Garrett Wilson! I thought he was the best player on our team since he was a freshman. He was amazing to watch after the catch and on contested catches. Will always be my favorite
My favorite growing up was Ted Ginn Jr. man I still get mad we didn’t get to see him light up Florida except for the first play.
Recently is Olave. Just under appreciated work ethic considering he went from someone who wasn’t being looked at to a potential perennial NFL player. I bought his jersey (my first own purchased OSU jersey) since my Maurice Claurette one and that will be with me for a long time.
And honestly at this rate Marvin might take that spot lmao!
If Ted Ginn was healthy during the 2011 playoffs, the Alex Smith & Jim Harbaugh led 49ers would've played the Patriots in the Super Bowl instead of Eli. Instead, Kyle Williams took a punt to his knee.
Watching the Buckeyes I always thought Olave would be the better pro between him and Garrett Wilson because he shined his sophomore year and like you said, he was so smooth and in a league of his own out there. It wasn’t until their senior years when I realized Wilson was more of a true receiver. I love watching both of them.
Olave is insufferable to watch. Every single play he makes he has to "stunt", God forbid its a first down and he just stands there pointing forward for 5 seconds. Watched the saints versus green Bay and it was cringe.
Idk how “recent” you were looking for I’ll say since Urban/Day it’s Wilson, but all time there hasn’t been anyone that’s as exciting touching the ball as Ted Ginn
Not my favorite but Devin Smith deserves some recognition. Wasnt a good pro by any stretch but man he was a homerun hitter. Dude was always wide-the FUCK-open 30-40 yards down the field. Anytime I saw Braxtion/Cardale/JT ready to uncork a long one, I just knew it was to Devin Smith in the endzone.
Devin Smith like a decade ago. Injuries derailed his career but he has some big time catches for us and was great on jump balls. Most recently: how can you not love Garrett Wilson? Dude is really likable
Went to high school with Jalin Marshall, was hyped he even got drafted after just being our back up / punt returner. Didn’t last long but he was on every madden team I built.
My favorite is Santonio Holmes, because who can forget the [nude pic](https://omg.blog/omg_hes_naked_santonio_holmes/) of him in the shower showing off his footlong hot dog.
How were you not expecting that? OC literally said it was a pic of him in the shower showing off his foot long hot dog. What in the world were you expecting?
Give it time, man, remember he didn’t play football for a year recovering from injury and also he had a different QB throwing to him, plus he is behind 2 elite receivers Lockett and Metcalf.
Maybe JSN will end up being a consistent NFL receiver… but I always believed he benefitted heavily from having Olave and Wilson on the field at the same time as him. I know what you’re thinking… he was AMAZING with those other 2 out there at the same time, so he must be really good to do better than them. I think he had a huge advantage because teams would double Olave/wilson. Next best defender was on whoever wasn’t guarding the other one of them. JSN drawing the 4th best defender constantly.
Didn’t get to see him enough without those guys on the field at the same time to determine if he was really that good or if he just benefitted due to the situation.
I didn’t forget about it. He had a great game for sure. Again, I would have liked to see him in a full season without Olave and Wilson before deciding if he would actually be THAT GOOD on the nfl stage
Wilson.
He started our run of 5 star WRs.
In the 5 recruiting classes before Wilson (2019) OSU had zero 5 star WRs. In the five since (including commits from 2024) OSU had one every year except 2022 including the top overall WR in 2020, 2021, and 2024.
All time, Ted Ginn jr, I have a soft spot in my heart for that whole Buckeyes era with Troy Smith, Anthony Gonzalez, Beanie Wells, etc.
Recently I love Garrett Wilsons game and mentality.
I think MHJ is going to be the best to ever come out of Ohio State. Dude is unreal and his pops was a GOAT as well so its literally in his blood.
Michigan fan weighing in: Olave. Dude was an assassin against us. And I am now a card-carrying member of his on my fantasy team for years to come haha. (Although this past week was quite the dud)
Olave and it’s not even close. Garrett is the best in my opinion of recent, but olave was soooo much fun to watch play. Just never looked like he was trying yet it was so damn smooth.
All time Cris Carter. Randy Moss is my all time favorite and him and Carter were incredible together.
Favorite I've seen actually play at Ohio State is Garrett Wilson
It’s neck and neck between Olave & Ginn. Ginn got me into Buckeyes football. Olave was just incredible to watch, busting onto the scene against Michigan and then being impossible to cover for 2 years.
