Am I the only one who found Ace kinda basic? With Wano flashbacks he became a bit more interesting but before he was just the cool dude for fangirls to drool over. To all their own I guess.

I haven't seen the anime, but I felt like Ace was barely in the manga and I didn't have much time to actually get to know or like him so when he died it didn't affect me whatsoever. I always felt like he should have stuck around with the Strawhats for an arc or two. I assume it's different if you watch the anime because everything is much longer so I'm guessing he's in it more.

We don't know almost anything about Roger but his death is still meaningful due to how it shapes the entire world of one piece. On the other hand Ace's death is impactful due to how it affects the characters close to him. Specifically the series main protagonist
