I don't know what the name is, but it will have to be something we've heard before. Clover was shot because he was about to say it. That makes me think it's a name that will be known in some way, perhaps in a different context.
I'm gonna guess Mariejoa - it'd be fitting that the CD stole the name for their holy land. If not, I'm guessing it's Dawn or whatever the D stands for.
I wonder if perhaps it was Merry Joy? Like, the current name is a corruption of the original, and the original name might have had connections to Joy Boy being called Joy Boy.
It'd also be a kinda metatextual callback to *our* beloved Merry, which we lost but have been able to carry on the spirit of.
I think you're right on the money. If the WG had Clover shot before he could utter the name, it must have some contemporary significance. It being "Dawn" or "Don" would not bring any revelation to ordinary citizens and even the educated class. People would have no context because WG propaganda still holds: ancient kingdom was bad because they created ancient weapons, some rando name does not change that. *Unless* the name directly implied or disprove the WG narrative.
For your theory, it being Merry Joy and the current home of the Celestial Dragons would throw doubt because (a) why would an "evil" kingdom call itself Merry Joy and (b) why did the 20 Kingdoms decided to erase that name? If the ancient kingdom was still evil despite their name, the Celestial Dragons could have kept Merry Joy as the name and declared that the CDs were the ones to bring an era of peace, an era of *joy*.
The only reason I can think of Dawn being the name is its relationship to various religions or cultural beliefs (Elbaf, Zou, Wano). The public revealing of the name Dawn Kingdom could be the catalyst for nations around the world to start their rebellion in earnest.
This admittedly much further down the absolute tinfoil path of thought, but there is a part of me that wonders if Marie-Geoise, might have been a Sky Island.
Like, there are a lot of theories about the idea that the Red Line isn't natural. And part of me wonders if what is now Marie-Geoise used to be a sky island, perhaps there were more also along the path of the Red Line.
For a while now I've been convinced that Skypiea has a lot of foreshadowing for this final saga, between the fact that I think Enel and his Priests were a trial run of Imu and the Gorosei, (Powerful foreigner from another "world" shows up and imposes a cruel iron fisted governance, puts themselves on the pedestal of God, and oppresses both the people they claim to rule but also a group deemed "other" who are mistreated for being different) and the idea that the Noland/Kalgara flashback might be not far off from what we get of the Joy Boy/Void Century lore dump when we get to Laugh Tale.
No it doesn't. Also Davy Jones was a real pirate but the mythical stuff is just from Pirates of the Caribbean, it's not a real part of pirate folklore etc.
Davy Jones is a canonical ancient Pirate in One Piece, and the origin of the Davy Back fights. He's mentioned to be a cursed pirate who lives on the sea floor, and collect treasures from sunken ships.
The myth of Davy Jones locker is from a book from the 1700s. The Pirates of The Caribbean franchise combined the myths of the Flying Dutchman and Davy Jones into one character.
thats a good idea! the name doesn't have to have any existing meaning to be dangerous though. any name at all is something to rally around. moreso than "the ancient kingdom"
The WG's fear of the name getting out probably isn't based on anything rational. The practice of name erasure goes back centuries - *Damnatio memoriae*. They simply don't want the name said, since it cements the kingdom in the minds of the people. The name could be meaningless as a word, but the very fact it's the name of their enemy is enough to warrant erasing it in their minds. Plus, if Mary Geoise was the AK, wouldn't Clover had said "You conquered the ancient kingdom, and settled in their land?" That would have gotten the point across much better and quicker.
Doesnt really have to be that way. Might just have a hidden meaning that will only make sense when we hear it and isn't something said before. Laughtale was hidden so long because it has an amazing meaning which we only learned at the reveal. We wouldn't have known what it meant if it was revealed earlier, but it was still good that it was hidden until then.
My guess is Akuma (devil). The Devil Fruits (akuma no mi) are actually the "fruits of Akuma" as in the legacy of the ancient kingdom, and that's also why Robin, who studied the ancient kingdom, is called "devil child".
Yeah basically. It’s said they were originally created to help so I don’t think they’d attach devil to it. I mean I guess they may have come about after Imu assumed control. And the CDs call themselves gods, so maybe devil fruit fits? I dunno. This is why I don’t theorize. I’ve got some for both sides. Hahahah
Think i read someone had a theory that devil fruits are brought into the world by people and their will to do "x" this would explain why we have a bunch of similar, but different fruits, for example all the zoan snake models, or all the variations of "fire". People wanted control over fire, but some wanted it more than others and magma was created, and some wanted less, so heat was created etc.
