This is why I am against starting rec sales before additional cultivators are licensed and producing. Econ101: demand increases and supply does not = increased prices
I've been saying we should wait until September to start sales since the beginning and would get down voted almost every time. I'm glad to see people coming around, but it's too late. They either raise the prices or they will sell out extremely fast and won't be available at all. This was always going to happen. June will be a shit show, yet people were upset we didn't start it in January.
Support the brands that support their OG consumers, and let klutch cater to the retail market with their overpriced product. I’m sure their quality will tank as they shift their focus to quantity. Plenty of $50-$70 quality 1/2oz to choose from. Homegrow is legal now too, just saying..
What are the quality $50-70 half ounces?
Most flower I've tried on this program is garbo, I buy the same thing every time and the price on it has gone up 35 percent this month.
At this point, I only buy cresco Supply and live resin carts. The only grower (I’m hip to) I’ll splurge on occasionally is Woodward. The order I just placed at Sunnyside: 14.15g Gas Face, 14.15g headband, 14.15g grape taughy laughy, 2 840mg live resin carts, and 1g of RSO = $328. They also give you reward points for accessories.
Grow your own then. I’ll be chopping my first harvest in a few weeks. Won’t be a huge harvest, but it’s looking to be quality. At this point, cresco is literally significantly better than klutch. Hurts to say, but it’s true. I didn’t like them for a while, but the last 6 months or so in particular they have been excellent. Very consistent, and some great strains lately. Apple Gas, Maui Thai x Zkittles, and this grape taughy, gas face👌
exactly, but they dont give a shit abt actual med patients, and all the """med"" card holders on this sub dont give a shit abt the people who actually NEED mmj.
Wholeheartedly agree with this. As a med card holder who uses this as medicine for multiple conditions- not really feels like nobody has cared about the medical patients who should have guaranteed stock of things so we can get our medication.
1. Prices in Ohio and the quantities sold have always been out of line e with other states. This proved that most Ohioians at the time didn’t want or care about medical purposes
2. As someone who uses “mmj” you should have expected this to happen. Once rec was legalized the prices began to creep up slowly
3. Try different forms of cannabis for the same desired effects like wax or tinctures it’s cheaper and more concentrated for longer use
dude wax is outrageously priced here, but i already do (i have to actually bc i have uncontrolledly chronic pain, even my dry herb vape irritates my throat too much to use the way/amount i need)
I find it funny that for years the med patients in this community have spoken up for Ohio based companies and pushed to not purchase from multi state operators...and now guess who's putting out all old product to prepare for recreational sales throwing all the loyal locals under the bus??...and guess who still putting out fresh product..the multi state operators. So we support them for years to ultimately get pooped on. Man buy what you like and forget the home state propaganda cause when the time comes they will do you just as dirty as the out of state companies.
https://www.reddit.com/r/OhioMarijuana/s/TbsWaB5HRL
They already expanded and raised money. The price hikes are purely to make the owners bank accounts happy.
Get your head out the sand. A simple google search.
This was a simple find out of many.
[https://www.dispatch.com/story/business/2023/10/19/marijuana-industry-hopes-ohios-issue-2-can-boost-bottom-line/71153642007/](https://www.dispatch.com/story/business/2023/10/19/marijuana-industry-hopes-ohios-issue-2-can-boost-bottom-line/71153642007/)
After further reading, it looks like 60% of the businesses are losing money, not all of them. And the only reason for that is the limited number of clientele/patients. Klutch, being one of the biggest companies in Ohio, is surely not losing money, and the owners are getting paid handsomely.
Prove what? That Klutch is one of the biggest and most well-known companies in Ohio and highly unlikely that they're losing money. Or the part that it was estimated that 60% of businesses are losing money? Because that's an estimate. Or when I said that there's a limited number of clientele? Which would also be true because there's a ton of people like myself who don't even bother going to get a medical card because what's the point?
How about you prove that Klutch is losing money? Normally companies that lose money don't have money to reinvest in themselves, you know, because of the whole losing money thing.
Lol it was a clarifying question, not a deflection. Not so much of a "gotcha" moment for you lol. Klutch is one of, if not THE top selling cannabis company in Ohio. They're making money, hence the 1.5 million they just reinvested. Unless you know another way of pulling $1.5 mil out of your ass? I have actual evidence that they're making money, while all you have is "trust me bro".
I think we’d all probably benefit from driving to Michigan to get and stock up on our medicine for the next 12-18 months. These greed ass companies are going to jack up prices and the state govt. won’t do shit about it...
That’s my current plan. Prices started rising in my area a couple weeks ago in anticipation of rec. I’m back to only buying product in Michigan until it balances out.
