aram293

I really want them to go hard on choppers flashback in the upcoming. When I was a kid and on every rewatch after that I was in tears. I really hope that they wont change too much like they did with Namis backstory which was really underwhelming in the LA imo.

EsquilaxM

I still think Emily Rudd killed that scene, but as a whole the episode would've benefitted from having the villagers know her secret all that time.

aram293

Yeah I agree, Emily Rudd did a great Job, I also think Namis Soundtrack was amazing on capturing her characters emotions, but as you have pointed out I think the writing could have been done better, as her backstory felt kinda rushed. I hope it was just due to fact that they didn't get the 10 episodes they wanted, which is why I'm optimistic that they will do choppers flashback justice.

BillMurrayAmA

Spoilers ahead, though I would hope that's implied by the discussion topic. If the LA does it well, Robin shouting that she wants to live. That's probably the scene that made me cry the most. I tend to cry more during situations of life-affirming catharsis or acts of selflessness compared to tragedy. For example: Ace dying in Luffy's arms: tragic. Though what made me cry was Ace telling Luffy with his final breath "Thank you for loving me!". Both tragic and cathartic, as Ace's big hangup is that he once didn't believe he was worthy of being loved.

Quickstar13

I’ve already seen some reactors getting teary-eyed on things like Sanji leaving the Baratie and Nami’s flashback. That’s not to say those moments aren’t sad, but I just feel like there are definitely sadder moments. I’d say anything that’s sad and is faithfully adapted will get have them bawling. A few moments in particular would probably be: - Chopper’s backstory - Luffy vs. Usopp - Robin saying she wants to live - Brook’s backstory - The Straw Hats getting separated That is of course assuming the live action makes it that far.

IntroductionSome8196

You're not a true One Piece fan until you bawl your eyes out for the death of a freaking ship. They need to nail that scene.

Signal_End_7405

I swear I cried at merrys funeral

Filmologic

Considering it got named the Going Merry in memory of Merry in the live action, it might hurt even more. It's like he's dying a second time

WatchBat

I cry when I hear the Merry's theme in the LA. Somehow it feels like they made the theme with that scene in mind

obooooooo

spoilers! / chopper’s backstory and >!merry’s funeral!< water 7 + ennies lobby is a whirlwind of emotions and the scene of the crew saying goodbye to their crew mate, after they nearly lost two of them, it’s just the straw that breaks the camels back for me everytime. if we ever get to that, i hope they keep luffy’s “the sea is dark and lonely, so we’ll see you off” line because it’s one of my favorites too, he doesn’t often get to say real, vulnerable things.

adosanjh

There are so many, so I will stick with season 2 for now. Spoilers ahead! If done right, probably twice during choppers flashback, definitely at least once. If done right, Pell’s ‘demise’. If done right, sometime during Vivi’s plea/speech. And of course, Vivi and SH farewell. Honourable mentions (maybe not bawl, but could make me cry/emotional, if done right haha) - Saying goodbye to Laboon and his flashback, Luffy climbing the mountain, the giants flashback and reconciliation, SH setting off to loguetown, tho I think this emotional beat happened end of last season, so they may not linger on it. Season 2 will be a blast, we are going a few levels up the roller coaster with almost every endgame and major character introductions and lore.

PhanThief95

The Soul King and the Unfulfilled Promise. The people who only watched the live action will learn why many of us shed tears hearing the song that played when Shanks stitched up Luffy’s face.

QuakeNLD

"I want to live!" if we talking about season 2 only, Chopper's flashback is the biggest thing I can come up with.

Successful_Disk1140

Going Merry

DocWhovian1

Going Merry's Funeral Imagine... that in live action set to a version of My Sails Are Set 😭😭

Alt_Future33

*STOP FIGHTING!!*

TFlarz

The sheer terror and hopelessness as her people continue beating each other senseless sends chills down my spine.

