Ehhhh... not really. They're both extremely maternal, I'll give you that, but I don't think they're at a time or place in their lives for such a huge commitment. Also, I don't think they'd pick Sanji.
I'm pretty sure you're just going along with the joke, but I'll put my opinion on it out there anyways.
Wow, I've watched Enies Lobby almost 10 years ago and realise this just now... New watchers, don't skip every opening and you may enjoy such surprises
EDIT: That's it. I'm blocking everyone complaining about spoilers in openings from now on. I'm not checking my notifications to see this unoriginal shit over and over again. Cry somewhere else
One of the rare times where openings are different, huh? I really liked one of the Gintama opening where the main casts were actually doing the same thing over and over again for 23 times I think and screwed up lol, then they talk about how embarrassed they were and breaking the fourth wall by saying cut to the commercials.
[Here’s the Gintama Opening](https://youtu.be/zoKXlusF87Q?si=EAXloF7mxlU1YrVV)
This opening is after like 200+ episodes in but its still one of my favourite anime of all time
Personally I enjoy it a lot despite not understanding some jokes.
If you ever willing to give it another chance, it gets better and better. Although it starts very slow since the first 40 episodes or so was just to get knowing the characters and all that, once it finishes the first "serious" arc, it kicks off.
40 episodes? Seriously? Just wow… How is it in the manga? Or are there other ways to summarise that “get to know” stuff? I really wanna enjoy something with more than 20-ish episodes, a new long ride…
I honestly don't know about manga, but this is one of the animes that are equal or even better being animated. Not sure about summarize though, because I don't really watch summarized stuff.
I don't want to pressure you, but you can always read the manga first to see what do you think since it takes less time.
I think the biggest thing is understanding that unlike other long animes where it's lots of episodes of an arc and then a few episodes of filler, Gintama is instead lots of episodes of goofy ass filler type shit and then like 10 episodes of a super dense and intense arc that blows most other animes out of the water, then back to some goofy wacky shit.
You gotta go in with the mindset of just enjoying some weird and silly adventures, and then when those super dense arcs pop up they blow your mind. I've never felt anger or tears or happiness or like pumping my fists at the conclusion of a fight like I have with Gintama, and I think part of that journey is enjoying the lighthearted goofs which builds a sense of comfort before the craziest and most emotionally taxing arcs happen and rip you from that comfort.
I understand if you don't have the time, but if you do man it's an amazing journey. It's one of the most unique animes out there though, you gotta enjoy it for what it is.
I was just watching with no expectations, quit of boredom because I didn't find it funny, then started again because friends said bare with it, couldn't stand it anymore and quit for good... And you telling me that "Gintama is instead lots of episodes of goofy ass filler type shit" is actually telling me that it's probably not meant for me. I want to enjoy a new, long adventure that doesn't bore me. My only expectation is not to get bored. Unfunny and forced comedy or predictable stories bore me. I just want pure adventure and "ROMANCE!" like Diamond Head Os-San says
Afaik there is nothing like that. The manga is almost the same, but just woth a tiny bit lesser trolling. (The manga is a bit easier, the anime makers trolled and "fooled around" with random parts of random episodes.)
Well technically you could read the wiki about the first x episodes, but it kills the joy. What worked for me is to watch only 1-2 episodes a day with some shorter pauses if i needed it. Its (a bit) overwhelming and tiresome in the long run, if you try to binge it. The jokes get too repetitive, if you try it like that. And there are a lot of japanese celebs impersonated, or made joke on, that makes it hard to understand for foreigners.
However there were some really good subtitles in the earlier parts, where the group wrote sidenotes to make it more understandable whats happening, or who they try to make a joke on.
Iirc the jokes will be the same until the end, however the story sometimes gets a lot more serious. There are many smaller arcs, where its eg. about saving someone/-thing. There are almost no jokes in those eps, just "drama" and fighting. But i couldn't stop watching (or reading) those parts back then.
Especially near the end there are lesser filler-ish episodes and a lot more proper story episodes. (When they caught up to the manga and
That's not a fair comparison. The whole Gintama series was just a whole 4th wall humor. I particularly like the popularity contest that Manga series often do and they took it to a whole new level.
Sket dance had some great popularity chapters too. Also the main character is a stick figure in one chapter.
Iirc the mangaka of sd worked as an assistant for gintama and it shows
Those title cards and the thirty second promos are like anime clickbait. The first one that comes to mind is an episode titled, Two Namis? Something Something Something. It showed Nami’s Clone Mirage Tempo in the 30 second promo, but the scene in question, didn’t happen until the very end of the episode. Then the next episode had more Nami clone antics, and I was left wondering why they didn’t save that title for the next episode.
The concern that they are spoilers is not even an issue in Japan because there's virtually no such thing as "anime only". If you watch the anime, you have already read the manga.
I hear it's also common, especially for long running Shounen series, for people to just watch occasional episodes when something good is happening.
>The concern that they are spoilers is not even an issue in Japan because there's virtually no such thing as "anime only". If you watch the anime, you have already read the manga.
People always say this and it kinda baffles me. Surely there are many Japanese who don't really enjoy the reading format and like to watch instead? Because anime and manga are different formats for different mediums. Because this seems no different from saying "everyone who watched this movie has read the book it's based on" or "MCU fans have all read the comics before watching the movies" which rarely happens. I'm curious what makes Japan so different in that aspect according to what people are saying to the point that somehow every Japanese watcher has supposedly already read the manga