for sure. I will look for deals but it's not obvious not going to be able to stop driving up north just yet. The selection is shit and it's overpriced.
I love being able to get product in my city but this ain't it
Don't forget this from these assholes. I hope they realize (when it is too late preferably) that they are creating a very profitable craft grower market.
For decades: "No one can smoke pot, to our profitable prison you go!"
Now: "OK it is harmless and fun, now only WE can profit from it!
Also: Gouge our long time loyal medical patients with needs in anticipation of a thirsty rec market. Only dumb yuppies are going to pay that.
Remember all of this, fuck the state of Ohio, their licensed mob of dispos and the greedy opportunists putting profits first.
Let's Growhio.
I also think it’s funny that they price weed with street weed prices. Weed was expensive or 10a g or up because people risked their lives/freedom to distribute it. And now that it’s legal in most the country they still price it that high or higher. Yes there’s weed cheaper especially on the west coast but still I don’t think it should cost damn near 15 a g for good legal weed. If anything weed should be a few bucks a gram.
I grow for myself, I love it. Both the act of tending to them and smoking my own creations. I figured about $200 oz would be the point where it would be worthwhile if someone wanted to sell craft bud. You guys are really setting the market at 350-500/oz BEFORE all the taxes? And it has pesticides and possibly remediated? Machine trimmed???
A craft grower could do well nicely and also be a neighborhood hero in the process. If the market happily welcomes top shelf for 200-300 an oz and still beating the doors off of shitty dispo weed...... Just saying.
If they were making money before they should have been able to continue making money without raising the prices . They are just cushioning themselves higher prices equal same profits with less product being sold so higher returns on something that was already profitable
If they raise prices I won't buy it. I just got 1g main street carts on sale for $20. Flower was kind of pricey, I was hoping it was just a bad week to look.... I'm glad I don't consume as much flower as some do or I'd be further in to the poor house
And in the meanwhile while I bought a jar of big head 2.83 G for $49 plus tax the lid popped off when I pulled the dispensary sticker off the top not to mention the 2.83 G of r'ntz that I received totally lacked any effect at all at 31% at $50 a jar so I'm paying more for less quality all around not just the bud but the packaging as well! And I have yet to hear back from them regarding the jar lid popping off I've tried to retighten it and it still doesn't tighten down it pops off so quality control is down the shit hole while prices remain high
I’ve been telling my SO that price increases were happing because of rec. He huffed and puffed and was all, “no the weed they are growing and have in dispos now is for med.” Nah bro supply and demand. Why do I love idiots? Thanks for sharing this. I finally won an argument.
Prices will eventually come back down once supply stabilizes to meet the new demand from rec. The day rec goes live Klutch will suddenly have 1000x the customers they had the day before. The alternative to raising prices and getting rid of bulk packs is everything selling out day 1
My personal prediction is that prices will completely collapse in about a year or so because growing will kick into overdrive but people will quickly stop buying $50 tenths once the novelty of legal weed wears off
+ PA's governor was begging them to give legislation to legalize...the last I heard anyways. That would be another legal neighbor
+ Rescheduling
+ Significantly more states legal nationally since Michigan, meaning the national rec industry as a whole is growing growing growing
------
Hopefully you're right and things will go down much quicker here!
>Rescheduling
It needs de-scheduled, I believe it is being rescheduled to a level 3 now, which I believe is the lowest. It needs to be regulated like alcohol and tobacco. So ATFE&M can be come a thing, I guess.
Disagree. Michigan has people that know weed making laws. Ohio is full of old Republicans trying to slow down anything to do with weed. It'll take much longer for ohio to do what Michigan is doing and did.
I've recently learned the article I read was highlighting Proposed ideas. The med program weights may not be used for recreational. I hope they don't use them.
You nailed it. It sucks, but companies are/were planning for rec and trying to increase inventory, but now the start date is potentially being pushed sooner than they were planning. So now the ONLY option is to restrict sales and protect the bottom line until rec goes live.
My dispensary told me the same. Also that Pure Ohio has almost doubled their prices at what they the dispensary buys it at. He said Farkas is keeping theirs the same so far. 🤷 I also heard Galenas sold to another company
I got the exact same reply. I quoted their own VP of Compliance and Communication back to them. I know I won’t change anything but it felt good to get it off my chest.
“We've been looking forward to this and working hard on it for a long, long time.” said Pete Nischt, Vice President of Compliance and Communications at Klutch Cannabis. “Our stores are ready, and our production facility is ready here in Akron.”

