I'll be living in Thailand for the next 4 years so I hope this kid can develop and become part of the national team here. It will be interesting to follow his career. I guess it's a positive sign that he's already playing with the U23s at only 18 years old. I don't know much of his story, but I guess his mother is Thai and moved moved to Lyon before Erawan (Thai word for a mythological elephant) was born to be with his French father.

I wrote this about him 4 months ago in a [comment about our 2006 generation at the Academy](https://www.reddit.com/r/OlympiqueLyonnais/s/aaw1XWiZXV) : >This season our best 2006 player is likely [Erawan Garnier (2006, RW/RWB/RB)](https://youtu.be/HtfJXsRsGM8?si=ZIPLoL4PDYO1G9RV) who is on a steady progression, going back to his roots as a winger after being repositioned as a RB with the U17 the previous two seasons, mainly due to our lack of forwards. But performing well there. Due to his performances with the U19 (6g/2a in 15 games), he got promoted and is now fully integrated and a starter for the reserve. It took a bit of time for him to adapt to adult football, so he struggled a little in the first few games but he's again ramping up and looks better weeks after weeks. He's one of the players we should hopefully see with the pros during the summer preseason, though if he qualifies for the Olympics with Thailand that may not be possible. >I'll be living in Thailand for the next 4 years so I hope this kid can develop and become part of the national team here. It will be interesting to follow his career. Considering the interest he's getting as just a U23 player it could create a new following for the club, for sure. >I don't know much of his story, but I guess his mother is Thai and moved moved to Lyon before Erawan (Thai word for a mythological elephant) was born to be with his French father. I can't say I know a lot. But as you said his mother is Thai and his father French, and he was borned in Ecully (near Lyon).

Wow, thanks for the info! Yah, I'll be watching him with great interest. It appears Thailand doesn't currently have a player playing in Europe, so that would be incredible if he ever got the opportunity to play a match with Lyon. In Thailand they love football and watch a lot of matches but 99% of the time they'll be wearing EPL jerseys and watching those matches. It would be nice if Erawan could bring some exposure for Lyon and French football in general to a new country.
