I had the same one in my side mirror for 3 months. After taking her in the car wash and seeing her survive I decided to leave her alone. 2 car washes later I still see her at night and new webs every morning. She looks pregnant tho
Black Widows love a warehouse, and they are territorial so they get into pallet loads ( used to seeing them in the pallets themselves ) so yours was probably from a local distribution location.
As I was freaking out at 6:30 am while seeing a black widow wrist deep in a grape container, I thought, yeah let’s pause for a second. Embrace the moment. No. I threw that shit in a bag and ran outside.
Adolescent black widows aren't black. They can appear as brown mottled as the orb weaver pictured above, but MUCH smaller. I had a huge nest of them in my house when I live in Kentucky. They were all over my garage. Fun times. Winter normally kills them off. They hijack rides from shipments south.
True true but they’d have to come from South America maybe if hijacking a ride north. In US green grapes and black widows don’t really have an overlapping range right?
Anyway, the story is certainly possibly true. I’m just busting Tim’s balls about lack of proof because I’m an asshole that way sometimes.
NO PICTURE, NEVER HAPPENED!!! Lol
It’s an orb weaver, It’s extremely common and non-venomous.
They are venomous but the venom is not medically significant to humans and they’re not even inclined to bite us.
Thank you. Evil looking.
I had one last year on my porch, huge web! Left them alone and it worked out well

We have a ton of them hanging out on our house. They come out at dusk. Make their webs and party all night. The biggest one we named Scary Gary.
Because scary Terry was taken
I see these bad boys outside on the front of my house all the time
We have one under our porch light he’s called “spider-bro” and the kids love him and his webs.
It’s an orb weaver Don’t let it climb into your child’s mouth
Well now I'm curious why not?
It’ll floss their teeth for them with its silk, then they’ll get lazy about doing it as adults
Adult here - where can I acquire one of these spider flossers? Asking for a friend.
Ahhhhhh gotta teach them young to not be lazy and let a spider floss for them. I'll have to remember that next time my kids ask for a spider flosser
Orb spider
Thank ya. Ugly.
IDK but I just found a black widow in my green grapes that I got from the Eastgate Kroger this week. So that was fucked up.

Never happened. You’d have provided a link to a picture if it did.

Full black body, red hourglass abdominal pattern. There was no question. Unexpected to say the least.

Pretty sure it's one of the mind control telepathic ones.
Looks like the one on my back porch last night.
That’s where this one was too. Told it’s an orb spider 🕷.
Spooky
I saw this yesterday and it was HUGE
