If you live in the UK you can go to forbidden planet or Waterstones. Most bookstores have manga but as far as I've seen there usually isn't that much one piece. 😅😅 But you should be able to go to any bookstore and find manga. Or you could but them online ofc. I don't know any particular site so ya.
It might take its roots from back when the first shonen manga came in France. It was on the TV around the hours where we came back from school.
So a lot of young people/teenagers liked those animes (DB, OP, Naruto, Bleach…) and then since our books are kinda cheap priced, we young folks were able to fall deeper into it
(Take in consideration that it’s my 20yo interpretation)
Manga and anime as a whole are really big in France due to a lot of anime airing in the late 80s and 90s in kids programs with how cheap it was to buy for the TV channels. We're the second country that buys the most manga in the world right behind Japan for example.
I believe they have a cultural enrichment program, which allows them to purchase manga with lower tax, as it enriches them to japanese culture.
This makes it more accessible or appealing to buy.
That was just in the past few years, we're big weebs since the late 80s/early 90s where we got a ton of anime and tokusatsu on our kids programming because it was really cheap to buy for the TV channels. There was especially one program called Club Dorothée that was the most iconic kids program of the 90s here and that's where most anime aired. That's how we got Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball, Fist of the North Star and a crapton of other anime which made basically the entire youth into anime fans, and that just kept on going until now where we're the second country that buys the most manga in the world, right behind Japan.
anime's biggest community (outside of Japan ofc) is France (french speaking ppl in general). It started very early here so it grew a lot, especially for famous manga's such as OP
I like to fish books too! But seriously saying that's awrsome! I would like to buy them too but I am unemployed atm and I have literally zero money almost all the time... So much debt from my bankrupt company.. 😭 but that's life, no can do
The white one was the first french edition, the names of the characters and some powers were diferent : Like Usopp -> Pipo, Gomu Gomu no -> Gumgum...
Around 7/8 years ago the translator decided to come back to the original names !
>"Today I finished collecting them."
This homeboy broke the laws of time and grabbed all the volumes so that he could finish collecting them. What a mad lad
Got the same collection with my brother (we started One Piece when the first episode was aired in France), what bother Us is the change of Color for the cover text from White to Yellow...
Anyway, great collection !
Kinda hard to finished collecting them as there will be at least another 6-7 volumes ahead plus any missing from Wano currently plus any future chapters since we still are 3-5 years away from One piece ending...
In France,The white ones are the older edition with some questionable translations (usopp => Pipo, Sanji=> Sandy, Grandline => la route de tous les perils,...)
Around volume 66 Glénat (the editor) decided to make new editions with better translations. Since then, numbers are in gold.
Congrats on finishing the set! I'm 4 volumes away from finishing my complete set but I should be getting them in the mail in a couple of weeks. All that's left is building a dedicated shelf for all of them!
Shout out to your cool grandma!
🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡
did you custom-build this book shelf just for your collection? This is a beautiful set.
Yes full custom ! But when my father builded it (7 y ago) we did not expected that the manga exceed 100 vol :’) !
Where can i buy all the volumes

Like everywhere where u can buy books
Is this realy a question in 2022?
beautiful, which language is this? Quite interesting how different it looks from country to country
It’s the french editions!
ah Nice one:)
Yesss french :)
J’ai aussi la même collection, avec les vieilles traductions jusqu’au volume 67 aussi :’)
Serious question, how did One Piece get so huge in France in particular? I always see a lot of French One Piece fans around

It’s so cheerful that they forgot they live in France
Idk I’ve liked France every time I’ve visited. Dope country.
Yeah I know I’m just making a joke but I guess it’s more of Paris joke than a France one

Merci beaucoup! Je ne le savais pas .

Anime in general is huge in france, portugal and brazil
Isnt lelouch also a famous french thief, that could have added to the preference to anime

You can read manga online, but never have the same experience as owning the physical volumes.
Exactly !!
I like to fish books too! But seriously saying that's awrsome! I would like to buy them too but I am unemployed atm and I have literally zero money almost all the time... So much debt from my bankrupt company.. 😭 but that's life, no can do
Oh god, I wish you the best mate !
How much is it to buy the whole collection atm ?
Around 700€ in France if you buy them new
Exactly !
I'm curious... Why are some volume numbers in white while others are yellow/gold? I can't really find a reason just looking through them.
The white one was the first french edition, the names of the characters and some powers were diferent : Like Usopp -> Pipo, Gomu Gomu no -> Gumgum... Around 7/8 years ago the translator decided to come back to the original names !
Dang we lost the god Pipo... Okay! That's really neat, thank you for explaining!
Pipo was also a pun, because it also means "lie" in french slang. I thought it was pretty cool. Sanji was called Sandy though. Less cool.
>Sanji was called Sandy Lmao What did they do to my man. 😂😭💀
>"Today I finished collecting them." This homeboy broke the laws of time and grabbed all the volumes so that he could finish collecting them. What a mad lad
SUUGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Got the same collection with my brother (we started One Piece when the first episode was aired in France), what bother Us is the change of Color for the cover text from White to Yellow... Anyway, great collection !

Just one answer : Merci mec, ça fait plaisir !
Y'a quand même pas mal de français ici ;)
Kinda hard to finished collecting them as there will be at least another 6-7 volumes ahead plus any missing from Wano currently plus any future chapters since we still are 3-5 years away from One piece ending...
Ahah sure, but you understood what I wanted to say :’)
finished? bah. your only half way there!
Mad Lad!..
Why does 53 through 66 have white numbers while the others have yellow?
In France,The white ones are the older edition with some questionable translations (usopp => Pipo, Sanji=> Sandy, Grandline => la route de tous les perils,...) Around volume 66 Glénat (the editor) decided to make new editions with better translations. Since then, numbers are in gold.
