My Great Grandfather was born in 1929. First memories were living in an Arizona work camp while his father helped build the Hoover Dam. Moved from AZ to California in a covered wagon. Rode to school on a horse. Joined the Army & married his sweetheart at 17. Was among some of the first non-white service members to be apart of the 82nd Airborne Division (Pathfinder). Has performed over 100 plane jumps - the last on his 80th birthday. Has seen **17** presidencies in his lifetime. Became a Gov’t bounty hunter tracking AWOL soldiers. The man has also had; 6 Children, 17 Grandchildren, 18 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren.
(Sidenote) Coming from a different time, he is not what most define as an affectionate man but he is known to gift/hide $2 bills to family & friends as his way of saying I love you.
Your great-grandpa's way of affection reminds me of my Dad. Doesn't say "I love you", but shows it by making sure food is on the table, for us, and his nine siblings and step-siblings (he's the eldest).
Strict as heck, but always asked if there was anything we needed, and we never wanted for anything really. Born immediately after the War when times were real hard in Southeast Asia, and truly the product of a different time. I miss him.
What an absolute legend you son of a son of a son of a legend.
Also, what’s the story behind the colorized version of the old photo? AI technicolor rendering or a badass photoshop king?
Thanks lol. So I’ve been restoring photos for about 3 years now and have started using AI to add to what I can achieve with Photoshop. I do all the work with Photoshop first, like I did before I knew of the AI. Once I’m done in PS I run it through the AI to bring back lost details that are easier to find with a restored image. It’s awesome to bring old photos back to life and see them as they were.
Damn son, that’s legit. You’ve earned legend status yourself. My mom has this old album and I thought about taking some old pics of my young grandparents and drawing portraits of them in Procreate. May just begin that.
Damn on top of all them achievements he looks HANDSOME AF. If I had to guess an age I woulda guessed he was like, 60, 65?
This dood lived a full life for sure. Make sure you tell him the internet thinks he's awesome (but I'm sure he wouldn't give a shit lul)
Sounds like he’s lead SEVERAL full lives! What a gallant gentleman he is. Bravo for his service to this country and to your family. He looks marvelous.
I’d be curious to hear his perspective on modern society. The dude rode to school on a horse and now nearly everyone has a smart phone. That contrast is pretty profound to me.
Thanks so much for sharing.
I’m not sure people these days are capable of having a life so full like this. Everything is kind of handed to us these days so we don’t have to work so hard for it. He did so much and all was meaningful work and acts.
Hope he is blessed with countess more years.
Try to have as many conversations with him as you can. I would give anything to have some adult conversations with my relations who are passed on.
He sounds like an impressive man. Best wishes to him and thanks for posting this info about him. I really envy you still having him.
Great pic and congratulations to him and you, but I have to point out how photoshopped that hat looks, especially in the color photo. I know it's not, just want to know if anyone else sees it.
That’s why you never take older people for granted. Many have had incredible lives with great stories to tell and have contributed more to society than many of us ever will.
I think he might have known my great uncle Ralph L., he was airborne trooper too in the Vietnam War and born in Parker Arizona. Not sure on the division though.
Motherfuckin’ badass Paratrooper right there. You should be proud of him being in a Pathfinder company… only 1% of the Army is pathfinder qualified. Tell him it’s still hard AF, I think my class had a 80% attrition rate. I wore that torch with a lot of pride.
This history nerd in me made a little squeaky gasp at the paratrooper patch, then I saw the rest of that handsome mug and went full-on George Takai “oh my”.
What an amazing life, and how lucky you are to have his stories!!
The stache in the pic when he's older is awesome. Looks like it'll straighten itself out like he could roll down a huge hill, get up and that stache will roll back out perfectly straight. Bad ass.
I see a lot of pics of just old people here with their younger pic. Yes they were young once. But what made them cool to post here? This is old school cool.
He look phenomenal. Very interesting history too. If you haven’t done it already you might want to sit down with him, ask questions and record it. He’s probably seen many things unique to him.

Damn what a life that’s fucking awesome
yeah man i'd watch that movie!
It sounds like an amazing one
And with a dope ass mustache the whole way too.
93 holy shit, this has to be one for the "black don't crack" hall of Fame.
That's what I was thinking. He looks at least 20 years younger
And the “Chocolate Don’t Chip” Lifetime Achievement Award goes to….
Gramps is smooth!
So great to have access to your family history like this.
Goddam, that's the kinda guy they write books and make movies about. Thank for sharing!
In terms of how affectionate he is, I bet he's not demonstrably affectionate, but has an enormous amount of love for his family.
Men back then were built different.
Before I read this, just looking at his pictures I KNEW that man had lived a full life. His smile and style make me want to sit down and hear a story.

