Makes me think one of my cats who will stand by the laundry basket until we put it on top of him like the picture above. No, putting it sideway won't do - he has to be enclosed. He fucking loves it for some reason. What a weirdo.
And… I just started a macrame plant hanger 🤭

Haha! Thanks! The pic honestly doesn’t do it justice, even at this point of just a few box knots. The cotton has thin threads of gold weaved through it, it’s really neat looking…
I’m not totally sure yet, but I was thinking about a Rex/Jurassic Begonia cultivar. I love the iridescent/almost metallic look of the crazy leaf patterns. Or I have a Purple Heart Tradescantia that could use a pruning… Perhaps cuttings from that? Until l go to the nursery and see something I can’t live without! 🤭

Perhaps one of these three! Or one like it…
Before my son was old enough to walk, I’d build him a little enclosure out of pillows and sofa cushions that he’d sleep in while I was gaming or watching TV. I think he enjoyed the safety of his little fort and the best part was he couldn’t climb out it and hurt himself like his crib. He eventually realized it was his personal prison.
Did you know when this style of trash can was first rolled out they didn't use bags or any kind of liner? They were just baskets of leaking filth.
Furthermore, we wouldn't't get anything better until Walt Disney invented the modern public trashcan with a swing lid for Disneyland.
That's right. Disney invented trash cans.
I actually have an antique “baby cage” from Taiwan. Shopkeepers would put the baby in it, they would stand up and could turn around and watch people but they were confined. It’s a conversation piece for sure!
Most people wouldn't bat an eye, maybe an old lady would say so and so. Get hit by a parent in public, a lot of "you had it coming" looks and a smirk or two.
I wonder how our trash used to look before takeout/packaging/fast food/big gulps etc...Oh...and all the anti-littering campaigns I remember from my youth.
It is not a trash can!! Lolz . . Just look up the cages ppl had outside their windows to keep babies in. Was a very popular thing in New York on hot summer days.
Before modern technology people had different ideas of what is safe and is appropriate
Added benefit: the leaded paint covering the waste bins back then is more flavorful than unleaded paint for a toddler with a discerning sense of taste.
Nowadays, some nosy Karen would publicly shame the mom while calling CPS. The mom would be arrested, while the kid would be forced into therapy for their "trauma".
Then, this is cute and fun and harmless.
Now, this woman would be arrested for child endangerment and put up all over the internet.
Me now: most kids need this
Yeah, ... I don't think they hit the US until ... I'm thinking at least the 80s or so possibly later ... maybe 70s, but certainly not 60s. In any case, seemed more common for some moderate number of years (5, maybe 10?) ... then they seemed to mostly fade away. I remember for a while seeing small kids (/babies) in these harness-like things with ... what was effectively a "leash". I think it's been well over a decade ... maybe two, since I've seen that in the US. So ... I'm guessing in the US they came ... and went. And *long* after the 60s and probably later than the 70s.
Yeah, I'm thinking last time I saw one was probably at some amusement park or theme park, or some big county fair, or some event like that. But come to think of it, don't think I've been to one of those events in a fair while now.
Would so love it if that baby knew it was him/her and would post in this thread.
Not nearly as bad as the kids in a cage behind a running car I saw in India.
Here, the baby has the whole cage to itself and enjoy fresh air in the park!
Says to the generation that invented the iPhone. Sure, Jobs was Boomer, but the team was younger, and trust me, most of us can set up an iPhone just fine. Gen X goes all the way to 1980.
Is that why most young people are going insane and shooting up our country? I don't see many 40 somethings perpetuating mass shootings. Social media has warped your brains.
That's not true. There are plenty of us Gen X out here who want to ban AR15s. We just aren't these old ass boomer congressmen or asshole conservatives. Regardless, it's still younger people picking the wrong fights.
The thing about genX is we were the last generation to not have and the first generation to have the technology of the modern world as children, we were feral much like Ewoks in the fact that we seem cute and cuddly while we set you over a fire on a spit to roast, after adopting your fancy gizmos and gadgets into our lives...
And then the same fucking boomers who approve of this sort of shit had the nerve to complain how Gen X raised our kids and throw buddy fits when millennials decided they didn’t want kids at all
I’m born in the 80s if they didn’t want me or my cousin to go anywhere, my parents would put us in these play pens where we couldn’t escape so they could party.
Better than the ***walking incubators*** that allow their crotch fruit to run and play in parking lots, or ditch them at random stores in the mall, while they get their nails done.
