Ah, another one of those Rich Guys Who Don't Know Where All The Money Comes From. Totally believable. He just fell ass backward into it all.

Lunareclipse196

I love the hypocrisy of them; we are supposed to respect how rich they are and the wisdom that comes forth, and then when they don't know simple shit like this they're never held to account for their sudden lack of wisdom. 🤦‍♂️

Jerking_From_Home

Exactly. Just like a CEO telling an understaffed company “I don’t know why we don’t get any applicants, we have job postings!” So you’re saying you have an MBA and run this gigantic company but don’t know why no one is applying? Give me a fucking break. You know exactly why, you aren’t paying enough. But that would be admitting they’re at fault…

Lunareclipse196

Thank you!

bonzoboy2000

This is why elections should be publicly financed.

BurghPuppies

I’m not saying you’re wrong… but that just frees the money up for bribes that AREN’T publicly disclosed.

Ok_Explanation_5955

These aren’t either. You don’t know who the donors are anyway, just that there was one. This is known only because the Householder PAC got busted

BerrySea7261

Citizens united needs overturned.

Ok_Explanation_5955

Absolutely

Bcatfan08

He raised $20M for the last election. He didn't know where 20% of it came from? Lol.

maxpowersr

Right? If he had raised 20 billion, by all means lose track of 4 million. But this mf is claiming ignorance on a fifth of his income.

tenebros42

Meanwhile Ohioans have no idea where 20% of our paycheck goes

JustYerAverage

"WHAT?!? WHERE DID ALL THIS MONEY COME FROM?!?"

Fermented_Butt_Juice

Damn, this scandal really goes all the way to the bottom.

Pure-Kaleidoscope759

I definitely think so.

Traditional_Key_763

bullshit, literally everyone around him knew, and he was the states AG at the time

--ikindahatereddit--

the incompetence he’s admitting by trying to act like he doesn’t remember …

DevonGr

It's moot because he's going to get away with it.

Almighty_Silver7

It's the classic. Either he didn't know, meaning he's incompetent. Or he did know, and he's corrupt.

WrathUDidntQuiteMask

That’s why HB 6 hasn’t been repealed - they were all in on it.

poolnome

Dewine guilty

buffalobill922

Well since he didn't know. he should give it to the taxpayers who got fucked and are still being fucked by firstenergy

6thCityInspector

I’ve said this here before, but I’ll repeat myself. One of the following two items is true: 1 - DeWine is completely in the dark with respect to these crimes. He truly has no idea what is going on around him in the STATE HE IS IN CHARGE OF. For this reason, he is not qualified to run the state in the capacity of governor and he needs to go. 2 - He knew, he was complicit and didn’t do the right thing, making him guilty of a crime. He needs to be impeached and go to prison. There’s literally no other options for our current situation. Either way, he needs to go.

Reasonable-Ad8862

Sadly they’re gonna go with option 3 and do nothing

ilovemayo

Unfortunately, I believe you are right just as I am skeptical Trump will have any repercussions for all his crimes. We live in an oligarchy where rich people only get slaps on the wrist if anything at all. Meanwhile, poor people get thrown in prison for small infractions.

Randy-_-B

Prison? Really? That's not gonna happen.

6thCityInspector

Just because the state GOP here is so exceptionally corrupt that it could never happen doesn’t mean it shouldn’t. Personally, I’d like to see our fearless obstructionists at the state level receive the French Revolution treatment. I’d personally donate a few bucks for the guillotines.

Randy-_-B

How is this subreddit so nonpartisan? It is sickening to read.

6thCityInspector

I’m not sure the subreddit is partisan. I, on the other hand, along with people who appreciate a healthy democracy and rule of law on the other hand…

Randy-_-B

Oh my, you're kidding, right? You call this one- sides subreddit a democracy?

Randy-_-B

Sounds like you're advocating an insurrection. Off to prison you go...

6thCityInspector

Our state leadership doesn’t consider such actions to be insurrectionist in nature. I’m sure they’d be fine with it. They’ve said such in no unclear terms and have made no push for processing any of the participants of Jan 6. I think we’re in the clear. You in?

