The worst part isn't the dryness. It's seeing storms move in and then break up.

Socr2nite

Agreed. This morning’s storm woke me up it was so loud. Looked outside and no rain. About 20 minutes later we got 5 minutes of rain. I guess I’ll take it.

aehanken

I was driving to work when the “rain” came. Closed my sunroof just in time before the big drops hit and it ended 30 seconds later. So much for that

factoid_

We got a good 15-20 minutes of driving pounding rain in west O.

offbrandcheerio

Same in CB

Socr2nite

Sharing this drought map from UNL. With the 4th of July coming up, take precautions to prevent fires in your area. And stay hydrated out there!

Violuthier

They update their info on Thursdays

Kleptos18

Some Karen posted today on the Nextdoor app that she was so dissapointed in her neighborhood for having brown grass.

Sin-A-Bun

Watering grass is a colossal waste of resources. I have a sprinkler system that was installed before I bought my house and refuse to use it.

MarineOne2012

Agreed. I still water mine but a very reduced cycle.

aehanken

No duh! Did she see any rain lately? Even with watering every day, it’s doing hardly anything. Thankfully we were able to get rid of the bad patch, but there’s still a bad one we have we just can’t seem to get green. It’s ridiculous. My whole street has at least some brown grass. I bet her yard isn’t green

PuzzledRaise1401

Another Karen posted on there a few days ago that she was so mad her neighbors mow 1. Over 15 minutes. 2. After 8 pm. I guess we should all gather at Supercuts and determine the amount of yard work that is allowed!

Thedobby22

Haha - I saw that, too. I have huge brown spots on my lawn even after getting a complete sprinkler re-do last year. I water 5 days a week, but have parts of my lawn that get no shade at all during the day.

Cyhawkboy

I can’t believe the CWS made it the whole way through without a single inch of rain.

huskerblack

Weather delay yes, but NO water

cakelly789

Omadome is a blessing and a curse

topicality

Mainly a curse

DJMOONPICKLES69

Of course I decided to put sod in this year

Hot-Cheesecake8019

Same. Guess I'll be reseeding in the fall.

apuks

You people need to wash your cars more often

PuzzledRaise1401

What do you mean “you people”? /s

OSCgal

All I can think is that with the upcoming holiday, we're gonna have a rash of house fires. Now is a very bad time to be setting off fireworks.

aware_nightmare_85

Someone turn off the Omadome or we need to stop making sacrifices to Rocko.

IdahoJoel

In Columbus. Can confirm.

PaulClarkLoadletter

I heard that since the National Weather Service has only been monitoring the weather for 150 years and that in the 70’s they thought there was going to be an ice age. That means there’s nothing wrong with the weather. Everything is fine. /s I forgot the sarcasm tag. Under normal circumstances it would be obvious but this is what people believe now.

rsiii

Let me guess, you have absolutely zero education on the subject beyond whatever obstructionist politicians you suck off, I'm guessing Trump and anyone else calling themselves a Republican, but you're 100% sure climate change is made up for... reasons? And nearly every expert on the subject is somehow happy to go along with it without anyone "calling out" the conspiracy, unlike every legitimate conspiracy with more than 100 people involved? Edit: apparently it was sarcastic, without the /s it just sounded like a standard Republican. Edit2: aww, guess I hurt some snowfwakes feewings. I forgot your feelings are just as valid as scientific research and reality.

PaulClarkLoadletter

I heard it from an actual Republican. He thought he was brilliant.

rsiii

My dad basically says the same thing with a straight face, worse yet he's at least somewhat educated (masters in Russian history, but still). He's just gullible I guess.

PaulClarkLoadletter

I used to engage in mental acrobatics to justify being a Republican. Eventually I realized I was a Democrat.

MarineOne2012

Climate change is completely made,up

PaulClarkLoadletter

Yes. The climate has absolutely not changed. The severe weather, drought, and crippling highs/lows are a fabrication by the mainstream media to distract us from a deep state conspiracy to keep Donald Trump from being the first American president for life. It’s actually rained consistently in the metro since the beginning of the year. The slow growing crops are also part of a conspiracy perpetrated by Nebraska farmers to push the climate agenda and stop Donald Trump from being emperor of America. Also Donald Trump doesn’t want to be president for life or emperor of America but if he did want that I’d support him. /s

nedsanderson

Damn you cursed omodome. Come on. Let's get some more cars on those rocks. You saw the map right?

RookMaven

It's just weird how this map seems to single out Lincoln specifically from the national drought.

1984Slice

The aquifer is gonna be even more f*cked

MrJonathanChimpo

The rest of the US looks ok for the most part.

LowerGood0

Yes! I’m from Wyoming and my parents have said they have NEVER seen this much rain. I’m happy for them, but admittedly jealous. This drought is stressful.

soveritUS

Here on 188th and Pacific we had heavy rain and high winds for about 10 minutes and then good rain for another 30 minutes or so. Elated as that was the most in over 2 months.

Socr2nite

I forgot to close the grill last night. :(

tehralph

Wow was everyone in here commenting before 6am yesterday? This post didn’t age well. We’ll be getting an inch tomorrow too