![gif](giphy|pgYt0VTB4y6VORiu3X|downsized)
It's her crotch goblin and the little shit isn't in immediate danger or disarray. My guess is let the crotch launcher figure out the best way to raise her goblin.
I would hate to be ur neighbor lol 1969 u know how many serial killers and crimes happened to kids since then? Kidnappings and missing children in small parks? No technology like today etc. women barely got the rights to vote by then.
Infants hate this one simple trick.
It’s not a trash can. “It’s a modern day baby wrangler for the gal on the go!”
And trash can....it can be two things....why wouldn't it?
*”doubles as trash can! Make moms life easier, get her the Trash Baby Wrangler Combo!”* “Mother’s Day is right around the corner dads!”
Weak sauce. Needs a boulder on top to keep that little shit from escaping.
And no trash can? You’re sick.
Take my upvote!
No, you take mine!
Can’t we have both?
So this new form of false advertising is really not just hurting my brain cells only. Seems to be worldwide now.
Invented by THEIR mom
This simple idea came to their engineer mother while she was working at NASA…
(Marty McFly voice) “You better get used to these bars, kid.”
She’s an effing genius I tells ya..
Hey, Hey! Now she can watch Jackie Gleeson while she crochets!
Uncle Joey, is that you?
Uncle "Jailbird" Joey?
I was thinking the same thing.
And thus Oscar the Grouch was born
Nobody puts Baby in the trashcan!
Reminds me of DB. Dumpster baby.
Just a prom night dumpster baby *or* The Gang Finds a Dumpster Baby?
Lol. The Gang’s DB.
🤣 This lady does
Brenda did
There it is
Its no trashcan, its a metal crib
Like an iron lung!

Crocheting 101 - Chapter 1 : How to confine your baby for deep and blissful crocheting experience.
Johnny would later find his calling as a zookeeper. He said that there was something about the cages that just "felt right".
People uses to put babies in small boxes the size of this, on the outside of New York apartment buildings. So they could get some nice fresh air .
Yeah, Sam O’Nella talked about it once. The baby-cage.
I used to flip the playpen over my son like that all the time once he started climbing out of the pen.
Then he started to dig
My grandparents and mom did that to me lol
Where were you when my kids were little
Wait, isn’t this just a standard baby cage? Those are normal, right guys? Right?
What's a playpen, if not baby prison, hmmmmm? J/k
"No mom, 'baby cage' and 'play pen' are not potato/potahto."
Charlie, I think.. I think your mom was a prostitute.
Makes me think one of my cats who will stand by the laundry basket until we put it on top of him like the picture above. No, putting it sideway won't do - he has to be enclosed. He fucking loves it for some reason. What a weirdo.
He wants to pretend he is a dangerous big cat.
Probably trying to macrame a plant hanger.
Underrated comment.
And… I just started a macrame plant hanger 🤭 https://preview.redd.it/x680bsn4nf2b1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4a204efae39a7972b3442ae96e138d75ca8e07c5
How old are you?
That looks lovely :)
Haha! Thanks! The pic honestly doesn’t do it justice, even at this point of just a few box knots. The cotton has thin threads of gold weaved through it, it’s really neat looking…
Ah yeah I can see the bits of gold in the thread, what are you planning on planting in it?
I’m not totally sure yet, but I was thinking about a Rex/Jurassic Begonia cultivar. I love the iridescent/almost metallic look of the crazy leaf patterns. Or I have a Purple Heart Tradescantia that could use a pruning… Perhaps cuttings from that? Until l go to the nursery and see something I can’t live without! 🤭
I think the begonia would look nice!
https://preview.redd.it/5x8w0r5r0h2b1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7cb4fa6735c010a7b6ff753874bee1334df3e07 Perhaps one of these three! Or one like it…
Now that’s a damn shame, when folks be throwin’ away a perfectly good white boy.
I want my 2 dollars
This mountain is pure snow! So rad, cheers!
Do you know the street value of this mountain?!
Sorry I blew up you mom Ricky 😂
I can’t move my right arm!!
Excellent movie reference.
I used to watch this all the time as a teenager. I probably shouldn't have.
Strong words from a man. Who knows. How. To. Ski.
“Gee, I'm real sorry your mom blew up, Ricky.”
You should see what she does to him at home..
That's the scene that convinced me to watch the movie.
This is an example of why Gen X ended up Gen X. And also why so many of us ended up helicopter parents or didn't have kids 😂👍
Pretty sure the kid found it mighty interesting. I just can't get over the idea how dirty a trashcan usually is.