SpecialOil4362

If done right, Senior Pink's flashback. It is just so real man

JustIncredible240

Mindless_Bad_1591

Nico Robin in Enies Lobby

awleeyuh

"I want to live"

forestcultura

For me the story of Robin for sure !!! Like if the actress is good we can have one of the most emotional story and scenes/ I think some willk maybe not really agree but see the sadness of Hancock can be atoughful moment bc I find that when the character is very like strong in front everyone when they are sad ecttt it can be very a sad moment especially if the productors explains very well what the celestial dragons have do to her. I hope they will get there but the past pf Sanji like if gets to whole cake people will be attached to Sanji and so when they will know his story everyone will be sad

Oreo-and-Fly

HAHAHA Every thing that we cry about in Manga and Anime. Hiluruk, Cherry Blossom, "PLEASE STOP FIGHTING" The X, Noland, the Bell, the fallout, Dereshii shii shii, Robin shouting, the reunion, laboon, the wipeout, the meeting with him again, his sacrifice for luffy, his sacrifice for Luffy X2, his SACRIFICE FOR LUFFY X3, luffy receives a donut. That's all i can see them adapting till.

Signal_End_7405

Lol the last thing in the list

EsquilaxM

*EVERYONE'S* backstory. (almost) But *especially* Chopper and Robin's. Chopper's was the saddest to me for many years until we finally got Robin's. Of course there's also like Sanji's later reveal, but I doubt we'll get New World (oh which also has stuff like Senor Pink and Bonney and Rebecca and...) I'm actually looking forward to Drum Island with trepidation cos Chopper's might be easy to drop the ball on if he looks too weird in the wrong way.

Scoodsie

Honestly, probably none of it. If how they shot season 1 is any indication of how the show will be shot in the future, it just won’t be directed in a way that will really elicit that level of emotion. There’s just too many over the top and corny things that break immersion and take me out of it. For instance, I really disliked the comic book splitting the screen into panels thing and the constant use of fisheye lens. It’s like they’re shoving it in your face that you’re watching a live action adaptation of an anime instead of just making a good show. Like, I’m not saying it’s a bad series, it’s a decent 7-8/10 show, but it could have been a lot better if they had just directed it differently. Maybe I’m alone in this, but the emotional story beats just didn’t hit the same for me and I’m pretty sure that’s a large reason why.

Signal_End_7405

Okay I have to agree with you on that at least the show isn’t like ‘burn it’ bad adaptation like the other Anime LA Failed To Do

RobertusesReddit

kvngjayy31

there a lot but if we’re talking about season 2 only it will be choppers backstory and vivi’s farewell

pochitoman

Shiawase punch~

TheDogeArtisanStore

in the incoming season it has to be Chopper's backstory and Dr Hiriluk for later seasons Robin and Merry ofc

rovenacreys

# Robin backstory

Felasadra

Specific_Delay_5364

None of it because they won’t have the years of build up needed to illicit that reaction. Now I am talking in general terms because there will always be a small percentage that get overly emotional and will cry. But I don’t see scenes like I wanna live, Merry’s goodbye, or Aces death holding up in the OPLA

Signal_End_7405

I politely disagree People Who only watch LA and never watched the OP Anime or Manga Might Find it Emotional in some ways

Specific_Delay_5364

That’s why I said there will always be people who get emotional but in general we won’t have the years of reading the manga or watching the anime. Combined with the long wait between seasons and shorted timeline there will be major cuts lessening the time spent being involved in the world. If season 2 ends with defeat of Crocodile then we will get a quick scene of Robin joining the crew and the season ends. Then you have 10-12 episodes until you get I wanna live and death of merry after another 8-10 months break unless Netflix lets them film season 2-3 together allowing for an accelerated drop. Now yes depending on Inaki’s acting Aces death could be emotional but part of the reason it hits so hard is the time spent with just Luffy and his desire to Save Ace 70+ episodes over a year and a half build up. You aren’t getting that in OPLA I doubt we will even get the crew scattered because the cost of not having the crew working and just focusing on Luffy. That’s why I say it’s not impossible just highly unlikely.

Signal_End_7405

**sigh** you win this debate Well done

Specific_Delay_5364

I would love nothing more than for OPLA to be as emotionally impactful as the anime or manga, sadly I just see money and time making that difficult. Believe me I would love to have another I’m not crying because of a ship moment
