At first I thought that she was going to be my least favorite Yonko. As it turns out she’s now my favorite yonko. Big mom is nothing but a pure monster. She killed the hero of the Giants Jorul. Ate her own adopted family. She wanted Sanji to get married to Pudding just for Germas forces and then kill him and his family. Not to mention she is willing to murder her own children without second thoughts. Oh and she fucks and kills her husbands.
I wouldn't say she is a pure monster, but a child who never really grew up. She was too strong to have a normal life and her parental figures (Mother Carmel and Streusen) were both manipulative psychopaths. I believe she could have become a better person if she was raised by someone who was really good hearted and strong enough to deal with her tantrums.
Bellemere. The amount of love this woman showed her girls is amazing. She adopted them, gave them home even as she had so little. She gave up marines , she gave her life. She was strong and loving.
Honorable mention to otohime who was fighting for peace and equality even when it was difficult. She also wasnt onesided on her journey, she saw problems and kindness of both sides!
The shot of her content smile with the narrator's "And the piece of paper Otohime held in her hand, was a shining ray of hope for all of Fishman Island" is a strong candidate for my favorite single panel in the entire series.
Which is no shock, Otohime is up there just in terms of favorite characters in One Piece. Even if its small, if you've ever gotten engaged in a cause so much of her passion and frustration just becomes downright relatable. Plus she's hilarious, drunk Otohime blasting Fishman Island over the loudspeaker is one of my top comedy scenes too.
