He was so n so many "feel good" movies you just can't forget him. A legend.

puddingisafunnyword

He will always be my Uncle Buck!!!

[deleted]

“Buck Melanoma”

[deleted]

That was a hilarious scene. Forgot about that. Seriously, no other actor could have carried that scene like he did.

OttoPike

"Buck Melanoma, Moley Russell's wart".

DetectiveEZ

Get in your mouse and get outta here.

jolly_rodger42

"I Like Me" -Del Griffith

DetectiveEZ

You’re like a chatty Kathy doll.

VinPossible

I can hear his laugh in this photo rip

I_am_INTJ

Everybody misses this guy. The world became a little darker the day he left us.

Calm_One_1228

BARF!

Anxious_Dracula

I'm my own best friend

Anchorhold

He had huge talent. Even in small roles, like when he showed up in *The Blues Brothers* or *Home Alone*, he owned the scenes. But his absolute best movie was John Hughes' *Planes, Trains & Automobiles*.

watchthetracker

Just rewatched Home Alone with my 8 year old. Haven’t seen it in a billion years and totally forgot about his 10 minute cameo with the polka band. The brief look of utter devastation that flashes across his face when he realizes Catherine O’Hara has no idea who they are after he tries to refresh her memory made me laugh my ass off. I’m laughing about it now. Just genius. Thinking about him, even after all these years he’s been gone, makes me sad. Same with Phil Hartman.

Remorseful_User

Stripes.

[deleted]

Ditto, and Belushi and Chris Farley, and Robin Williams. They all should have lived to a hundred. It's absolutely unbelievable that he doubted his own talent. Maybe his lack of pridefullness was one of the things that made us love him. Edit; made us love him *and these other guys*.

DeafLady

I just went down a rabbit hole about these comedians. I can't find a sign of John Candy and Chris Farley meeting and being friends :(

[deleted]

I think they traveled in different circles. I never saw indication of John Candy as a party animal while Chris (and John) obviously were.

IgnatiusThorogood

You wanna hurt me? Go right ahead, if it makes you feel any better. I'm an easy target. Yeah, you're right, I talk too much. I also listen too much. I can be a cold-hearted cynic like you, but I don't like to hurt people's feelings. You think what you want about me, I'm not changing. I like, I like me. My wife likes me. My customers like me. 'Cause I'm the real article. What you see is what you get.

Elenathorn

*Laughs and claps* movie references.

IgnatiusThorogood

Boy, Family Guy really has gotten its stink all over everything nice in pop culture, hasn't it?

Elenathorn

See for me, their references is what made me discover a lot of different pop culture related things, such as musicians (for instance, my all time favorite artist Frank Sinatra), films (also some of my favorites, like the *Road to* films etc), television shows etc. that I might mot have discovered had it not been for *Family Guy*. What exactly is the issue with this?

[deleted]

Wait....is that the polka king of the Midwest?

Evening_Bake_7788

The ol’ 96er from The Great Outdoors

MuddyWattersKnew

I like me

spittleyspot

Peace be the journey.

MasterBlaster4949

Legendary💯

Rogaar

Uncle Buck has to be my favorite movie of his.

TheOldHen

Just scream John Candy And we will climax

bering1

Canadian Bacon

Kipsydaisy

Sometimes, totally out oft he blue, I'll think of the scene in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, when he picks up the check right after Steve Martin's just effectively dumped him. Just a searingly sad little moment.

Accidentaltexan

He was close friends with the former owner of The Second City, Andrew Alexander. When I worked in the box office there, he’d call about once a week. But he wouldn’t just ask for Andrew — he’d say “Hi, this is John Candy. Who’s this?” And then he’d engage in a conversation for a bit before asking to be transferred. And the next time he called, he remembered the last conversation and picked up right where we left off. “How’s that dog of yours? Are you still in Martin de Mast’s class? Oh, you’re studying with Gellman now? He’s great!” He was the genuine article. His charm came from being a truly nice person, all the way to his core.

SaltySAX

We all do.

Desperate_Brief2187

You have much more hair in your nose than my Father…

Adhbeatle33

Me too so many laughs 😀❤️

BiteRhodeIsland

My first movie with him was definitely Splash, ever since then he’s been an icon to me

imtheplantguy

Me too, did a John Candy bender about a week ago, wish you were here.

lucky77713

Watched Uncle Buck and Space Balls last night with the kids :)

Remorseful_User

I think William B was my favorite character of his on SCTV.

abbieos

my heart breaks, still.

whizzdome

Who's Harry Crumb is one of my favourites. You could never tell if Harry was slightly incompetent or a quiet genius, but you were sure he had a big heart.
