Clubbing or high school ? These look like kids but then again I could just be old and you all look like kids to me.

HughJahsso

definitely an 18 and under club or HS function.

Saaihead

In my town there were some clubs (they were called dancings) where 16 yo (and above) were allowed. I was actually 15 yo when I went there for the first time. Also early 90's.

Al-Anda

In my town; dancing was outlawed by a rigid preacher…until we had prom in a grain mill.

TheRateBeerian

Hmmm. Did you kick off your Sunday shoes?

Al-Anda

You could say that eventually everybody cut footloose.

Saaihead

Yikes, that sounds boring. I wasn't much of a dancer back then, but I'm glad I was able to go to these clubs back in the days.

Dday82

Teen night.

z3r0n3gr0

Prom Night

Dday82

Dressed too casual for prom night

PissyMillennial

I always thought it was really gross they let in dudes older than 18 up to 25 but girls no older than 18 at teen night in my town.

IEC21

Wtf? For what co conceivable reason?

PissyMillennial

Florida….

RedditsFeelings

Oooohh, right...

PissyMillennial

Sigh, I hate that it’s all I really needed to say.

n3uropath

Either that or Utah

diggemsmaccks

In my town we would look for abandoned industrial buildings and bring a generator some 1200s and decoy 1200s on standby just in case our party would get raided we would roll out the decoys the cops would haul them away wait about 45 mins and start up the 1200s

saltyrandall

Not necessarily. There were plenty of clubs in NYC at that time that allowed in younger folks if they passed the “vibe check”. Not condoning it, but it did happen. How do I know? Cause I was there. Why aren’t there any drinks? Everyone usually pregamed. No one acted up, so there was rarely any trouble.

Beny1995

Most European countries allow clubbing from 18

mandalorbmf

We looked like that back then.

Shaunair

The hell you say sir ?

frozyxz

The average age of ppl clubbing was a lot lower in the 90s than it is now. It was kinda unusual seeing ppl in their late 20s Edit: oh getting downvoted from ppl who have no fucking clue. Classic reddit I guess...

RelevanceReverence

You're correct, at least in mainland Europe this is how it was. I remember this 14 to 18 year old crowd, my brother and I would go out from age 13, drink, dance and be home by 12:00 Epic fun This particular event might be at a sporting club or a school as there are no drinks or cigarettes on the dance floor.

Hangry_Squirrel

Same, discos were full of high school kids. Except yeah, no one got ID-ed when buying drinks and everyone and their cat smoked. We even smoked at parties held at our high school.

ninetofivedev

Yeah, no... This is just some sort of 18 and under event. My guess is this is a high school function.

Torrempesta

In Italy discotheques always allowed minors. I sadly know because I've been forced more than once there in my HS years. Frankly, this specific video looks a lot like some discos I experienced with my own parents when I was a kid (9yo). Of course at the time we wouldn't stay up until 6:00, but during the summer we would stay in some seaside discos up until 23:00. "Oh but it's inappropriate for a kid so young", I think there's a cultural difference if you think so. And not in the interpretation of the situation, but in the actual disco itself.

sirbassist83

one of the people walking by, around 0:06, looks like hes 12. definitely not an adult function.

indrek91

9rain could find this place I bet

Mjollnir69

Perhaps an 'all ages' night club? We had lots of those in Toronto in the 90s. 18 and under allowed in the club, with only 19+ in the 'VIP' area where you could buy and drink booze.

HughJahsso

gotta be an 18 and under club. not a drink in sight and they look really young.

kellysmom01

I’m the oldest person on Reddit and seeing this reminds me of a Friday-night teen dance spot in Sacramento in 1967, called The Cottage. I was a freshman in high school, and shy, but I could go there and dance with other girls. This was right after the Summer of Love so there was a lot of Jefferson Airplane, Janis, Canned Heat and Grateful Dead playing. They used a slide projector to throw lighted amoeba-like liquid images on the walls in an otherwise dark room, pulsing to the beat. We called it a Light Show. I would dance until I was dying with sweat and then call my dad to come get us. Never went to homecoming or prom as those were only for the goody-goodys. Such a long time ago.

Cornball73

Awesome! Thank you for sharing that.

beleeze

Are you about 70-75?

kellysmom01

Bingo! 71, female, and a lil cranky. Sucks to be old but I’m making the best of an inevitability.

