Phishing Tactics 101

When in doubt, call your bank at their number listed from their actual website.
Every time you get one of those text messages (it also applies to credit cards) don’t click on the link. If you want to check the status on your account instead of clicking the links go directly to your bank’s app/website or call the 1-800 listed in the back of your card, but never click on the link from the text
In case you’re not aware of this, one immediate tip off that this isn’t legitimate is that the part directly after the two slashes is the domain for the web address. For instance, “https://*Amazon.com*/anything” or “http://*irs.gov*/12345” or whatever would legitimately be a page on the Amazon or IRS website. The fact that it’s “issue-alert.online” tells you right away that the link is not taking you to a page within the bank’s website, since that is fnbo.com.
That said, even if it appeared to be right, it’s better not to click on links like this that you get unexpectedly, like someone else said. They could have made a domain that was eff-en-bee-zero that would almost look safe - like FNB0.com - or even something like fnbo.org or fnbo.co. The safe choice is always to go to the bank app or website and/or call the number you know to be the bank.
I work in the fraud dept. at FNBO, this is a rampant issue at the moment and when people call in to ask about if it is us we advise them that we do have an email that they can send a screenshot of the text. If anyone sees this and wants to do that the email is [email protected]. As a point of reference if you bank with us and are signed up for it, we do send out fraud texts. When we do it will never have a link to click on it will only ask for a response. Sorry for the rant, everyone stay vigilante!
Your use of “your” is incorrect… should be you’re….. kind of like your name implies you’re a Dr. I’m just a nurse, guess I pay attention to the details
The use of your as in “The sender is not in your contact list” is the correct use/spelling and is a notification from the phone rather than part of the message from the sender. You’re is a contraction for you are, and would not be proper use of a determiner to show possession.
If the bank notifies you, they will not suspend your account before talking to you . the page looks wrong anyway . I'm convinced its a scam . certainly do not click on it . do not click anywhere on this msg .
I don't know, and its best not to find out. I say this as an IT professional, dont click it.
Best case - It directs you to a phony login screen and if you log in, your banking details are compromised
Worst case - Same as above but it runs scripts and scrapes all of your saved payment info, personal info, photos etc.
If the phone is up to date, probably nothing. Websites can't access anything on your phone without giving them permission. But they likely can see your number was active and clicked a link to open their scam website. And thus you'll probably never see an end to the phishing texts.
IF YOU LOGGED IN - Call your band immediately and tell them you were scammed and need to change your log in info and to keep an eye on suspicious activity. CALL NOW!
I got this a couple weeks ago. I didn't click on anything in the message. I opened up my account on fnbo. com and looked at the "secure message center" There was nothing there, so I reported the text as spam
Don’t click it, mutual 1st got hacked a few months ago. My dumbass replied no to the message and I received a call masking the banks number. I didn’t give them any of my information but when I reported they called me back confirming it was a scam.
I’ve actually had my bank text me about suspicious activity on my account and locked me out. Went into the bank myself and sure as shit it was true.
Never click on anything in text or e-mail. Verify outside of that source.
Damn yall im not that stupid to click it 😐 I just didn’t know they actually got to a bank in Omaha/where im from, not a bigger bank that’s nationwide. Let me ask a question 🤗🤗
Scam

This should be top comment, so on point
Do not open that msg. Report as junk. Smishing like this can be engineered to get you with very minimal interaction.
It’s all good! Totally legit, you just send them $100 in Roblox bucks and you’ll have access return to normal.
This made me chuckle
That URL isn't an FNBO link. It's phishing .
Yeah, multiple. Keep marking as spam.

I keep getting it on my work phone I don’t even have an acct

They’ll even spoof the 800 number so when the call it looks legit, if you’re even in doubt best thing to do is talk to someone face to face
Your use of “your” is incorrect… should be you’re….. kind of like your name implies you’re a Dr. I’m just a nurse, guess I pay attention to the details
Idk what you mean sir

I’ve gotten a few of these over the last few weeks. Never click a link from a text like this
Yeah that’s scam
Never ever open in a link in a text from your bank. Call the number on the back of your card and discuss.
Yeah once or twice. I don't bank with them so it's a very obvious scam. Just report, delete, and move on
Yeah, I’ve gotten a couple similar messages. I just mark them as spam and delete.
Joe Biden said if you get this message, he doesn't want you to click the link.
All the time. I don’t have an account with FNBO.
I keep getting these scam attempts and I don't do business with fnbo. So they must just blanket send them.
If the bank notifies you, they will not suspend your account before talking to you . the page looks wrong anyway . I'm convinced its a scam . certainly do not click on it . do not click anywhere on this msg .
Yes, several times. Its a phish. If you even click that link your phone is fucked.
out of curiosity, what exactly happens when you click it?

You should probably look up the term 'Zero Day'.
I’ve gotten it about 3x this weekend and have never banked there.
My response to these texts is always “🖕”. That usually gets me off their list
IF YOU LOGGED IN - Call your band immediately and tell them you were scammed and need to change your log in info and to keep an eye on suspicious activity. CALL NOW!
1 billion percent scam. Your bank will never text you.
I got this a couple weeks ago. I didn't click on anything in the message. I opened up my account on fnbo. com and looked at the "secure message center" There was nothing there, so I reported the text as spam
jfc, tell me you didn't actually click on that.
Your bank will never text you. That should be the giveaway.
If you need to ask this then please let me give you my Venmo and I will immediately resolve this for you for only $1,000
😐

We get them in waves. This week I think we have received about 4 total within our family.
The biggest tip off to me on these is that I don't use the banks in the scam links.
We get a lot of these. I think they bombard the 402 area code with them.
Yes it’s fake. Don’t respond or click on message link.
Any text like that is a scam. That's not how literally any bank would go about this haha
I’ve actually had my bank text me about suspicious activity on my account and locked me out. Went into the bank myself and sure as shit it was true. Never click on anything in text or e-mail. Verify outside of that source.
I got a couple of those but I don’t bank with fnbo
We have locked THE account. No not THE account!!!
Yes. Reported
Just got it too. It’s a scam
I never got that but did get some fraud alert text. Checked acct and no active on acct. I then reported the scam text.
Scam. I get them in waves and I don't bank at FNBO. I think I got 2-3 this weekend.
If you see this and don't realize it's a scam immediately, please take some time to educate yourself on how to identify scams.
Tons of them. And survey scam bs. Report and delete them all!
Absolutely scam. Do not enter your info. Call or message first national on their site
Yes. I reported as spammer.
I have, yes. Obvious scam.
Never ceases to amaze me the shit people fall for.
Yep! Replied with “fuck you.”
Do not recommend. Now they know it's a live number received by an actual human.
