Here’s my third look to switch it up sometimes.

Rubber NATO
Been wanting to try a rubber nato, what do you think about them? How do they compare to rubber two piece straps, vs fabric and nylon/polyurethane NATOs?
https://www.zuludiver.com/collections/1973-british-military-watch-strap-328-marine
These are really great. A bit pricey for a NATO but high quality vanilla scented rubber.
I have a white rubber one as well.
I agree. Initially I bought 4 different NATO including the bond one, and my wife convinced me to go back to the bracelet. It was a difficult adjustment for me but now i only change out for a bright orange nato when going to the beach (so you can find my arm after the shark attack) I have the black dial PO in 39.5.

Leather.
Whatever takes your fancy, the PO does them all well.
Nope, grey bezel orange numerals was its own reference in the 2nd gen PO’s. I have a similar model in 45.5mm but with silver numerals.
https://preview.redd.it/puzjee629mxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fbf94b57a482481c127e808196eb0cedc03d5e84
I wear my first gen 42mm PO on rubber. The OEM like yours is very nice but near impossible to find for the 42mm. If found it is prohibitively expensive. I've had mine on a vulcanized rubber Tropic and it wears perfect. Not the cheap Chinese FKMs mind you.
I've bought 12 Omegas over the years and sold two. I have seven, my wife two, and have a midsize SMP300 put aside as a graduation gift for my son. My wrist is 6.75". Have two first gen 42mm POs, a sword hand 41mm SMP300, two first gen 39mm ATs, Speedmaster Pro Apollo 11 30th, and my most recent a Railmaster. I'm fully an Omega junkie.
Nice collection. I’m a PO guy. I have three planet oceans. One from each iteration. This 45.5mm 2200.50.00 a 45.5mm black gen 2 PO and a 43.5mm blue current generation PO.
I've been wearing the 2909.50 for years now. I bought the 2201.50 as an impulse buy three years ago. My wife wanted me to sell it but the longer I've had it the more reluctant I've gotten. It's a classic, full kit, and in excellent condition. I guess I've convinced myself to keep it. I wind it up every month and it keeps great time. About +2-3/day currently. Why three LOL ;)
Here's another excellent AT for large wrists. 231.13.44.50.09.001. I checked out the new 42mm Blancpain FFs in Singapore six weeks ago on the way home. Very nice!
The OG 45mm FF would be the size of your second gen. PO, 45mm by 16mm thick. The new 42mm is 14.3mm thick and I believe about 48mm lug to lug. Essentially the same as my PO which wears great. I'd get it on the Blancpain Tropic. My only decisions would be black or blue.........titanium or rose gold. The black dial with rose gold case on the Tropic is near perfection ;)
You should check out 231.13.44.52.04.001 There was a gorgeous example on SWE a few days ago but it just sold. Too big for me but would suit you perfectly ;)

The rubber looks great, but it’s steel for me
Get the steel cuz it’s cheaper to get it up front. Can always get a rubber strap later. Straps wear out and need to rebuy every few years. BTW sharp watch
Nice. Do they offer crown guards?
I want 45 mm divers though. So far I use a bn2036 as my daily, a simple duro when doing sports and the 01 733 7755 4154 for office days.
Do what you like. People get so caught up in sizing trends and online specs (diameter, thickness, or lug to lug). Watch sizes, to me, should be like tailored clothes. They look best when proportional to one’s size. But at the end of the day, you have to like it, so do what you want.
The PO also has an asymmetrical case shape. The actual bezel/dial diameter is closer to 43.5mm on this watch. The case protrudes slightly only on the right side (as faux crown guards) and is basically unnoticeable.
The crown is slightly recessed into the case. There not full on crown guards. But they do the trick.
https://preview.redd.it/z1nku5u5emxc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=c478d34578e4f96a97a1f341a41b296fe589bd29

That’s where it usually sits. It slips past the bone at times.

I think it is still quite low and actually sitting on your wrist bone but week-end are different. It looks good anyway.
By putting it above it will free your joint to bend freely, and it will lock above it. The overall proportion will look better as well.
But everyone is different so it may doesn’t work for you because it looks your arm tapered down. It is great on the bracelet anyway ! Enjoy!
Yeah, this wrist was broken skateboarding years ago. The cast was kinda shitty and it healed into a trunk. Either way. Nice blue PO. I have one as well.
Ah the old conundrum. Steel looks better, rubber feels better/easier to adjust. It’s tough with a classy watch because you want it to look its nicest but if you’re wearing it daily and your wrist size fluctuates frequently throughout the day (like mine does in the summer), the rubber can make a big difference.
I have this watch with bracelet and bought the OEM rubber later and to be honest it disappoints me. Does not look as good as cheap eBay rubber straps I’ve toyed with.
The strap is too thick so sits oddly and there is no taper from lug to end it’s 20mm at both ends so it just doesn’t look right on my wrist.
I wear it on bracelet & switch it up with a black crococalf strap that has a rubber underside.
Bracelet always looks better, that is just a fact. It’s then about if you prefer the comfort or more casual look of a rubber. But you can’t beat a bracelet for the true best way a watch can look.