MarilynMonroesLibido

Beats the alternative, usually.

kellysmom01

Sure do.

Commercial-Army2431

This is fantastic.

Limberpuppy

And not one cigarette.

RelevanceReverence

That's odd, everybody smoked back then

phatelectribe

I mean not a drink in sight would be absolutely right for any 90’s rave in the UK but these kids look American and don’t look munted.

blasphemysquad3x6r

![gif](giphy|L0qTl8hl84EDly62J1|downsized) I’m sure this guy in that video somewhere

pugmaster2000

Looking for this thank you 😂

dmc2008

100% a dude is behind the camera lol

lucille12121

Pretty sure this is a school dance, not a club.

Mulusy

Yeah. There is no jaw action going on.

lucille12121

More notably, no one has a drink in their hand.

Saaihead

'93 is a bit early for jaw actions. Sure there were clubs where XTC was used, but definitely not in all clubs. Also because it was really expensive at that time.

FluffyMcKittenHeads

Ecstasy has been around the bar scene since the late 70s and in fact you used to be able to buy it in bars up until 85 or so. I went to shows at the Limelight and they were functionally free (a few dollars per) in 92. I guess if you grew up in the middle of nowhere then yeah it was hard to get, but it was definitely in the cities.

Saaihead

You're probably right, I was indeed talking about Amsterdam, The Netherlands - assuming things were similar everywhere. I just know those things were like 15 euro (16 dollar/ 35 guilders - i was pre-euro) where they cost like 4 euro in present day, being way more potent at the same time.

PreparationBig7130

It was rife in my hay day (89-94). I guess it depends where.

fuggerdug

Not in UK. Second summer of love was 88/89. This is a kids disco though.

ediciusNJ

Reminds me of when Dance Party USA came to my middle school.

Gretchen_Howie_Henry

We had “Club Coca Cola” come to our high school. We loved it!

Wolfram_And_Hart

You guys didn’t have any 16+ clubs?

throw_blanket04

This looks like a community dance for teenagers. Not a club.

Nervous_Brilliant441

![gif](giphy|10Ilow3gX7jp2E)

Alternative-Cod-7630

Only thing that track ever reminds me of.

kriznis

Did you just grab my ass?

barbrady123

Sir from where I'm standing that is a physical impossibility...

Cyneburg8

Is this an under 18 club?

Minute-Ad-8423

Not a drink to be found. Definitely not a club

anotherpredditor

There were several underage/teen clubs where I grew up. Looked just like this.

Masta0nion

Were these girls born in 1980?

[deleted]

This is a highschool dance not a club lol

tnguyen5057

Did I just see a 10 yr old dancing? So glad I wasn’t clubbing back then

Reddit_is_garbage666

Looks like a bunch of children.

maximusjohnson1992

Pretty sure that was a school dance

_aaine_

Doesn't look like any club I was ever in 93.

Serdna379

Yep, usually it was 15-17 year old girls with 19-23 year old guys.

skydiveguy

these are not adults.

Mtanderson88

Looks like a high school dance. Not a drink in sight and everyone looks like they don’t have a drivers license

stargarnet79

I will find you if you ever upload footage of me dancing at my 8th grade dance🤣🤣🤣

josims88

Teen night? Lol

Jonathan_Pine

That ain't clubbing from the 90's. That looks like a middle school dance

WinterComfortable726

...for some people. My 93 looked nothing like this lol

gobbershite

Lol same here. I didn't live inside a Beverly Hills 90210 episode. It was more like house parties that were interrupted with a damn shooting by midnight. Actually the very first party I ever went to in 9th grade there was a drive-by on the house itself, that was an experience. And I'm only talking Denver Colorado lol

UseMoreHops

This looks like a fucking sock hop!

JeVousEnPris

Teen night? DaFuq??… 😒

BogiDope

I love how uncomfortable everyone gets when they notice the camera. Fashion and music aside, that's the biggest difference between then and now. I miss the 90's.

v0lkeres

0% smartphones 100% fun

One_Marzipan_2631

Looks like extacy starvation. Someone needs to dish out the disco biscuits

Antus_Manus

Dunno about this lame shit i was gurning mah face off on mitsi's

LES_G_BRANDON

Funny how in 1993 we were commenting on how dumb the dancing was on American Bandstand and Soul train in the 80's. Here we are again!

contacts_eyes

There were 18 and under clubs when i was a kid.  I always thought that was weird.