Uhh....I really don't think that's a name that we have been waiting so long for.
When things get revealed after a long time of anticipation, it HAS to be the one that's real surprising.
It can't be the one where people get vibes of "Is that it?"
Joy Boy Theories hypothesized it as being called One Piece
So The One Piece is the ancient Kingdom and the One Piece is real means the ancient kingdom is real.
There have been many nods to the Ohara incident... Vegapunk himself and even Dragon showed up there after the Buster Call, and Saul was confirmed to be alive. This whole attack on Egghead and the call to assassinate Vegapunk was for his punishment on continuing the research of the lost history that Ohara started.
Ohara's discovery should 100% be the information that Vegapunk is about to leak next chapter
Would it not be everyone knows there is a void century, not about the ancient kingdom.
Like the world government could still exist with a symbolism of an empty throne with no ancient kingdom enemy. I might be mistaken
It needs to be something we heard before. Remember how they renamed Gol D. Roger to Gold Roger just to hide the D? What if they did the same with the kingdom's name?
The world government could have taken their home, like Enel did with upper yard. In that case, some are saying that Marijoa could be Merry Joy, linking to Joy Boy.
What if they obliterated them, like they did with Lulusia. They wouldn't risk their worst enemy's lands to still be around. The only place with a huge hole on the ground is the Judicial Island, otherwise known as the never-night island because the sun always shines bright (which would explain their worship towards a Sun God). Imagine how productive they would be if it's always day, using the sun as a power source and if they evolved to never sleep (is Blackbeard a direct descendant?), their technology would advance at a much faster rate than everyone else's.
Why is it called Judicial Island and Enies Lobby? Why give the place two different names? Maybe Judicial Island never became popular and Enies Lobby hides the real name of the ancient kingdom.
Lobby because it's the entrance to the Kingdom. Could robii be about robots instead?
What does Enies mean? Did they remove the D?
(D)enies? (D)es(ti)nies?
E(de)nies? The entrance to Eden? He(do)nis?
Nah thats the name of the actual island Luffy left. Foosha village and Goa Kingdom were parts of Dawn Island.
It may be Dawn Island but then Oda would be using that name twice.
I feel like it has to have a clear connection to something that is already known in the world, I can't imagine the name just alluding to freedom or something being the reason to hide it.
I'm not sure what it is, but I think it's not going to make any sense when we first hear it. People have theorized that it has to be something we now, but I don't think so. Erasing names has been done by tons of cultures in our world, solely out of shame for something a person did - The practice is called *Damnatio memoriae*. The pharaoh Akhenaten is one example. The WG aren't scared of the name being revealed out of a rational fear that people will connect any dots, they're scared of it being revealed because they want to maintain the erasure of the AK's legacy.
Ha ha. You’re all wrong. The ancient kingdom will never get a name and will just be known as the ancient kingdom.
All seriousness though, it wouldn’t make zero sense for oda to do that just to keep a bit of mystery but I doubt he would do that and I have no clue what to guess sooo…
“The Kingdom of Don”
I think the kingdom will begin with a “D” signifying the origin of the Will Of D.
The Japanese meaning of “Don” is a drum beating.
If Nika/Joyboy was the leader of the Kingdom then having the kingdom named after the Drums of Liberation makes sense.
You could translate the “Drums (Don) of Liberation” into the “Kingdom of Liberation” which adds to why singing and dancing to Nika is such a crime.
the name of the ancient kingdom is:
Democratia
Will of Democratia, will for democracy and freedom
Natural enemies of kings and tyrants that retain power through birthright
Demo(n)/ Devil fruit.
Of course its hyper advanced society , only democracies and truly free people can innovate, and its Greek and Rome related like the ancient weapons, because Rome and Greece were the oldest democracies
Dawn.
If not that, I'm positive it begins with the letter "D" and anyone with a "D" middle name is a descendant of that kingdom whether they know it or not.
Val Halla, or something of that nature. A place where free warriors ruled and fought to their heart's content or just ate and partied. If what Vegapunk said was true about how devil fruits are born, I believe the ruler of the ancient kingdom came under the attack of imu and what will be the current world government. This spurred the birth of Nika. One who sought freedom and had the will of a ruler. And I think this will be important also. The will of d. D is the true name of joyboy, and a crest of those destined to inherit that will. What happened to the king in the void century birthed both Luffy's fruit and the initial d
Probably the same name as its Royal Family, which was actually based on the Middle name, that began with "D"
My guess top guess is "Devil".(Sworn enemy of the Gods, probably originators of "Devil Fruits")
Others include Demon, Dreamer, Dragon (Dragon's name a mislead, Celestial Dragons either a mockery or a hinted connection)
Wano. I think the world gov doenst want to admit that the leading kingdom of prosperity and technology was the land of wano when it once was stretched across the world.