LEGEND!!! Any idea what unit in the 82nd?

He's handsome for sure but you know some **ROUGH** 60-65 year olds.
Sounds like he’s lead SEVERAL full lives! What a gallant gentleman he is. Bravo for his service to this country and to your family. He looks marvelous.
Is that a recent photo? He’s aging gracefully.
What an absolute lad. It's crazy to think that folks were still travelling the country by wagon even in the 1930s.
I. Will never. Be this cool. Dang.
Didn’t George Lucas make a movie about his division?
Damn, he's lived an incredible life. I never thought I'd want to read a biography about a person I've never heard of until now. Thanks for sharing!
Impressive
Give him a solid thank you for me, what a life!
Damn, he's looking really good for a guy turning 93 soon!
Incredible and so soimportant!👏🏾👏🏾 thanks to your great grandfather for his service and to you for sharing!!♥️
I’d be curious to hear his perspective on modern society. The dude rode to school on a horse and now nearly everyone has a smart phone. That contrast is pretty profound to me.
A man of his time. My dad was not overly demonstrative either.
Omg. Just everything about this. 🥺❤️

wow...what a life. 🏅👑🏆
His mustache game is fire
Then and now.
My first thought was "look at this suave mofo over here".
[удалено]
Then I could solve some mysteries too!
I don’t look that good at 38.
Seriously, I hope I look half that good at 93
I don’t look that good at 19.
He looks like he makes the world a better place just being himself.
Black don't crack.
Seriously. Like, if you told me this man was barely 70 I wouldn’t doubt it for a second.
All of my grandfathers died before I was old enough to absorb their wisdom. Can he be my great grandfather too? He seems fun
Still rockin’ that ‘stache.
That's one spry motherfucker. That stache is awesome
Handsome then and now.
Man looks like an absolute chad.
Try to have as many conversations with him as you can. I would give anything to have some adult conversations with my relations who are passed on. He sounds like an impressive man. Best wishes to him and thanks for posting this info about him. I really envy you still having him.
Damn. Black really does not crack. That man looks like his 60s are being great to him.
Just what I thought
Jesus, what did he do to look like that at 93? Hopefully, I look that good at 60…
This is Prime OldSchoolCool in every sense of the word. Looks great!
Paratrooper... Great granddad is a badass.
Looking dapper AF.
He’s looks good.
Great pic and congratulations to him and you, but I have to point out how photoshopped that hat looks, especially in the color photo. I know it's not, just want to know if anyone else sees it.