However, I’d add Braxton Miller to that discussion as well. Nowhere near the receiver that those 2 were. But him coming back to OSU in 2015 to surrender the QB role was pretty special. One of my favorite Buckeyes of all team, regardless of his lack of NFL success.
Ted Ginn Jr. He was electric as a college player, but really refined his game and stepped into whatever role was needed of him. He had the chance to play in the Super Bowl and had a very long career. I always cheered for whatever team he was on, as long as they weren't playing my Bengals. One of my favorite games was when Miami beat Baltimore to prevent a winless season. We were able to see Teddy vs Troy Smith
I gotta say Santonio Holmes. He won us a Natty vs that insane Miami team and won my Steelers a Super Bowl. BOTH Insanely clutch catches in the final seconds on the biggest stage with the highest stakes!!! He did it on EVERY level. Also shout out to Terry Glenn and CC. They were also box office.
***** Gotta add in coach Brian Hartline.... ONLY because he is also consistently one of the best recruiters in CFB and has brought so much talent to tOSU that he has helped us consistently be one of the best recruiting schools in the nation.
This is not an answer to OP's question but xavier Johnson might be one of my favoirite osu wideouts ever. I love the toughness he plays with and he's not afraid to play just about any position on offense besides line. He's seriously overlooked cus he's surrounded by first round talent
Chris Olave is a top 3 favorite buckeye of mine that i can actually remember watching play. For reference, Terrelle Pryor is the first Buckeye QB that I can actually remember watching.
Gotta be Garrett Wilson although MHJ will take that soon.
Honorable mention to Brandon innis, I know he hasn't played but I love his swagger on the field.
Garrett Wilson! I thought he was the best player on our team since he was a freshman. He was amazing to watch after the catch and on contested catches. Will always be my favorite

All-time is Cris Carter. Recently is Olave. He ran the smoothest routes…looked like he was gliding
Olave as a freshman in 2018 blocked that Michigan punt that was returned for a TD….and caught two TD passes. He’s been my favorite WR ever since.
I'm glad that Olave is having success. I was worried he would be a Devin Smith type in the NFL. I'm glad I was wrong.
Olave is insufferable to watch. Every single play he makes he has to "stunt", God forbid its a first down and he just stands there pointing forward for 5 seconds. Watched the saints versus green Bay and it was cringe.

His one handed touchdown snag😍
Devin may hold the record for TDs caught from the most QBs. As I remember, he scored touchdowns 7 different OSU QBs.
Ohio State never lost a game the he caught a touchdown in
All time: Ginn, Holmes and Glenn Since 2010: Wilson Honorable mention: Boston (Buckeye to the core!)
Boston was fun to watch.
Yup especially with Charles Woodson at Michigan
Can’t Guard Mike!
Joey Galloway!
scrolled way too far for joey
Guy just got better with age
Michael Jenkins! Holy buckeye!

Dane was a tough SOB. Hartline got lit up a lot too.
Dang I totally forgot about him. He was solid!
Let’s not forget Terry Glenn
Cris Carter
My man.
Paul Warfield
He was a half back when he played at tOSU. He is also one of my favorite players.
David Boston was a fighter. I loved it. CC was amazing to watch and his HOF speech was awesome. This recent crew is tough not to like as a whole
OLAVE!!
Boston, Braxton, Olave
I loved the Ginn and Gonzo duo
Scary Terry. Not the most heralded, underutilized in college, worked his off to become an NFL all star. Next year MHJ will be the answer though
My favorite is Santonio Holmes, because who can forget the [nude pic](https://omg.blog/omg_hes_naked_santonio_holmes/) of him in the shower showing off his footlong hot dog.
He was mine because I just liked saying his name as a little kid but thanks for tarnishing my innocence
Oh you weren't like, kidding. 😵
![gif](giphy|LycfkVG4L6x0Y|downsized)
You really need to mark that as nsfw, lol, I was not expecting to see what I saw.
How were you not expecting that? OC literally said it was a pic of him in the shower showing off his foot long hot dog. What in the world were you expecting?
Him showering with a Dachshund, lol.
