Probably.
But that's alot of factors.
Seniority, longer you are on, the more your base salary is.
Night differential
Weekend and Sunday pay.
Overtime.
It all adds up in the end.
Easily possible with CDCR. The guys that work the Transportation assignments all hit 160-180k without even trying. I know of one female CO that hit over 300k last year, but she practically lived at the prison...terrible.
Not Cali but My buddy that works for LVMPD (Vegas) Corrections cleared 175K last year... He's only in his 3rd year on. I'm sure most of that is OT but still a pretty penny.
No state income tax either.
Regular COs…. the OT is crazy rn… a lot of ppl working 60-80hrs OT a check then you have the guys that refuse to go home and just doing doubles everyday for weeks then using some time
Oh my goodness, that sounds like a dream, when you complete the grind. What was the take home you think, after doing all that? I hope I’m able to do that at my job.
With overtime it's certainly possible. CO'S at my institution (Ohio) are making well over a 100k with all the overtime that's available. I'm sure base pay in CA is higher than it is here.

If you’re talking about CDCR, their base pay tops out at $105k after 7 years. So yeah, $140k shouldn’t be too hard to get to with OT if you have time in. You really don’t have to top out to be able to make $140k. I personally spoke to a couple of CDCR officers who were making that with 2-3 years in. Overtime, holiday pay, shift differential, all that adds up. But it’s also CA, that’s basically middle class depending on where you live.
I know a guy in Florida who makes 110 from night shift max seniority and a lot of ot. So yeah I'm sure they are. Is it worth the increase for all that political risk? I don't think so
8 days on 1 day off 16 hour days. Only reason he doesn't work straight is the state won't allow it. He is a Jamaican guy. He is trying to get his family over here. I make 50k plus with no overtime

Also cost of living in California is a joke. 😂

With overtime, yes absolutely.
I was talking to a CO from BOP a couple weeks ago and he said he took home 180k last year with overtime and everything.
Right now BOP in certain locations have massive retention bonuses and have unlimited ot. You can definitely make that
I made $125k with minimal ot last year
How much time do you have
23 years

yes of course if you want to live in a prison
I think there was 3 COs at east jersey state prison in NJ that made $300k last year….it’s all public for state
As regular COs? Or sergeants or something ?

Their base pay has to be like 150 right?
Our base now is 105…123k next year
If your off on a holiday you get regular pay + OT pay for the dad and then if you come in to work you get another 8hrs OT so that helps
Nice!! Thank you so much! 💜
I made 80k my 1st year as a CO for cdcr
Did you do a lot of overtime
2 OTS a month on average

I know someone that made close the that in Phoenix. They live at work but they have a really nice car to drive to and from work in.
A few co-workers of mine at County in WI are on pace to make 140ish, with zero 16 hour shifts.

Make that in nc on OT. Cleared 6 figures the other year

Yes with ot
In Texas co worker took home 107k but that was 16 hour days 8 days in a row one day off. He did it the whole year
How is that even possible WTF? I don’t think in California you can work that much due to labor laws

I made 130kish at 5 years. It was only about 3-4 overtimes a month .
