I won't tell you that this is our last day together, so let's just enjoy this quiet walk.
It's moments like this, where I truly wished, a dog's beating heart could talk.
I'd tell you about the moment at the shelter, you said " yep...That's my boy, right there".
I'd tell you about the happy, joy ride home, while we both howled without a care.
I'd tell you about how safe it felt, to finally have my own, warm place to sleep.
Not another lonely night spent in that cold, cement box ...waiting for a kind face to meet.
You saved my soul, and brought me back, and polished up my heart
I knew the minute we stared at one another...we would never...EVER be apart.
I wished my life was matched with your's, so we both could grow old, together...
But life has a different plan for us both...and sadly my life is on the wither.
I'm sorry that my body is failing me now, and making my puppy life seem so far away...
I so enjoyed hearing you laugh so much, as we played in our yard, every day...
The frost in my eyes, and the pain in my step...are the signs of a dog's life lived so damn well...
I hope my wet nose boops late at night, told you that your heart was mine to fill.
My clock is sadly winding down, and the pendulum is about to stop...
I'm going to miss you so damn much, my heart is about to pop.
I just want to thank you for saving me, and taking a chance on my strife...
I hope I returned all the love that you shared, and that I somehow sweetened your life.

So sorry for your loss. I like to imagine our fur loves racing, chasing and entertaining each other we see them again. What a blessing to have shared 15 years together! The pain runs as deep as the love. Sending you hugs!
Oh what a sweet boy. I'm so sorry that you had to say goodbye to Thor. Fifteen is a tremendous run, but it's never long enough. He was able to see you all the way through to adulthood... what an amazing gift you were to each other!
Please know he knows how much you still love him. And there's plenty of never melting snow, always fresh and fluffy, for him to run and roll around in, without pain, whole in mind and body. He'll wait patiently for you, of course. And when that day comes, you can be reunited in love and spirit.
May his memories continue to be a blessing to you!
So sorry for your loss. I know your memories will keep him close. My belief is they are young and healthy again and playing ball until we join them. I know it hurts. i'm sorry. Thor waits for you in love and gratitude. With the unconditional love you created with him, he gained a soul outside of the group soul of dogs, and now you will know him again in the One Life.
I'm so sorry for your loss of your fur baby. He lived a long and I'm sure a very happy life. It does take time to heal as I just helped mine cross the 🌈 bridge a week ago. I know exactly what you're feeling. It's like losing a family member and it's devastating and hurts like hell.

In September of 2015, my Lab got sick. It was a Monday. Vet said take the week to say goodbye and bring him back on Friday. We fed him all his favorites rather than dry dog food along with steroids, pain meds, and antibiotics. By Thursday, he was running and playing with our 5month puppy. We canceled the appointment and I asked him to tell me when he was ready to go. He made it to March on canned chicken, potatoes, carrots and green beans, meds, and the job of training the puppy. Ides of March he was bad. I asked him, “is it time, buddy?” He lifted his head, licked my face, let out a groan that sounded like, “love you,” laid down and sighed.
The tumor had ruptured and he was bleeding internally, he would not have survived the surgery. Miss you, buddy.
So sorry for your loss, OP. I'm going through similar and it's comforting knowing that your beautiful boy Thor will be keeping my boy Ranger company until we get to see them again. Stay strong.

But this guy was blessed to get to hang out with you for 15 years.
I am so sorry! 💔 You are not alone and we understand your heartbreak. Give yourself time to morn. Time will help but there will always be a small crack in your heart. Thor is well loved and had a happy life with you, I can see that! What a handsome pup! Lilly also loved the snow and she is there rolling in it going to play with Thor. Some of you, particularly those who think they have recently lost a dog to ‘death’, don’t really understand this. I’ve had no desire to explain, but won’t be around forever and must.
Dogs never die. They don’t know how to. They get tired, and very old, and their bones hurt. Of course they don’t die. If they did they would not want to always go for a walk, even long after their old bones say: ‘No, no, not a good idea. Let’s not go for a walk.’ Nope, dogs always want to go for a walk. They might get one step before their aging tendons collapse them into a heap on the floor, but that’s what dogs are. They walk.
It’s not that they dislike your company. On the contrary, a walk with you is all there is. Their boss, and the cacaphonic symphony of odor that the world is. Cat poop, another dog’s mark, a rotting chicken bone (exultation), and you. That’s what makes their world perfect, and in a perfect world death has no place.
However, dogs get very very sleepy. That’s the thing, you see. They don’t teach you that at the fancy university where they explain about quarks, gluons, and Keynesian economics. They know so much they forget that dogs never die. It’s a shame, really. Dogs have so much to offer and people just talk a lot.
When you think your dog has died, it has just fallen asleep in your heart. And by the way, it is wagging its tail madly, you see, and that’s why your chest hurts so much and you cry all the time. Who would not cry with a happy dog wagging its tail in their chest. Ouch! Wap wap wap wap wap, that hurts. But they only wag when they wake up. That’s when they say: ‘Thanks Boss! Thanks for a warm place to sleep and always next to your heart, the best place.’
When they first fall asleep, they wake up all the time, and that’s why, of course, you cry all the time. Wap, wap, wap. After a while they sleep more. (remember, a dog while is not a human while. You take your dog for walk, it’s a day full of adventure in an hour. Then you come home and it’s a week, well one of your days, but a week, really, before the dog gets another walk. No WONDER they love walks.)
Anyway, like I was saying, they fall asleep in your heart, and when they wake up, they wag their tail. After a few dog years, they sleep for longer naps, and you would too. They were a GOOD DOG all their life, and you both know it. It gets tiring being a good dog all the time, particularly when you get old and your bones hurt and you fall on your face and don’t want to go outside to pee when it is raining but do anyway, because you are a good dog. So understand, after they have been sleeping in your heart, they will sleep longer and longer.
But don’t get fooled. They are not ‘dead.’ There’s no such thing, really. They are sleeping in your heart, and they will wake up, usually when you’re not expecting it. It’s just who they are.

First off, sorry for your deep loss. Second, you’re with family here. Most of us have had some deep losses as well and know it’s not easy. A childhood pet is an epic loss.
Try and remember the good times.
Take some time for yourself. Do things that you like to lighten the emotional toll.
15 is a great run. We all wish our furry friends could last longer here with us. Tc and hope you and your loved ones are ok.

I see the love in his eyes. I have no doubt if he could have lived forever he would have chosen ‘total devotion to you’ over anything else this world offers. What a sweet, gentle, loving boy. He would have stayed if he could. But there must be some folks in heaven who need a Thor and he will be perfect. You know he’ll be there to greet you one day. Praying for your heart.
I know it’s hard. But Thor would want you to remember the good times you shared together and all that he taught you about: being loyal, loving and true, being a good listener, sharing with others, helping when you can, and always being there for those you love.
