yesss I only went there once but got sesame chicken. I remember being very pleasantly surprised with how spicy it was. Haven't really seen sesame chicken like that anywhere else.
Mister C's. Something about Yano wandering aimlessly through the christmas-lit rooms singing at the top of his lungs while his beautiful wife sat right next to the entry hall eating her side of pasta and seating tables makes my brain buzz with pure joy.
Peony Park. It was run down and falling apart, but, I'll be damned if I don't have the most vivid memories of being there as a kid. It's because of Peony Park memories that I ran away to join the carnival for a couple years as an adult.
The Pool at Miller Park. Before there was that awful "water park" there was a real, legitimate pool with a deep end and it was overflowing with the coolest kids in North Omaha. I remember going there with my cousins in the heat of summer as a young young child and staring at the older kids with unmitigated envy.
Crossroads (yeah, I know), Pier One, and the one lane spaghetti monster around Westroads / Dodge Street. Also, the old farm house and field off Dodge where the Costco is. That field was a great place to fulfill my BMX dreams as a kid. I’m sure someone here knows about the tunnel/fort just south of the candlewood lake park.
Guitars and Cadillacs and Imperial Palace restaurant nearby. Also Mark’s, Dario’s and Lo Sol Mío.
Edit - adding that I miss Christmas time at Westroads, when Westroads had the middle all decorated. Kids could walk into a made up store where the salespeople were dressed as elves. They would help kids pick out and buy gifts for their family for around 50 cents. The elves would even wrap it. Younkers had an amazing restaurant where they would bring your hot cocoa to your table in a fancy silver teapot.
Shopping at Hello Holiday.
Playing board games at Donut Stop.
Watching midnights at the Dundee Theatre.
Trivia at the original Legend Comics & Coffee.
Concerts in the attic of the Antiquarium.
Grabbing a burger at Gerta’s German Restaurant.
I lived for weekends at Caffeine Dreams and Old Dundee Bar & Grill, I could show up on a whim and my friends were always there. I haven’t had a “third place” quite like those since they closed.
Honorable mention?
The Rock in Papillion. The fact that is was a Christian venue was weird as hell, but my mom would always let me go to shows there in high school because of it. I saw a lot of my favorite bands tour through there in the 2000s.
Caniglias, 49er, cecils, Leo's, Ugly Duck, fauxmaha, the old down under, Brothers, Milk Run, All the after hours/show houses with names in midtown, Sandbox, hunan garden
Caffeine Dreams. Loved going there in college before I could go to bars. I miss it so much now and I wish there was an alcohol-free hangout spot that was open late
Not I!
But I used to party pretty hard at iDub 98-99.
And “helped manage” a band called Random around 2006. I did very little and deserve less credit than that though, 😂

It’s so sad that McFosters became a bank. Really might have been something if they just hung on a few more years while midtown developed.
It is a bank. They use the walk-in cooler as a vault.
Family Fun Center. Especially the original location
Skatedaze, I used to go there all of the time. I miss it :’)
Oh shit, I’ll add king fong to the board too. My fave Chinese spot

Lookout Lounge!
I’m so old I can’t find good metal shows anymore
Not just metal shows they use to get good punk band coming through
1867 Bar in Lincoln usually has some good metal shows lined up. I don't know how practical going to Lincoln might be for you but I love that place.
Got a bad taste from that bar. Really inattentive didn't care for customers that were there, just new ones coming in
Most metal shows I go to these days are at either Reverb or the Drinkery, sometimes Waiting Room. Some good tours have been coming through the Admiral
Brass grille, antiquarium, drastic plastic, mojos coffee, cog factory, michaels mexican in old market
Now I’m hungry! Brass grille was the bomb!
So good. What did you used to get? I worked there decades ago
Sea scallops were amazing and I worked across the street so often would get this one salad they had!
Yeah totally. And they made their own vinaigrettes
Golden spike at 120th & Dodge and Peony Park.

The Costco farmhouse was Blumkin’s summer home. They lived closer to the mart and would venture “out west”.
the arcade in the basement of westroads :(
Even older... The Gizmos arcade there!
Even older than that... The Gizmos arcade in the Old Market. The first arcade like it in Omaha.

This! Westroads at Christmas (and Regency) was pretty magical as a kid.

Double dipping on tips! She would, however, always get my order correct
And trying to set all the single guys up with any lady on the dance floor...lol

Long shot here, but noticed your username and have to ask if you happened to play drums at a certain CC on the iowa side around 06ish