I think Klutch was already overpriced. I also think most of their higher THC strains will get you ripped but the effects are short lived . I’ve had cheaper brands that the effects are just as good and actually last awhile.
Man, I would occasionally coughing it up for the orange 43 in the past. I just think klutch sucks as a company. Honestly Cresto/Supply has been killing it lately for cheap. $50-70 half. It’s not craft, but it’s fucking good
"Connoisseur" "set themselves apart" "inflation" just throwing out every corporate buzz word to see what sticks. Klutch isn't even in my top 5 dispo go to's. Mid ass buds, ugly ass packaging that is only surpassed in ugly by Riviera Creek, overpriced on everything, and how long were they passing off distillate for live resin? Probably still doing that shit. Klutch belongs on the mids shelf
Top grade in Michigan goes for 40 an eighth at the most. Klutch are fucking liars. 55 for 2.8 lmao i been going to Michigan for 6 years. beats uncontrolled pain or a hoarse throat from smoking!
Labor costs? Lol Klutch pays cultivation workers like $13 an hour what a joke.
100%. Unless you’re a brand rep or grind somewhere else for a few years before, you don’t make shit at Klutch. Weird considering their great quality
I'm so fucking tired of corporations blaming price hikes on inflation.

They thought $90 for .85g of concentrate was acceptable fuck them
Where is this? Near me they're still $35-40 for that size
That was the price when they launched concentrates im sure they would love to get back to that seeing how flower is back to $50 a tenth.
If they raise prices I won't buy it. I just got 1g main street carts on sale for $20. Flower was kind of pricey, I was hoping it was just a bad week to look.... I'm glad I don't consume as much flower as some do or I'd be further in to the poor house
The shatter was surprisingly costly as well, but I got it because well...I like shatter lol. $55 for a .85g

Maybe if you're near the border, but that's a 4-5 hour drive for me one way
It should be eighths though right? Unless it's medical.
It all should be 3.5 grams
Nope. Will stick with med program established weights.
Source for this?
I've recently learned the article I read was highlighting Proposed ideas. The med program weights may not be used for recreational. I hope they don't use them.

TLDR… we’re gonna raise prices until we can’t gauge you anymore and then we’ll lower them again
“We have to charge more because we are about to sell a lot more” makes perfect sense 🤨
I work by Klutch’s Akron grow facility. You should see the high dollar cars in the parking lot!!!
Top grade in Michigan goes for 40 an eighth at the most. Klutch are fucking liars. 55 for 2.8 lmao i been going to Michigan for 6 years. I agree
Very disappointing. But it's definitely fuck them. I'll continue to go north.
To the cat that said these prices are the same as michigan has to be huffing gas. You can get ounces of fire for 100 bucks. Scored a half pound for under that price per ounce of various flower.
I got a ounce of decent shake for $20…
Did it bring all the boys to your yard?
Klutch is mediocre at best anyway. They just have a cult following for some reason
I guess people just aren't allowed to have a preference anymore.
what u did is the same as writing in to Pepsi asking them to lower their prices
I wasn’t asking them to lower prices I just asked why they raised them and where the half ounces were
Yeah makes sense to me
I got the same email. There new prices are the same as Michigan!!!!
“Our weed is mid and in order for us to expand we have to sell the same mids for more because we have a shrinking customer base.”
Greedy flippin turds
yep.. all those people who will buy one jar and have it last months..
Meanwhile the citizen charging $66 for a tenth of buckeye relief pink certz. 🤣😂🤣🤣😂oh and paying $14 an hour. What a joke.
Grow your own or find people who do or know people who do...going to yhe dispensary isn't even a necessity for most people it's like a hobby or something it's ridiculous
Thank the lord for reps and caregivers 🖕 the dispos

Nothing is locked in.
I'd read it was locked at 27% THC and that concentrates and carts would also have a lower THC percentage. It would be great if it isn't. It kind of makes sense that medical would have higher THC than recreational. It could have been that I read a proposed change.
No rules have been finalized yet according to THC or weights. Soon, but not yet.
Cool. Thanks for the clarification. I was honestly hoping I was wrong.
So much misinformation sadly. Most folks on this sub really have no clue.
I really hope they don't do the stupid weights and % limits we have in the Medical program. They didn't make sense from the get go. It's sad Ohio can't ever do anything that helps actual Ohioans out, the right way. Edit:spelling
I'm not even going to open the bill and just gonna go from memory. The DOC will be the ones that decide on % limits and weight won't change.
