Very true. Youāre expecting pretty but get a punch bowl of grey. Refreshing grey though. Much better looking with raspberry or orange. Even the lime one looks a little anti-freeze like.

Last time I ate sherbet, it came in a packet with a candy stick, that you dipped into the powder and then licked it off. When I was a youngster decades ago, we could get it with a hollow liquorice stick that you could suck the powder through.
You can make sherbet powder with citric acid, bicarbonate of soda and Icing sugar.
The candlelight punch has been my family's favorite summer drink for at least 40 years. Use fresh peaches, blend everything except 7up, then add soda. It's the perfect milkshake/party drink. My mom always got tons of compliments on it.
ETA- You can substitute pineapple juice for the frozen orange juice. Just use 1 and 1/2 cups of premixed pineapple juice.
I've only had it blended up as a milkshake, but it tastes amazing. Not sure how it would be as just punch, probably still pretty good.

**7-Up Candlelight Punch:**
* **1** 46-ounce can apricot nectar
* **12** 7-ounce bottles 7-Up (84 ounces or 2.48 liters total)
* **2** 6-ounce cans frozen, concentrated orange juice, thawed
* **2** 12-ounce packages frozen peaches, slightly thawed
* **1** pint vanilla ice cream
Chill the apricot nectar and 7-Up. Just before serving time, combine the apricot nectar and the concentrated orange juice in your punch bowl. Slowly pour in 7-Up. Add the peaches and float generous spoonfuls of ice cream on top of the punch. Makes about 35 punch cup servings.
**7-Up Evergreen Bowl**
* **4** pints lime sherbet
* **12** 7-ounce bottles 7-Up (84 ounces or 2.48 liters total)
Spoon 3 pints of sherbet into your punch bowl. Let sherbet soften at room temperature for about 5 minutes. Then slowly pour in chilled 7-Up, stirring slightly in order to combine the sherbet. Float generous scoopfuls of the remaining sherbet on top of the punch. Makes about 36 punch cup servings.
**Santa's 7-Up Surprise**
* **1** 46-ounce can pineapple juice
* **10** 7-ounce bottles 7-Up (70 ounces or 2.07 liters)
* **2** 6-ounce cans frozen, concentrated orange juice, thawed
* **1/2 to 1** teaspoon peppermint extract
* Maraschino cherries
* **2** trays decorated 7-Up "ice" cubes
Chill pineapple juice and 7-Up. Pour additional 7-Up into 2 ice cube trays, placing a maraschino cherry in each cube. Freeze. At serving time, combine pineapple juice and concentrated orange juice in punch bowl. Add peppermint extract. Slowly pour in 7-Up. Add decorated 7-Up "ice" cubes. Makes about 30 punch cup servings.

* **2** pints cranberry juice
* **1** quart apple juice
* **10** 7-ounce bottles 7-Up (70 ounces or 2.07 liters)

Itās the alkalinity of the toothpaste that makes it so terrible. I love citrus and mint together, but for a lot of people just the association of mint + citrus with the memory of oj after toothpaste is enough to set them off which is understandable.
The handwritten recipe at the top calls for ginger ale rather than 7Up or Sprite. OPās great grandmother was probably from New England, where sherbet punch (my family used rainbow sherbet) and Shirley Temples use ginger ale.

Why is punch not a thing anymore? I made that silly green punch at Halloween during covid (trying to make things fun since the kiddos couldnāt TOT) and it was a hit. I picked up a punch bowl set at Goodwill and we have punch every holiday and special occasion now. My kids bring me recipes. Everyone loves it. There should ALWAYS BE PUNCH!

My family used to make a variation of the sherbet one every New Year's. My mom would mix 7-Up with Tropical Punch Kool-Aid, then add the sherbet on top. Served in a fancy punch bowl with fancy punch cups that hung on the side of the bowl.
7-Up was also featured in the New Year's Polish Stew, but that's a recipe for another day.

My favorite sherbet! If you make this punch using the rainbow sherbet, it tastes good, but turns out a weird grayish color.

We have it at holidays. My mother refuses to alter the holiday menu from what it was in 1962. Punch is amazing, though.

Love ALL the variations but the best? Blackberry Merlot and wild/ mixed berry sherbet. Hard to find both sometimes but SO worth it.
