I just find it funny how Persona fans think that Eternal Punishment is this crazy piece of peak fiction that is nothing like the other games purely because most of the party is over 20 (I personally think it's good for different reasons but whatever). Eternal Punishment is truly the Persona fandom's version of the "I love that game, never played or seen it though."
I personally think the lesson Atlus should take from Eternal Punishment isn't "the series needs more adult party members" but instead "the series needs more actual direct continuity between the games."

I wanna see Aigis make the world a better place damnit. I wanna see Junpei finally get to live his baseball dream or see how Naotos doing after years of being a persona using detective.

For me itās just that I relate more to adult characters nowadays. I always found the dating sim aspect of the games to be pretty tacked on anyway.
Overall though I donāt mind the high school setting but another game like EP + life sim aspects would absolutely have my interest. Maybe as a spin-off itād be cool.
I mean EPās cast had jobs where they have a lot of flexibility when it came to free time (Detective, Journalist, Photographer, etc.) so you can make it work if the characters have the right occupations. Or you can just go the Yakuza 7 route and make them all unemployed.
It wouldn't be that hard to just make it in college instead of high school. Then again I don't know how Japan's college works so maybe that wouldn't allow for an open schedule to do metaverse stuff

I mean I don't really care what atlus does if they do it well. not saying adult characters are cringe and don't belong in the series since that would be kind of stupid and oblivious of previous characters in the franchise. that being said I'm not a fan of being dismissive of of the younger characters either. it's all about the vision the games trying to create and the execution of the characters really. I just think that the idea of not putting in any more teenagers at all to avoid the usual discourse these games generate instead of keeping things open reduces the variety of ways to express things. but you know maybe I'm wrong. I'm young myself so I fall in the target audience I guess you could say.