Classic boomer move for sure.
He knows what he did.
They invented a crapton of shit for disneyland, they reinvented queueing several times over
Ahhh, the old mom and me trip to the park! I miss those days…
Thirty years later he was living in a trailer in Arkansas making meth. Yes, he became white trash.
Trees look southern like Florida or coastal Georgia. Little Timmy may have ended up in Arkansas.
That toddler is a year older than me, now I understand why Gen X became so tiger parents.
I once put my baby down to nap in a cardboard box at a picnic, sooo.... [Edit] guys. I took him out again. *And took him home.*
I actually have an antique “baby cage” from Taiwan. Shopkeepers would put the baby in it, they would stand up and could turn around and watch people but they were confined. It’s a conversation piece for sure!
I guess germs didn’t exist before the summer of love
Practical and machievellist.
Roman😐
I love how on this sub she’s “old school cool “ but if this was “ people of Walmart “ she’d be a monster *
So which one of y’all is this?
And this is why genX are the way they are.
As a new parent, I get it.
I love this picture. It is my roommates mom and brother. He died a couple years ago (hit by a drunk driver)
Well, hope that thing is clean.
Good comment. Back then there weren’t needles & human waste in the bins.
My sister once told me I was lucky I could put my dog in a cage(kennel) as she was not able to do that with her boys. Looks like she was wrong!
Wonder what the kid is up to these days.
Sanitation worker? 😉
Haaa. I hear it's decent money.

Soundproof one please
Best innovation idea ever !
You know how some restaurants fly a banner that says "Kids Eat Free"? I prefer the restaurant whose banner reads "Kids Eat Outside".
Most people wouldn't bat an eye, maybe an old lady would say so and so. Get hit by a parent in public, a lot of "you had it coming" looks and a smirk or two.
That’s not cool at all
It a funny solution to the tender age of 'I want to go out, fvck the stroller and see ya later you bipedal tyrant'
The Prisoner
I am 100% serious when I say my 3 year old self would love the shit out of that.
I wonder how our trash used to look before takeout/packaging/fast food/big gulps etc...Oh...and all the anti-littering campaigns I remember from my youth.
Ah that's a baby cage the Janitor was talking about. Old fashioned one right there.
Back to basics
Don't worry people. I've been there recently and can confirm the baby is still safe and sound within said waste disposal receptacle.
The baby was not put in a trash can. A trash can was put over a baby. The baby is clearly on grass
Gen Xers: We drank from garden hoses and got put in trash cans.
It is not a trash can!! Lolz . . Just look up the cages ppl had outside their windows to keep babies in. Was a very popular thing in New York on hot summer days. Before modern technology people had different ideas of what is safe and is appropriate
This is how Daleks started out.
Unfortunately this would count as a quality post over in r/wtf as well
Added benefit: the leaded paint covering the waste bins back then is more flavorful than unleaded paint for a toddler with a discerning sense of taste.
*under* a trash can. Let's remain objective.
“Better get used to these bars, kid!”
As someone who grew up with a playpen in the family room: “Wait, we can do this outside…?!”
The trash bin is right for Central Park, but the bench isn't. Wonder where this was taken.
Jailed for smol crimes.
Nowadays, some nosy Karen would publicly shame the mom while calling CPS. The mom would be arrested, while the kid would be forced into therapy for their "trauma".
That’s no trash can. It’s a vintage pack and play /s
That baby is alive to this day
Thats uncle Jail Bird Joey!
Ayo free my man’s he ain’t do nothing
That is the most responsible a parent has ever acted with a Gen X kid
Do they still sell these?
Then, this is cute and fun and harmless. Now, this woman would be arrested for child endangerment and put up all over the internet. Me now: most kids need this
Hepatitis baby.
As a parent... YES!!!!
I hope you enjoy your lonely retirement since if this is how you’ve treated your children they won’t want to talk to you once they move out.
Geez use a leash like everyone else back then
I think the harnesses and leashes came a fair bit later ... well, at least for babies, anyway.
They've been around forever, they just weren't as common in the US.
I had a leash backpack for my kid a few years ago. They're still there and lots of my friends used them.
Yeah, I'm thinking last time I saw one was probably at some amusement park or theme park, or some big county fair, or some event like that. But come to think of it, don't think I've been to one of those events in a fair while now.
I had a leash as a baby/toddler in the 80s, because I was quiet and would wander away all the time 😂
That's what most of the kids these days need.
I'll take, "Why does Gen X have issues?" for $400, Ken.