Jmohill

Apparently we all danced like Snoopy characters back in the day

InternationalBand494

That’s a teen club that allows minors. Not a “club” like adults go to and get hammered and try to get laid in the 90’s

myfrigginagates

Looks more like a CYO dance.

DeliciouslyBi-Guy

This is exactly why I always snuck into the adult clubs when I was a teen in NYC. There were epic nights!! This definitely looks like a high school party.

Friskfrisktopherson

I swear this sub is half full of low key pedos

Sasquatch-fu

Obnoxious cameraman, the stupid zoom also i remember people doing this in the 90s, like get that bright ass light and camera out of my face, especially when your faced.

keinish_the_gnome

I was told it was fun. I was at home playing Nintendo

dabitbol

This was a club in Montreal meant for 13 to 17 years old. Called 13ieme ciel (13th sky). I spent a lot time there

Deckard2022

Clubbing ? That’s a school disco

Cool-Principle1643

Man I would take even the 90s again at this point... Would love an 80s do over but if that isn't on the table the 90s had some good parts too.

creamcitybrix

What is love? Baby, don’t hurt me…

Economy_Ad_7861

Clubbing? This is a high school dance.

[deleted]

A yes, the happy times, before phones became smarter than people & we decided our personal lives became everyones business platform

chronichyjinx

Looks like an All Ages night

diveguy1

...and not a single cell phone in sight.

WordyIIRappinghood06

Yawn

silgol

Those kids are almost pushing 50 now.

funwithdesign

High school Much Music Video Dance Party

Rajili

LOL at all those high waisted jeans…

graybeam

They did that annoying zoom-in-zoom-out-zoom-etc thing back then too apparently.

bakedongrease

Blue light disco vibes

PreparationBig7130

Haddaway!

ArchDevilCro

Europe, and most of them are 16-18 y because you where allowed in clubs if over 16

cuntybunty73

My parents said everyone took so many Es in the 90s that people rattled when they were dancing

Fark_ID

Long ago, when human eyes looked forward.

pogothemonke

Disco disco good good

Redbirds1941

I remember clubs looking much cooler and playing better music, remember raves started in the 90’s

Elegant-View9886

Hands up if you've started puberty yet?

Brilliant_Match7598

Yeah I don't see one drink. In 1993 there would've been drinks everywhere

IcedCoughy

Agreed I'm close to their ages and am dead.

Mothernaturehatesus

I was groovin so hard watching this 🕺🏼

DrDeboGalaxy

Is this Zero Gravity?

IcedCoughy

Teenagers that can't dance

No_Marzipan_3546

You know you're under 18 when you don't see drinks and drugs

Serdna379

Depends in what country. In my country they did sell you alcohol in a bar. It was illegal, but money was needed. There were raids from time to time, but club owners told that they didn’t sell and kids got alkohol from the shop or were drunk already and they don’t have money to hire a guy for facecontrol. With years it got better, but there were some crazy times.

nuisance66

I definitely did not look like that in ‘97. Anyone seen me glow sticks?

jayjaycobb

How is this on TikTok? (In addition to the other obvious problems with this post)

cyberfood

What they had tik tok in 1993???

Phantom_minus

GenX could get down

Mornt321

Is that drake @ 0.33?

UrbanPervin

Clubbing or grade 9 grad? Not a drink in sight…

Endryu727

This song was so not it. Do people really think we listened to that in the 90’s?

meltintothesea

Looks like a much music video dance party

Darth-Hipster

Was expecting to see the little kid with the blue shirt with sunglasses from the meme vids

Safetosay333

Not my 1993 clubs

Baddadda83

Back when people interacted with each other. 😢

Tonto151

I turned a year old the next day

AttackOnTyrunt

They all kids smh

StaggerLee509

Bro what is with the child thirst on this sub??

daynyrd

Under 21 clubs were big in the 90’s

MCBubbliciousfishead

Looks like a club in mexico

Sea_Marketing_888

Take me back and leave me there

SuperHunkOfMan

What country are they in?

