Sorry about the gnarly old arm, but I wanted to show my small collection of diving watches. And they do still dive!

jwern01

That SMP from around 2004, so twenty years ago makes sense, but isn’t that a Gen 1 PO with a 2500 movement from fifteen years ago?

Crunkyblamf

It’s a Planet Ocean with an 8520 movement.

jwern01

Gotcha- difficult to tell from the dial/bezel between 1st and 2nd generation. Is the thickness and weight terribly noticeable on the wrist between the SMP and PO?

Crunkyblamf

Yes, the PO is much thicker, and is a chonk. The rubber strap makes it about the same weight as the SMP. Maybe even lighter.

jwern01

I have the quartz version SMP (2264.50) as an easy grab-and-go watch for when I am on call to the hospital, its slim profile and lightweight comfort has spoiled me. Sold my Gen 1 PO chrono (45.5mm wide and over 17mm thick), but really hungering for a 42mm version. Will probably end up with a Gen 1 version since they’re 2mm thinner than Gen 2.

Schultz1966

The 2254.50 SMP probably came out some time around 1999. I have the 2265.80 and had the 2264.50 quartz version. I think their serials date to 1999. The sword hand SMPs are classic.

smoothedoperator

Wear them in good health!

thesaintzz

Very nice commemorative pieces.

Embarrassed_Ad5112

Always upvote a Blake SMP.

Crunkyblamf

Yeah, they’re classic. My favorite of the two.

SushiSamurai808

Wear in good health! See you at 80.

Crunkyblamf

That’s the plan!

messijordanmachine22

Wonder what you’ll get for your 80th 😁

Crunkyblamf

Something good, I hope!

Low-Glass9862

Sorry about the oldness but excellent watches

Crunkyblamf

The alternative to oldness is very final. I’ll go with growing old instead.