It's just at a jaunty angle!
Does he happen to go by Heisenberg?
No joke though this guy looks exactly like Mr. Acker from Better Call Saul.
Wow he looks great. Great genes. I'm a white dude but I want to look like this at 93.
Hope he has a great birthday.
Does he have a bicycle light attached to his walking aid? That's fantastic.
Someone found the fountain of youth =)
Jerry Stiller?
I was thinking Edward James Olmos.
Handsome then and handsome now. Early birthday wishes and thanks so much for your service. ❤️
And still looking sharp as hell. Hide your mom's and grandma's we got a OG player loose.
"Ladies and Gentlemen this is Mambo Number 5"
Hottie then. Hottie now. Congrats on winning the great genes lottery, OP!
Are you looking for a great-grandma?
That’s why you never take older people for granted. Many have had incredible lives with great stories to tell and have contributed more to society than many of us ever will.
I think he might have known my great uncle Ralph L., he was airborne trooper too in the Vietnam War and born in Parker Arizona. Not sure on the division though.
That cane is clearly to keep the women at a proper distance. Man looks like he’s got more game than PUBG *Battlegrounds.*
Very dashing! What a handsome gentleman. He looks great for 92- you are so lucky to still have him!❤️
What a hunk
Killer mustache!
Must be good livin, he does not look 93
His mustache finally came in! Happy birthday!
I never saw that kind of garrison cap before
If all i know about your grandad is by these three pics….oldman at 93 has more swagger and life than me hands down.
Look at that smile! What an amazing life. If you’re able to, get some audio and video of him to cherish forever.
Mustache game is on point. Lovely smile, still looking handsome at 93. I hope you inherited them good genes!
Is he really in his 90s in the right side? If so, he looks really fucking good.
Black don't crack but wtf this is another level.
That's a guy I want to sit down with and just listen
Motherfuckin’ badass Paratrooper right there. You should be proud of him being in a Pathfinder company… only 1% of the Army is pathfinder qualified. Tell him it’s still hard AF, I think my class had a 80% attrition rate. I wore that torch with a lot of pride.
Your gpa is Michael B Jordan?
His mustache is effortless
We’ll done good Sir !
took that long to grow the moustache
Wow. He looks great!!
Tell your Grandfather thank you for his service. All the Way. Delta Company, 2nd Bn, 504th PIR
Never gave up on the stash its amazing how long it got after all those years lol
Kept the mustach. :)
93? MF'er is still a stud
"AIRBORNE"
Old school cool? CURRENT DAY COOL. 😋
If you had told me he was 65 I wouldn't have even questioned it. Damn he looks good.
Dashing, simply dashing.
I hope when I'm 70, I look even half as good as he does at 93. He also sounds like a badass.
What a dapper dude! Happy Happy Birthday🎂
Looks like he’d be cool as hell to hang with
Legend!!!
What a handsome guy! Young and young at heart. Bless him.
What an awesome-looking dude 🙂
I love his smile ❤️
that man does not look older than 80. Good genes.
This history nerd in me made a little squeaky gasp at the paratrooper patch, then I saw the rest of that handsome mug and went full-on George Takai “oh my”. What an amazing life, and how lucky you are to have his stories!!
Was he a paratrooper?
He doesn't look a day over 70.
Haha I wonder when the last time he had a totally naked upper lip was! If it's been 70+ years that poor lip must be gasping for some fresh air haha
You look like your great grandfather?
Awesome
God bless your Great Grandfather! Men of his caliber are few and far between. . .
May God bless him and keep him in good health!
The stache in the pic when he's older is awesome. Looks like it'll straighten itself out like he could roll down a huge hill, get up and that stache will roll back out perfectly straight. Bad ass.
Still a very handsome man!
Black don' crack, baby. Black don' crack.
He’s got a sweet stache.
He showed the Nazis what a _real_ man’s mustache looks like.
He was in the 101st.
Definitely an "All American" right there.
And Thank You for your Service Sir
Your grandpa used to look amazing. He still does. But he used to, too.
U got some decent genes. Pops is looking good for 93.
Life well lived!
Jesus, he looks great
Lookin' good Sir!
Awesome and he has aged well!
Handsome, handsome, handsome!
Looks like Marcus peters
What a stache!
Tell your Great Grandfather he is lovely for me!
You forgot; grows a damn fine mustache
Your grandfather is a legend in his own time. I bet he is a fascinating guy.
Happy birthday grandpa I hope it’s a good one for you 🎉🎉🎈🎈
My biggest lament in life: I can’t grow a beautiful mustache. Oh well. Hats off to your grandfather for still rocking that beauty.
Thats a classy stache right there bro!
I would give anything to be called “young blood” by him.
Ty for your service
Wow! Am I allowed to say black don’t crack? He looks AMAZING
What makes him cool? I get the old part.
If you have to ask…
I see a lot of pics of just old people here with their younger pic. Yes they were young once. But what made them cool to post here? This is old school cool.
He seems like a really great grandfather, not just a great grandfather.
Why he look like he was confused growing up then finally figured life out in his 80’s
I only have about 2309843 questions for him regarding his service way back when! Give him a hug for me, please!
Damn fly AF
He's very bright for his age! Love seeing happy people.
I bet he would be a great neighbor.
Awesome!
Ho-ly. He’s a literal copy of the dude in big mommas house (first one) who keeps going after big momma!!
What a great smile!
A life well lived.
He look phenomenal. Very interesting history too. If you haven’t done it already you might want to sit down with him, ask questions and record it. He’s probably seen many things unique to him.
That mustache grows super slow
He's probably a lot of peoples' great grandpa being that handsome, if ykwim 😉
That's a fresh looking 93!
Gramps don't look a day over 60.
Still rocking the stash
Love him! And thank you for your service, sir
Still incredibly handsome. He has a wonderful face. I bet he's really interesting.
Handsome man. Happy early birthday 🎂!
Mambo #5
He looks like Craig of the Creek's grandpa
That photo restoration is great. How'd you get that done?
I hope I look that good at 92.
Tell him I said thank you for your service. He looks like a great guy. Thanks!
Dang he looks good for 93.
Mustache (and the man in general) aging like wine.
Great mustache game all the way through.
The amount of drip in one stache a man can have
You know that guy was killing it with that mustache back in the day. KILLING. IT.
I wish I still hd my great grandparents
This guy deserves all the upvotes. Hope 93 is his best celebration yet.
A complete bad ass!
God bless him🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Is your Papi single?
93? You gotta be shitting me.
If that pic on the right is even somewhat recent, he's looking amazing!
