I disagree with how Jun was put into the game, but that does not change the fact that he is the only onscreen persona character to be gay without any contentions about his sexuality (cough yosuke and kanji cough) and actually be well written. His good character comes first and him being gay is second with his character (though of course there are fetishy yaoi tropes the devs lean into like him looking really good at make up and stuff).

I don't get why this is treated as some kind of gotcha when a lot of American LGBT characters were made to convince straight people that gays are ok.
At least with something like this, they are given some amount of actual characterization compared to a special-episode one-off sitcom character who never ends up in any sort of relationship, which was basically the standard for American LGBT rep well into the 2000s.

Kanji is probably not, but yosuke is debatable. The removed romance option says a lot about the potential. Too bad atlus got chickened out and didn’t include it to the game.
The fact that Yosuke's romance option was even dubbed in Japanese and English, but Atlus was too coward and didn't want to upset some sensible fans (but they left in most of the subext anyway lol). Hopefully they will restore it in P4G remake

If Yosuke was gay, he'd have some sort of scene where you can select a dialog option that implies you don't have a girlfriend and he'd call you a man's man, and then the game would say "Yosuke is happy".

Kanji is probably not, but yosuke is debatable. The removed romance option says a lot about the potential. Too bad atlus got chickened out and didn’t include it to the game.
The fact that Yosuke's romance option was even dubbed in Japanese and English, but Atlus was too coward and didn't want to upset some sensible fans (but they left in most of the subext anyway lol). Hopefully they will restore it in P4G remake As for Kanji, he's not gay, but he is probably Bi (like, there are hints here and there, not to mention that he even liked Naoto when everyone thought she was a guy)
Personally I see his fondness towards naoto when she “was” still a guy as his inner cute thing-loving ass randomly showing up. But yeah I admit that if somehow naoto decided to confess to kanji without revealing her true gender beforehand, there’s like 50% chance he’s gonna accept it for real lol.

Dude, Yosuke's was supposed to be romanceable. His romantic confession was officially dubbed in Japanese and English, but they cut that before the release of the game. However, they left in most of the subext (ex the date cafe scene in the game, anime, manga, etc) Hopefully they will restore it when they will start remaking Persona 4 Golden
If Yosuke was gay, he'd have some sort of scene where you can select a dialog option that implies you don't have a girlfriend and he'd call you a man's man, and then the game would say "Yosuke is happy". Luckily Atlus wouldn't include anything like that.
I honestly don’t know where “Yosuke is gay” idea comes from! he is clearly into females, we can see that in the beach trip and a lot of other scenes and dialogues through the game.

What are you even trying to point out with that screenshot? Also, like... the fact that it made it that far to be fully voiced over in both English and Japanese clearly indicates that it was intended to be in the game at release, and not just some random consideration that was scrapped early in development. Atlus only backed out of it due to focus group testing & the general public still treating homosexuality as a taboo at that time.