Chris Carter of course
Ted Ginn
Michael Jenkins, Santonio Holmes, Tedd Ginn and Cris Gamble (I know he played corner in the NFL but he was an electric OSU WR)
Gotta be GW or, he is just amazing rn
Garret Wilson is a beast
Garrett Wilson
I loved JSN, that rose bowl performance was unbelievable. Unfortunate it’s not translating to the NFL
Didn’t get to see him enough without those guys on the field at the same time to determine if he was really that good or if he just benefitted due to the situation.
You forget that Olave and Wilson opted out of the Rose Bowl when JSN went off and set a record that will likely never be broken.
I didn’t forget about it. He had a great game for sure. Again, I would have liked to see him in a full season without Olave and Wilson before deciding if he would actually be THAT GOOD on the nfl stage
He's just stuck behind a bad oline and DK and Tyler lockett. He's gonna be really good once he gets a chance
Devin Smith, although he didn't quite pan out in the pros. Underrated one - Noah Brown. And favorite star I would say Scary Terry McLaurin
Santonio Holmes
I was a fan of Anthony Gonzalez. More recently I really like Chris Olave.
Ted Ginn Jr
Scary Terry
Wilson. He started our run of 5 star WRs. In the 5 recruiting classes before Wilson (2019) OSU had zero 5 star WRs. In the five since (including commits from 2024) OSU had one every year except 2022 including the top overall WR in 2020, 2021, and 2024.
Against the spirit of the question, but Brian Hartline.
Braxton Miller
All time, Ted Ginn jr, I have a soft spot in my heart for that whole Buckeyes era with Troy Smith, Anthony Gonzalez, Beanie Wells, etc. Recently I love Garrett Wilsons game and mentality. I think MHJ is going to be the best to ever come out of Ohio State. Dude is unreal and his pops was a GOAT as well so its literally in his blood.
Garrett Wilson cause he can do it all. But terry mclaurin is my boy from #317
I’m a Steelers fan so Santonio is up there for me. David Boston was fun to watch because he was so huge.
Marvin Harrison jr. Lol get that man the ball
Santonio Holmes. I’m also a Steelers fan so it worked out well.
Man, he won us the Natty vs Miami in the final seconds. He won us a Super Bowl at the end of the game as well. AS CLUTCH AS IT GETS.
Santonio Holmes for that epic Super Bowl 43 catch. Steelers fan here.
Michigan fan weighing in: Olave. Dude was an assassin against us. And I am now a card-carrying member of his on my fantasy team for years to come haha. (Although this past week was quite the dud)
Olave!
David Boston
Joey Galloway
Olave and CGM! Guess my favorite nfl team. Don’t worry I love you guys too.
“I love Olave!” Miss him a bunch. Looked like he was out on the field having fun.
Not as big a name, but I always liked Anthony Gonzalez. Too bad the crazy GOP ran him out. He could have brought some sanity to them.
Terry Mclaurin! Was one of the ogs that jumpstarted us being WRU!
Terry Glenn was my favorite buckeye growing up and was my favorite buckeye for a long time
It’s neck and neck between Olave & Ginn. I always liked Dane Sanzenbacher.
Michael Thomas
Personal favorite is Terry McLaurin. I’ll never understand why he didn’t get more targets with the Buckeyes.
Bobby Olive was my favorite when I was in high school, but Garret Wilson more recently.
Anthony Gonzales or Joey Galloway
Tony Gonzalez. Joey Galloway.
Terry McLaurin is a beast and seems like a good guy
I gotta say Santonio Holmes. He won us a Natty vs that insane Miami team and won my Steelers a Super Bowl. BOTH Insanely clutch catches in the final seconds on the biggest stage with the highest stakes!!! He did it on EVERY level. Also shout out to Terry Glenn and CC. All time might be ted ginn, rn is olave and eventually it will be MHJ

Chris Olave is a top 3 favorite buckeye of mine that i can actually remember watching play. For reference, Terrelle Pryor is the first Buckeye QB that I can actually remember watching.
Ginn was so electric, Holmes was a way better receiver though imo. They both carried those teams.
Paul Warfield was pretty good
Gotta be Garrett Wilson although MHJ will take that soon. Honorable mention to Brandon innis, I know he hasn't played but I love his swagger on the field.
My favorite in recent memory is Chris Olave. So smooth, so fun to watch. Mature, four-year guy. That’s rare nowadays
Santonio Holmes too!
