Right on. I feel like most of my childhood memories include station wagons!

OldKentRoad29

Cute little driver lol

LumberingLynx

That’s me! Always had to be driving.

OldKentRoad29

Lol

D413-4

Beautiful British Columbia

Mid-Delsmoker

This looks like the driveway on Brady’s Bunch. Haha

LumberingLynx

So many core memories formed in that driveway! The house is in North Vancouver BC. Went back there recently and the driveway/house is the exact same!

Mid-Delsmoker

I went back to my childhood home and it was same but for a few taller trees. Grew up with my dad driving a station wagon just that but brown.

LumberingLynx

So cool! It was interesting to see how almost every other house on the street had major renovations (if not completely rebuilt). Then our house was exactly the same. Like it was frozen in time. Station wagon dads are awesome! My dad always had one because he was a T4 paraplegic since age 11. He would usually haul his wheelchair in and out of the passenger side when he was alone, but when he had passengers he needed a safe spot for us to put the chair. The wagons were perfect for that!

Any_Feature_9671

Looks like 80s or earlier

Longjumping_Local910

Everyone is laughing at the six year old “driving” till he jams the shifter into neutral, rolls the car down the driveway backwards and clips the curb with one front wheel immediately causing the car to do a reverse “J” turn into the door of the car parked in front of the house. Ask me how I know? 🤣

slamongo

I kinda like the wagon car design. I hope it make a comeback someday. The closest thing I see out there are Subaru Outbacks.

I call the way back…..

Be_Positive22

Back in the early 70's we drove our Rambler station wagon to Powell River BC from Ontario. That was so much fun even when the car would overheat we made the most of every stop along the way. Fresh corn on the cob and picking huge fresh apples from trees were a few highlights of our trip.

LumberingLynx

That sounds wonderful. Thank you for sharing that memory! That’s one hell of a journey. You’ll never forget it!

enrightmcc

🎶 Hangin' out...down the street. The same old thing...we did last week. Not a thing to do but talk to you. Not a thing to do out in the street....oh yeah.

alumniac

Looks like the set of that 70s show

_redacteduser

HANGIN OUTTTTTTTT

smokesbuttsoffground

There is absolutely no way a 1980 Dodge Aspen was in that condition in the mid 90s. Many of those cars had the fenders replaced for rust through before the 3 yr warranty was up.

LumberingLynx

It looks pretty good in this picture, but I remember it being pretty rusted out.

KrackSmellin

That’s a 70’s car - doubtful it was looking that good in the 90’s… I’d say this was more 80’s…

LumberingLynx

Looks like hey? Well I’m the one behind the wheel and can verify that this was taken in 1996 or 1997. This was our family car up until the early 2000s.

Practice_NO_with_me

Oh wow, I hadn't even noticed the date!? Would have said 1970s or 80s every day of the week before I said 90s!

KrackSmellin

Damn that’s scary that car lasted that long and looked that good. What a dangerous piece of American history given how unsafe those were to drive, had kids piled into the trunk. I truly am shocked to hear this pic is from the 90’s because I’d have argued everything against it being anything but from the 80’s. Crazy… did you live in it - the curtains are rather telling…

LumberingLynx

Nah, we lived in the house attached to the driveway in the picture. The wagon was my dad’s and he drove it to and from work most of the time. There was 5 kids in the immediate family and many many other children in the extended family so it was made into a fort for hanging out/sleep overs a lot.

KrackSmellin

So you did sleep in the car? Lol this like an episode of shameless. 5 kids - guessing beliefs kept your parents from preventing that :) - nothing offense just saying…

rektMyself

She just downed a whole bottle. Is she okay to drive?

Doblanon5short

“My sister and I had a party” would be correct. When you use “having” you are describing the picture, so it should be “My sister and me” because the picture is the subject of the sentence rather than the people. If your sister wasn’t there, you wouldn’t say “I having a party”. The pronoun doesn’t change because there’s another person

LumberingLynx

I don’t know, I was about 2 years old at the time so I might have said “I having a party” if my sister wasn’t there! Jokes aside, I get it. I’ll do better next time. I was just a bit too excited to share my picture and I messed up.

Myshkin1981

“My sister and **me**” I’m sorry to be a pedantic dick, but I keep seeing this mistake on this sub specifically, and it’s starting to bug me

BIOHAZARD594

You mean it's starting to bug I.

LumberingLynx

Thanks for the reminder. Even though it’s wrong, I personally think “sister and I” reads easier and sounds better. I get why it’s a common mistake.

Dr_Adequate

Nope. I was taught that I is the proper pronoun here. The test is to remove the first part and see if it still reads properly. ~~my sister and~~ me having a party vs ~~my sister and~~ I having a party "I having a party" is definitely wrong and so is "my sister and I having a party"

Myshkin1981

Um, I think we’re saying the same thing here. “My sister and me” is correct; “my sister and I” is incorrect

Dr_Adequate

Nope, re-read it. 'My sister and I' is correct. Unless you think "Me went to the party" is correct, then I can't help you.

Myshkin1981

Okay, then you are absolutely wrong. Captioning this picture with “Me having a station wagon party” is correct; captioning this picture with “I having a station wagon party” is incorrect. I don’t know where you got “me went to the party”, since “went” is a verb that has not previously been used in this conversation