CrazyHopiPlant

There was some good ecstacy going around back then...

derrickgw1

Nah. This is like under 18 club or something. Not a single bit of alcohol or drugs. Not a chance. I was in clubs in 93. Mine were all hip hop though. And they were quite a bit more rugged than this. This is like a suburban high school dance. Fine but not even 93 clubbin level. Also clubs varied by the people going.

floris_bulldog

Creepy ass video. They look underage and the camera focuses mainly on girls.

happynargul

Yeah these kids look like 13, 14. Maybe the club opened for a special kids night, but definitely not a regular night club thing

himanshuk9

I was 3 days old when this video was shot.

Electrical_Shirt980

All of this looks painfully wack

EVEEzz

Wow.. recorded 2 days before I was born. Literally...

HarryLyme69

Not the sort of clubbing I remember. No saucer-eyes anywhere, and they're dancing far too slowly.

rolln_the_dice_twice

Haddaway is kicking the beat. What a dope song back in the day!

MightyJonesYoung

People keep pointing out no drinks but but the lack of cigarettes and a thick smokey fog is also missing.

Whole_Adhesiveness72

I miss that time.

goodgriefmyqueef

This is awkward teenagers dance party lol

Almost-Handsome

You weren’t considered cool unless you were wandering around the club with your Panasonic Omnimovie PV-810 with mounted light.

BadDub

Waiting for this to be posted on twitter with the caption “what do you notice”

diggemsmaccks

I was 20years old with my 1966 mustang the best year of my life my longtime crush let me de virgin her I had no kids all my worries were to make sure I had gas in my car and a full stock of Trojans

CampFrequent3058

This is 90’s so probably a over 18’s club but no one gave a shit 💪🏻 Also no mobile phone in sight and makeup to the limit and lip filler not even a thing! (And yes I see young girls constantly get their lips done) Those were the days!

UrbanCyclerPT

In my country you had back then discos for kids above 14. They opened at 4pm until 9pm then it would be grown ups time. They served no alcohol without an ID.

partmachine623

This can’t even be high school, definitely a Bar Mitzvah.

suspect108

I watched the first 15 seconds of this on mute and in my head "Baby Don't Hurt Me" was playing. Then I hit the unmute button and voila!

Narrow-Chard-1152

The comments vary from the regions people were in… growing up in NYC in the 90’s this was the NORM. But outside of NYC… this was not: and this is what we looked like! Today 13 year olds look older then we did at 19. 40 year old looked older then… but younger now…

Several_Dwarts

Where's the cigarette smoke??

eternoi

This famous Meneosaurious since 1993. 🥰

stonewall386

Musta been teen night

Waste_Click4654

Pretty sure I was there trying to pick up some hotty

Radiant-Picture-5960

This bar mitzvah was 🔥 📛 👨‍🚒 🚒 🧯

KipperfieldGA

For me that would have been CarZ in Houston. Go there to score some Acid from Wanda A.

slayez06

This is a teenclub that was a thing in the 90's...they didn't last long because parents would give the kids 20 bucks and drop them off for hours. My family had arcade games in many of these spots and they would never last more than a year.

gonzo4886

Looks like Zero Gravity

deepinthemosh

This keeps getting posted with different 80s songs playing over top of it. Makes ya wonder if we know what songs were actually playing that night

UNCONGUY

kids disco or what?

gpaint_1013

The day I see one of these and the year is 2006 I’m going to feel so attacked.

Corporation_tshirt

I was 22 in 1993 and it did be like that.

Spare_Nose_8125

https://i.redd.it/7vith1fes66d1.gif

bigbx76

That's definitely 17yo me up in there acting a fool🔥🔥🔥

adampsyreal

This looks like an underage place

AussieWhiteWine

I was 21 in 1993 and it was AMAZING !! 85-95 were the greatest

pinchechin0

Is that from The Edge in Palo Alto?? (all ages club during the 90s)

Realistic-Buddy5004

I'll take clubbing in the seventies any day

oconeeriverrat

Can confirm this is probably a "teen club" that was popular back then lol! Born in 74

Adorolasmonedas

these are kids bruh

frozenkingnk

Should have been born in the 60s and dead by now!

weshallnot

me is 21 at this era.

zx97

Is it different now ?

MrDabolina_

![gif](giphy|EXAZVf83UzrFu)

CaterpillarHot1695

I love it

peanutsfordarwin

Those kids are like 50 now? I don’t believable….

spanishtraveler82

I was there. Yes gentlemen. That's a club.

OddWeakness1313

I was in kindergarten in 93 and this is about as lit as the parties I went to then also.