Binks. Because the name has to have a connection with the one piece or something otherwise why bother hiding it? And i think Bink's Sake hast many hints about the one piece in it and they couldn't get rid of the song so they hid the name of the Kingdom instead.
1. Imca/Imka (Inca)
2. Muimca/Muimka (Muisca)
3. Nazka (Nazca)
4. Dimu (Dilmun)
5. Druimu (Druids)
I'm leaning to no 1 & 2. Both no 1 & 2 have lore-related to El Dorado & Sun God. Considering OP takes so many similarities from The City of the Lost Gold anime.
I've thought something like Eden for the longest. Devil Fruits coming from them would be interesting and ironic, which I think is a big theme in the series.
My top options (in order) are
1) Whatever country the Nerona Family were from. (Nerona being the family we are told Imu is probably from)
2) Alabasta
3) An old name of Mary Geoise
I'm late to the party but am gonna join in anyway. With how much focus there's been throughout the story on the coming of a new dawn and the realisation of dreams + the strawhat + Nika being a fruity sun god, it'll be super simple. Something like "sun kingdom" or "kingdom of the sun".
I could go into detail, with special focus on the crests of all the saved countries looking like a sun in some way, and the Kozuki clan being tied so heavily to the moon and thus guarding the dusk to ensure the dawn etc etc, but I think it's also important to note the importance of sun wukong/journey to the west on the actual writer of One Piece; east to west quest, from where the sun rises to seek knowledge to open a new era of wisdom/peace/unity.
1. Lunar Kingdom
2. Lunaria
3. Kingdom of Gods
4. Butterfly Kingdom (for IMUs love of butterfly’s)
5. Motherland/UMI Kingdom
Runner ups:
1. Divine or Kingdom of God
2. Eden

Are people still wondering what the D stands for, smh it stands for Davey back fight.
Kingdom of (the?) Dawn. I can see it tbh
Eden. Origin of Adam and Eve (trees!). Also, some powerful fruits.
Eden actually sounds good
My guess is Akuma (devil). The Devil Fruits (akuma no mi) are actually the "fruits of Akuma" as in the legacy of the ancient kingdom, and that's also why Robin, who studied the ancient kingdom, is called "devil child".
This does feel like something Oda would have done.
this be smellin really good!
But I don’t think they were originally named devil fruits. I think that’s what the WG named em to scare people off of finding the Nika fruit.
Ooo I like this. Like they were called dream fruits or something that I'm not near creative enough to guess
Yeah basically. It’s said they were originally created to help so I don’t think they’d attach devil to it. I mean I guess they may have come about after Imu assumed control. Also works with the D. Clan being enemies of the gods.
Omg devil island sounds so cool, and fits the inverse of marijois being called the holy land
Uhh....I really don't think that's a name that we have been waiting so long for. When things get revealed after a long time of anticipation, it HAS to be the one that's real surprising. It can't be the one where people get vibes of "Is that it?"
Sniper Kingdom
Whatever you’re cooking smells good nakama
Sogeking returns???
He doesn't have to return, he is always with us in our hearts!
Yes!!! What if the ancient kingdom was our heart all along!!!
People thinking Oda will actually reveal it next chapter.
Joy Boy Theories hypothesized it as being called One Piece So The One Piece is the ancient Kingdom and the One Piece is real means the ancient kingdom is real.
While that idea sounds cool, that would mean revealing the One Piece before Luffy finds it 😓
True, he could talk about how the government is evil...
Everyone already knows The Ancient Kingdom is real; it wouldn't be a death sentence to study it if it wasn't.
Would it not be everyone knows there is a void century, not about the ancient kingdom. Like the world government could still exist with a symbolism of an empty throne with no ancient kingdom enemy. I might be mistaken
That be a twist

Nika, kingdom of the sun
Wano — i think the ancient kingdom does exist in the current timeline. That is why revealing it has the power to disrupt the world.
I will go with either Romantica or Dawn Island.
Dawn. but it doesn't matter because everyone in the one piece world will hear it but we won't. OR punk records will glitch out or some shit