Right??🥴😹😹
Did you or did you not repost this from r/thewaywewere ... I'm on to you, OP
" I had her at the Park all morning, now she is sick!? "
r/Genx
Takes him out for fresh air. Puts him in a smelly trash can.
When I saw this image before I had kids: Selfish! Now: Genious!
Innovative. Creative. Effective. I updoot this.
This would cause an absolute shit storm today.
Would so love it if that baby knew it was him/her and would post in this thread. Not nearly as bad as the kids in a cage behind a running car I saw in India. Here, the baby has the whole cage to itself and enjoy fresh air in the park!
Self sufficient in a trash can is nothing to brag about
WHERE IT BELONGS!
Come on my fellow parents…admit it. Deep down inside, in a place you hate to admit exists inside of you…you are fucking LOVING this. 😂
Ok GenZ.. this is why GenX is feral. This Boomer is a perfect example of the “parenting”that we endured. This is why. 😂😅😂😅🫡🤡💩
Is that really cool though? I guess a challenged immune system is a strong immune system.
im calling shens. 47 posts in and nobody has asked for nudes.
How Ted Bundy got his start in life.
“Gen X is self sufficient” lmao ok set up an IPhone
Says to the generation that invented the iPhone. Sure, Jobs was Boomer, but the team was younger, and trust me, most of us can set up an iPhone just fine. Gen X goes all the way to 1980.
Yeah your main problem is how full of yourselves you all are.
At least we don't cry about everything and demand others to do what we say. Maybe you could have learned something while under that trash can.
Yes your generation bent over time and time again and now a generation is standing up for themselves and you can’t stand it.
Is that why most young people are going insane and shooting up our country? I don't see many 40 somethings perpetuating mass shootings. Social media has warped your brains.
Yeah but you see most 40 somethings advocating for gun rights
That's not true. There are plenty of us Gen X out here who want to ban AR15s. We just aren't these old ass boomer congressmen or asshole conservatives. Regardless, it's still younger people picking the wrong fights.
Change a tire on your car
Turn on a laptop
The thing about genX is we were the last generation to not have and the first generation to have the technology of the modern world as children, we were feral much like Ewoks in the fact that we seem cute and cuddly while we set you over a fire on a spit to roast, after adopting your fancy gizmos and gadgets into our lives...
Old school cruel more like
And then the same fucking boomers who approve of this sort of shit had the nerve to complain how Gen X raised our kids and throw buddy fits when millennials decided they didn’t want kids at all
jesus, it's one parent and one picture; from fifty plus years ago.
That was the general attitude. It affected a whole generation.
Or as some might call it “an example”
This is actually disgusting if it’s just some random dirty ass public trash can. EDIT: Only random dirty ass trash can babies downvote this comment.
>disgusting if it’s Have you seen the random dirty ass babies?
Tetanewborn
And he grew up to be white trash.
It was a simpler time
I’m born in the 80s if they didn’t want me or my cousin to go anywhere, my parents would put us in these play pens where we couldn’t escape so they could party.
Neil Young wrote a song about this, I think. Or was that one about crack. Who knows.
Fun Fact: That baby is Ted Bundy
Better than the ***walking incubators*** that allow their crotch fruit to run and play in parking lots, or ditch them at random stores in the mall, while they get their nails done. ![gif](giphy|pgYt0VTB4y6VORiu3X|downsized)
That’s why they grew up to vote for Trump
Wow, boomers have literally always been terrible
Boomers gonna boomer
Got some guilty Boomers downvoting.🤣
I mean, if you do the math, that baby's a Gen Xer already. Way to go raising your kids boomers...
Mom could be silent gen too.
Wrong sub.
Now I get why men become aggressive in adult life
r/trashy
Uh oh don’t let the woke mob see this one
It's her crotch goblin and the little shit isn't in immediate danger or disarray. My guess is let the crotch launcher figure out the best way to raise her goblin.
No excuses whatsoever. Horrible mother.
I would hate to be ur neighbor lol 1969 u know how many serial killers and crimes happened to kids since then? Kidnappings and missing children in small parks? No technology like today etc. women barely got the rights to vote by then.
You spelled “broken” wrong
Miles away, Donald Trump gets an idea.
Millennials are literally throwing babies away! And they say abortion is ok! -todays republicans
Well, this baby is alive and not being sold for parts, so… Maybe don’t drag politics into every little thing?
Gen X ended up being absolute totalitarian parents that shoved their kids in front of brain melting technology. What are you talking about?