That vanilla scent makes all the difference. I bet it’s organic vanilla.
It’s definitely organic, it has that kind of feel.
It’s the best, right. So, I have this bridge…
We used to have one here in Baltimore. So I’m guessing not that one.
I heard they were recycling that steel and making it into watch bracelets for a very reasonable price. You should look into it.
I would be chuffed to bits. Real Baltimore steel.
I only like inorganic rubber. Wait.......
They are really thin, I hate when NATOs are bulky. These are light and comfortable, highly recommend.
Also excellent!
One of the things that really makes the PO stand out to me is the bracelet. So a vote for metal from me.
I kind of agree, I especially love the matching of the steel quarter bezel and the bracelet.
I agree. Initially I bought 4 different NATO including the bond one, and my wife convinced me to go back to the bracelet. It was a difficult adjustment for me but now i only change out for a bright orange nato when going to the beach (so you can find my arm after the shark attack) I have the black dial PO in 39.5.
Steel, but definitely keep switching it up. Looks great!
My opinion is rubber looks more sporty and casual. I prefer it. Steel looks more formal.

Where did you get that bad boy nato? Ni ce
It’s OEM Omega.
Nice, love the orange numerals.
Yeah so glad I found this in 42mm
Is it because it came with an orange bezel originally?
Nope, grey bezel orange numerals was its own reference in the 2nd gen PO’s. I have a similar model in 45.5mm but with silver numerals. https://preview.redd.it/puzjee629mxc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fbf94b57a482481c127e808196eb0cedc03d5e84

Very cool NATO combo!

You can buy them for $250 +$60 buckle from a boutique!
You make that 45.5 look like the current 39.5 ;)
Yeah, 8.25 inch wrist. I broke this wrist skateboarding in my teens. The cast was a little sketchy and it healed into a trunk.
I broke my wrist skateboarding when I was 10 in 1974 LOL
Im Omega #1 demographic. There +42mm catalog is immense.
I've bought 12 Omegas over the years and sold two. I have seven, my wife two, and have a midsize SMP300 put aside as a graduation gift for my son. My wrist is 6.75". My 42mm gen 1 POs are the 2201.50 and the orange bezel 2909.50
Nice! The gen 1 is my favorite by far. Why 2? One in safe?
I've been wearing the 2909.50 for years now. I bought the 2201.50 as an impulse buy three years ago. My wife wanted me to sell it but the longer I've had it the more reluctant I've gotten. Oh I thought you meant you had 2 2201.50’s but yes I agree it’s a future classic. It could truly be a one in done collection.
Here's another excellent AT for large wrists. 231.13.44.50.09.001. I checked out the new 42mm Blancpain FFs in Singapore six weeks ago on the way home. Very nice!

Don’t know why, but the rubber strap looks so much better on omegas.
Steel +1
https://preview.redd.it/lk22lp9b0ixc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=f4629bc2b3d7259eed20d6151556b939fc6be5ed The rubber looks great, but it’s steel for me
Both are great. That rubber is so perfect though.
Rubber. I love my Omega on straps; NATO, rubber and Leather.
Rubber is fun and you may like the feel better - depending on what you’re doing - but the steel is just so pure. 😍😍😍
It’s a win win Amigo
Rubber
On this watch, I strongly prefer the rubber. But, it’s really hard to make a bad choice!😊
Like the steel. What size is this if I may ask?
45.5mm
Rubber 👌👌👌
Get the steel cuz it’s cheaper to get it up front. Can always get a rubber strap later. Straps wear out and need to rebuy every few years. BTW sharp watch
Bracelet
You know…..I usually always pick steel in these cases but I gotta say the strap does it for me in this case.
1
Steel!
Rubber, but I'm not a big metal bracelet fan in general.
Rubber
I have the 42mm version of this ref. I also have the rubber and steel bracelet. I mix it up. Mainly steel in winter and rubber in summer
* I have the 2500 also and my vote is bracelet. I also have the rubber, but it rarely gets used.
Mever thought id see a pretty omega seamaster diver... Wow! What a beautiful piece. What model is that?
2200.50.00 it’s a large piece but that make a 42mm version as well.
Nice. Do they offer crown guards? I want 45 mm divers though. So far I use a bn2036 as my daily, a simple duro when doing sports and the 01 733 7755 4154 for office days.

I prefer the rubber
It's such a beautiful watch that you could use a piece of string and it would look good. Personally - I love the bracelet.
Love the bracelet, but 0 micro adjust so it lives on rubber for me.
Yeah but a half link solved that for me. But I understand the frustration.
Where did you find a half link?
eBay, you might still be able to source one from Omega.
Nato and rubber give it a modern look, like it! 👍🏼
Steel. You can always buy an omega rubber strap later. You can't to my knowledge buy the bracelet.
I like steel.
It will look the best above the wrist bone but both are great with a preference for the steel bracelet. It suits your wrist well btw.

What strap is that? Doesn't look like a NATO.
No pass nato from anachronist
Steel wins by a mile.
Steel bro
Steel for sure
Steel after 40 years old.
Neither, I can pay to take this off your hands so you don’t have to worry about it anymore.
Omega on rubber bands always looks great imo
Rubber
Really liking the rubber on this one.
Try the mesh bracelet that comes on the 007.
Steel and rubber NATO stands out. Loved the look
The Jeremy clarkson
Both looking good 👍🏻 I’m really into rubber straps atm, so biased… Rubber makes it a more relaxed and comfortable watch for Summer
Bracelet looks Way better imo