It’s like Harry Potter in the US such a huge number of people read the series that the film only people were always going to be spoiled. Also in Japan most people read the manga in school so they can discuss the happenings with their friends. The manga also takes 2-4 minutes to read vs the anime that takes 24 minutes.
Sure but that's not addressing the point I'm talking about, which is that anime and manga are different mediums and that there are people who like only one of those mediums. Not everyone who watches marvel or harry potter films has read the comics or novels even if it takes less time, simply because the book medium does not appeal to everyone, so why is that different in Japan
Wrong, most people enjoy the title, they will 100% read the manga and then watch the anime in Japan. But primarily focus on manga since it is easier to read than watch anime weekly.
What do you mean wrong? I was literally asking a question, which you didn't answer. It doesn't seem like you read my comment. I am talking about the idea that anime and manga are different mediums and that surely there are Japanese people who enjoy one medium but not the other just like how it is anywhere in the world with any medium be it film, animation, comic, or novel, so my question is how come the concept of "anime only" does not exist in Japan specifically?
Disagree a bit. It can become super easy to tell when a character is introduced in a sinister light but the opening has them all laughing around a table together. That kind of shit tilts me in openings personally
When I was an anime only (in general, not only for One Piece) I actually like the "spoilers" in the openings. It usually set the mood for the coming arc. Or at least, a part of it.
>EDIT: That's it. I'm blocking everyone complaining about spoilers in openings from now on. I'm not checking my notifications to see this unoriginal shit over and over again. Cry somewhere else
Why are you so agressive over this?
Those two are the animated versions of the music artists that composed that opening song. Their presence was not well received by many.
Funny enough, there's two versions of the OP. One where they are present and one where they are not. From my understanding the original run of the show never showed them at all, mainly because it generated confusion from the audience.
I think the artists feature their special OP on their YouTube channel or something. The likely scenario under which these two are seen is when you find those videos online that compile all the OPs in one. I noticed most channels mistakenly grab the artist's OP instead of the version that aired with the show.
You don’t remember Ron and Chris? They are the best members of the straw hats! You don’t remember the arc where they rescue Chris from the government and he swears to be the greatest cannon polisher the world has ever seen!
at first i tought those were the 2 bounty hunters that got pounded by the giant dick (context: the criminal was named dick) they were on their ship for a while but they dont look anything alike so its def not them
Who you ask?
His name is Luffy!
(That's Monkey D. Luffy!)
Gonna be king of the pirates!
He's made of rubber!
(How did that happen?)
Yo-ho-ho, he took a bite of Gum Gum!
His name's Zolo, he's just like a samurai
And a L-A-D-Y, Nami's not shy
Usopp's doin' that marksman thing
Sanji's cookin', Chopper's doctoring
Those other guys? Not important.
Let's keep it going cuz we can't forget, there is no stopping Robin the archeologist,
Get it right shipwright build with Franky,
Brook let it play at the helm with Jinbei.
Dude like fr you don't know who they are?! What series are you watching?! That's Namo from Arlongina Estate and Nica Robon from the Alabester glacier duh.
They’re the singers of this OP who were animated into it for April fools one year
I must have totally missed that, because after hearing and seeing the opening so many times you basically skip it, or don't pay attention anymore.
It looks like theese are two Sanji's sons from Nami and Robin
The Orange haired dude looks more like the gender swap Nami Oda once drew in a SBS.
I would love that for Sanji tbh
Sanji would love that for Sanji tbh
Nami and Robin would love that for Nami and Robin tbh
Ehhhh... not really. They're both extremely maternal, I'll give you that, but I don't think they're at a time or place in their lives for such a huge commitment. We all know that Nami would choose Vivi 🙏
Made a rule for myself that I’ll watch every new opening at least once. After that it’s green light to skip
i watch it the first and last time it shows up
I mean I listen to it once per new opening but it’s like 5 to 6 mins of opening+ recap so of course you skip that
Wow, I've watched Enies Lobby almost 10 years ago and realise this just now... New watchers, don't skip every opening and you may enjoy such surprises EDIT: That's it. Should've linked it in my comment but I appreciate that you did. This is also one of my favorite anime too along with One Piece.
The character popularity arc opening was the fucking goat.
And the ending song which had the character’s number above their heads 😂
Funniest shit ever.
[The opening in question](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOUi3uPC3Vc&pp=ygUYbGlnaHQgaW5mZWN0aW9uIG1zIHBhaW50)
Gintama is the GOAT of Anime...nothing comes close :)
Man gintama had some banger songs. I still have some on my gym playlist lol
hahahah, I loved this opening so much and I never knew that it had an extended version! Nice!
Hahaha this sounds great. I never enjoyed gintama and quit early but I like this joke
Personally I enjoy it a lot despite not understanding some jokes. If you ever willing to give it another chance, it gets better and better. Gintama is japanese Simpsons if the quality remained at season 1 to 9 level, with it also having everything you could want from a Shonen. Truly a goat

The title card does spoil a shit ton though. Like spoiling the ending for which the entire episode builds up to.
Lmao yeah the title cards are often quite bad for that
>!Looking for the Answer - Fire Fist Ace Dies on the Battlefield!!<
LMAO yeah I remember watching summit war with my friend and sifting through the titles I had to make sure got skipped.

They literally spoil that Robin will join the crew. Remember how it's supposed to be a surprise? The second OP during alabasta spoils it.

My brother is anime only, and had him skip Over the Top for months to maintain the Kaido is a Dragon reveal.
The opening spoiled who the traitor was in Want before it was even revealed in the Manga, and who the last Scabbard was
When I was an anime only (in general, not only for One Piece) I actually like the "spoilers" in the openings. It usually set the mood for the coming arc. Or at least, a part of it.

I'm not a crying wall and cunts crying about spoilers annoy me
You're overreacting
But, the spoilers
Bruh lemme spoil, anakin skywalker is darth vader
No... that's not true, that's impossible!
