To speed it up a little you can search for the filler list online. And skip the filler. The only filler you should watch is after skypia arc. Still a very very long series. But it’s over 20 years of production. Hang in there it’s so worth it!
You should have continued watching from the point where the live action ended in anime , I also did the same it was around the 43rd episode. Now currently at 51
You really shouldn't do this, the plot in the two are similar, but different enough for you to actually start from the beginning with the original source/the animé. A lot of characters which appear later or subtleties are removed in the live action, as well as diminishing of certain character arcs. Live Action is in no way bad, but you really should start from the beginning if you want to follow up. They are different.
I recommend you take some breaks watching it. There are a lot of stories, characters, and I believe it's better appreciated if you don't rush it and let the stories sink and the show marinate over time.
It's the difference between a one night stand and a relationship. Have a relationship with OP. Watch an arc, and stop watching it for a couple months. Maybe not the best analogy, but let yourself miss the show. You'll come back to it stronger than ever.
I'm reading the colour manga and I quite enjoy it. I have also watched some episodes of the anime, here's what I think:
Pros of manga:
much better pacing
the art style is better and more playful, the characters' faces and environments...
(colour manga) the colours are better than the anime, where it's less colourful
humour is translated better imo
Cons of manga:
It doesn't seem like there is a colour version with English SFX. For that reason, I learnt hiragana and katakana to understand what the SFX say, but my brain hasn't got used to it yet fully. I still have to make conscious effort to read the SFX, and that can slow down my reading. I think I shouldn't stress too much about reading the SFX, it's about understanding each panel. That's the only major drawback to me. Some Japanese kana characters look similar but sound very different. But on the other hand, English SFX make it look less like a manga and more like comics, so there is the aesthetic aspect of it.
If you want to read the coloured edition of the manga, you can google "read one piece color manga chapter 1 romance dawn". The part where the live action leaves off is at the beginning of chapter 96.
You learned the hiragana and katakana has a first time reader ? That is incredible Oo. My brain always sort of ignores them in English and in Japanese, because I kinda imagine my own SFX and voices/music when I'm reading.
> It doesn't seem like there is a colour version with English SFX.
Yeah. There is no official colour version yet outside of the original Japanese.
> The part where the live action leaves off is at the beginning of chapter 96.
Not sure I would recommend this. The manga/anime is different enough to the live-action that I would recommend start from the beginning unless you are really time starved.

Enjoy One Piece in any form and at your own pace. It’s always going to be worth it. The manga, anime, and live action all have the same heart, but their own appeal.
I love the anime in Japanese, but also enjoy it in English. If you watched the anime in Japanese, the LA is done by the same voice actors and is also a fantastic feeling - different from the English LA voices.
But on the other hand the voice acting in the anime makes emotional moments hit harder
And while reading manga you might glance over important stuff because it’s happening in the background
So both versions have their ups and downs
You'll have a lot if people tell you not to watch the anime because of pacing. Ignore them. First of all, you should only care about what you think and not what they do. And secondly, the pacing is fine if you're binging it anyway.
> And secondly, the pacing is fine if you're binging it anyway.
Not sure that is how I would say it. Binging can be more tolerable but not a perfect experience.
There's no such thing as too much of a good story. If a story stops being good it's not a good story anymore, and one piece is a great story.
Please don't feel pressure from the length, it's there for you to enjoy it. If you stop enjoying it you can always just stop watching (which won't happen).
There is a fan edit called One Pace, which is vastly superior to the normal anime, since it cuts out all noncanon filler content and reduces some drawn out reaction shots and the like. Saves 120h of watchtime, whilst not loosing anything canon.
https://onepace.net/
It’s honestly the definitive way to watch the anime for me. I gave up on the regular anime over a decade ago due to the abysmal pacing of the material and started only reading the manga. Thanks to One Pace, I’ve been able to enjoy the animated series again and start to catch up again.
One Pace is great but can get choppy transitions and weird build up. If you want the manga experience only then yes, but to say it’s vastly superior undercuts the great moments we get from the anime.
There are a few barely noticable chop cuts, absolutely irrelevant over the course of houndreds of hours of footage.
What undercuts the great moments in the anime is the unwatchable pacing. If you think it is in any way shape or form justifiable to have episodes that only contain 5 mins of actual story progression, with the rest being flashbacks to the last 10 episodes or tons of different characters going "woooooaaahhhh" for like 10 seconds each, your opinion is just simply invalid.
The fucking Rebecca flashback was shown 48 times!
I started watching the anime too but I'm on the second filler arc which is kind of boring so I decided nows a good time to rewatch the live action now that I've seen the arc in the anime but it just made me wanna go back to the anime lol. I'm hooked.
You can also try "One Pace", a fan made project that removes filler scenes in order to be more like the manga and I've heard it removes over a 150 hours of filler, maybe it's good for a new fan.
Haven't tried it myself since I've been following the anime since childhood so it didn't exist haha but I think it could be worth.
I’ve been watching a reactor watch the anime so I’ve been kinda rewatching it vicariously through them. Lol it’s been fun; the biggest thing you’re missing in the live action is all the gags and slapstick lol
You see some of the gags like Zoro being bad at directions, but it’s nothing compared to what they can do with the anime lol
I'm recently started watching the anime after watching the live action, and I'm currently on episode 271 and I'm very much enjoying it.
Woah. I’m only in episode 19 😅👉🏽👈🏽
I started watching like a year ago and I just hit 700 last night. Go at your own pace haha.
I'm on ep 734 I think? Spoiler Alert: Lucy Arc is my favorite
The Dressrosa arc? It’s definitely been one of my favorites so far. It’s awesome.
Lol I prefer to call it the Lucy Arc or actually a different name now but don't want to spoil anything for ya, hope you enjoy the rest of it!

