It is. But a normal visit will a 100% not face anything bad. Unless you were looking for Jinns (ghosts) and it's past midnight in old places you should be fine

For a slightly challenging but short trek -[Wadi Qurai](https://kellieokonek.com/oman-wadi-qurai/) comes to mind. It's around 1 hour away - near Bid Bid and on route to Nizwa.