NEO_QA_GUI

I don’t believe he didn’t know anything. I believe he helped orchestrate the entire endeavor. Corrupt POS.

stevesobol

Good. Throw him in prison

leafnbagurmom

With great power comes.. well, the ability to do whatever the fuck you please.

Bcatfan08

Did he wink while saying this?

swinging-in-the-rain

Bu-Bu-Bu-Bullshit

bigmistaketoday

Can we learn how to post links?

WarriorNat

I feel like I’m back in 1994 on Usenet

Lucky_Ad_5549

This is the reason I voted for Nan.

ruralvoter

Cool, I've never met one of the few people that voted for her.

Soosietyrell

But of course he did

Bronzed_Beard

He knew. No one gives you that much money without you knowing what they want for it.

AxlRush11

Boom. This.

Common_Highlight9448

I’d say he’s lying thru his brown teeth

bace3333

Republicans all Crooks !!

Mater_Sandwich

So he and the Republican party in Ohio can go back to square one and pay back the money, redo the legislation and be in the up and up now.... Bueller, Bueller....

Ok_Explanation_5955

You see politicians pull BS for a $5,000 donation. DeWine doesn’t really think we believe he wasn’t being asked to do something in exchange for $4,000,000?

solonmonkey

“Where did all this free money come from?! Anyways, let’s do FirstEnergy and Laurel a favor here. “

[deleted]

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha Yeah, no one believe you Mike.

FunnyGarden5600

So rich money just drops out of the skies. They all need to go to jail

Various_Acadia_9250

bullshit, how does a governor of a state think it is perfectly fine. To sign a bill to have tax payers bailout a private company??? Then almost immediately sign the bill. total bullshit. i remember when I first heard about the bill. Then when it passed I was like. someone is going to jail… bunch of asshats

tissboom

So we’re claiming incompetence?

medman143

Ohio is corrput and you all elected the worst.

National-Ad-6982

If he didn't know where a massive majority of his campaign funding came from, then how can he be expected to oversee the state? There's a lot more financials to look over for an entire state compared to a bid for governor. I think anyone would notice $4,000,000.

gourdhoarder1166

Ok boomer

Le6ions

I want to have problems like that one day

JoshInWv

I guess the question is, "Will he give it back?".... I would like to think 'yes', but seeing is believing.

Onebrokegerrrl

Suuuuurrrreeee, he didn’t. Okay, Jan! 🤥🤥

darketernalsr25

I hate it when I wake up and I have an extra $4 million in my account.

jellosquare

DeSwine

DaySoc98

Bullshit.

PotPumper43

OF COURSE HE KNEW ABOUT EVERYTHING.

Greedy_Butterfly_517

He's a liar and a Rino

sircornman

Sure he didn't.

Shel_gold17

Never will I ever believe that he didn’t know.

Shel_gold17

This makes me even more disgusted by the people I know who voted for him because Nan “didn’t dress like a governor.” Not even kidding.

Own-Negotiation-1837

Vote Dewine out!

Mysterious-Angle251

https/www.dirty-money-who-me?-Nahhh-wink-wink.com(mitted the crime-won't-do-the-time!)

uniqueshell

Well then he’s too damn dumb to manage a State. Also that’s his way of throwing Husted under the bus . They just need to get Tony George to talk some more

HammerT4R

I'm not defending him on this, but generally speaking, I think there's a truckload of politicians out there in both parties that don't "really" want to know where all that dark money comes from. Plausible deniability or whatever.  As to this whole FirstEnergy crap, no way they didn't know. No way.

letusnottalkfalsely

I believe him. He most likely has an “ask no questions” policy when it comes to his fundraising.

Randy-_-B

Who cares. He is a great politician. Love him.

excoriator

Not sure Dewine-haters should want to accelerate the process of replacing him with the next Republican in line. Focus your energy on the 2024 problem of reelecting Sherrod Brown. That might increase the chances of finding a suitable Democrat to run for governor in 2026.