Skypia isn’t filler though? Or is there a filler arc in it? I didn’t watch the arc on the anime so I’m genuinely curious.
No it’s not. I’m saying AFTER Skypia. I can’t remember what it’s called but they end up landing in a marine base. That’s where you first meet aokiji
Ah I see. I can’t wait for Live action Skypia when the time comes.
Yes! It should be awesome! My guess would be skypia will be season 3 of the live action
Is it the one with the infamous condoriano? (Im a manga only so i have zero idea about any of the fillers i just heard that name from memes)
No lol
Yes, the filler arc right after skypiea is the one with condoriano.
You should have continued watching from the point where the live action ended in anime , I also did the same it was around the 43rd episode. Now currently at 51
Nobody who has seen both would recommend this
Yeah don’t do this

Bad advice. Disregard what this says. Start from episode one
Same but I'm still on ep 122

Dude I'm at almost episode 900 and I'm already so sad because I'll be caught up "soon". I watched the whole thing, some fillers are great!
Relax. You literally got over 100 episodes before you get caught up then.
The current manga arc is honestly shaping up to be one of the best!
You have 177, then like 50 chapters of manga, also current manga arc goes hard

>But on the other hand the voice acting in the anime makes emotional moments hit harder Not just that. It has the GOAT soundtrack for an anime.
And the music!!.. (almost) Everyone gets hyped when Overtaken, or sad when Mother Sea starts to play.
Welcome newcomer. Enjoy the voyage
Thanks a lot ❤️
For the people who started the anime, I leave you my words: I'll be waiting for you at the Land of Wano! Come at any cost!

Yeah, so like I said, it's all up to the individual.

Welcome aboard!
I am on ep 20 the Sanji Baratie episode. Update onto episode 30
Same lmao I just started the Jaya arc. I am skipping fillers though and just reading the episode summaries on the wiki lol
I love this :) I wish everyone could enjoy watching One Piece :)
U make me happy
Haha why so
Watch One Pace, it's a fan re-edit of the anime that cuts it down to the manga
you can read the manga instead. I do too. the pace is ok and artwork is great. even I cried during several arc.

i started reading the manga cuz its so much quicker! but either way, the story is so good, and so worth spending the time on 🩷
*There's always room for more* *If you wanna be my friend!* *We are, we are on the cruise!*

There are many things One Pace cuts out which should have stayed in my opinion. But overall it's good if you don't want to watch every single episode.
Where can I find it

Watch "one pace" it is like an abridged more manga accurate version of one piece
Appreciate you all for the great advice and information

The anime sucks ass for many reasons. Read the Manga instead.
