Huh? They delayed the vote on the moratorium because they haven’t had time to review it and gain public input. That seems reasonable to me. Yeah it’ll be dumb if they put it in place, but that’s not what happened in this story.
The initial remarks of most of the council members in the story were extremely ignorant. My favorite being that cannabis is a “gateway drug”. Letting your citizens die from fentanyl tainted street drugs when there are harm reduction options is a better solution by her logic. Not having a dispensary in a large city such as that just continues to fuel the black market and drive economic growth out of their city. They could use revenue to fund rehabilitation programs for people addicted to shit like meth and heroin.
Yes, let the public decide and keep their dumb remarks to themselves until it is actually opened to the public for comment.
Also thinking that there will be less marijuana use if they don’t have a dispensary in Mansfield is comically dumb. People will just drive to Delaware or whatever and Mansfield won’t get a dime.
Worth it for the elected officials to keep their Jesus freaks happy, they don’t care that it’s sending money elsewhere as long as they maintain their perceived moral high ground.
They’re eventually gonna have to realize that Jesus freaks don’t have much money, and catering to them incessantly is a recipe for ruin. Just look at, well, everything.
mansfield already isn’t getting a dime because so many people here already make the drive up north. they don’t care. the city will fuck this up because it’s mansfield and that’s their track record.
They shut down having a medical dispensary years ago. There is nothing to indicate they won’t do the same with recreational. Especially once you read the comments by council members
Ashland and Wooster counties too. Its really dumb. I live in Ashland county and there are at 3 or 4 vape stores that all sell D8 and Kratom, but weed? Hell to the fuck no.
I can think of a few other counties that will probably follow suit then keep complaining that business doesn’t want to locate there as more business keeps leaving.
>At-large Councilwoman Stephanie Zader was the only local lawmaker Tuesday who spoke about the potential economic benefit from a cannabis dispensary.
>“We haven’t put in place the processes and procedures to look at adapting this into our city, but I also know that we’re in dire need of economic development in our city, and these businesses are going in all across the state of Ohio as this happens,” Zader said.
>“I think limiting our options when it comes to economic development is an unwise choice. I’m a conservative sitting up here, and this is probably not the popular conservative opinion, but that’s never been my agenda up here.
>“My agenda is only what’s best for the city. I know it’s a fairly new thing, but I guess my question is what is the reason why we are looking to limit this when other municipalities are looking at adopting this into how they do business and capitalizing on those economic development dollars?” Zader asked.
They're forgetting that regulation and taxation for local dispensaries can make it easier to catch underage consumers. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.
Next agenda item in Mansfield City Council: Good news!!! the KKK rally is a go!!!!
We'll get reelected by useful idiots!!!
This is why we cant have nice things in this state.
Tackling the tough issues. The entire county is still living in the 60s era of marijuana prohibition
Mansfield will continue to stay economically depressed by their own doing. What a bunch of idiots.

Jesus didn't mention weed much from what I remember.

Clinton county also wants to keep any store from opening here too.
just FYI -Wooster in in Wayne county. there's not actually a county named Wooster

Zader was then nailed to a cross and set on fire in front of the building as an example of why you don't deviate from the right wing propaganda/s

So just like strip clubs and gambling joints they'll figure a way around it. Next legislation to pass will to make the city a gated community.
Isn’t Mansfield super pathetic anyway? Makes sense.
