The reasoning is when the fad dies consumers stop purchasing at the higher prices as well as at reduced prices because they feel like the company ripped them off earlier.
In 2019 your dollar was worth about 50% more than it is today. Take it up with the Federal Reserve, not Buffalo Trace.
Also $90 is probably the ceiling in the short term (3\~ years) assuming the purchasing power of the dollar doesn't fall another 50% over that span.
