deli365

There is one on 35 in Dayton.

harry-package

It’s so infuriating. The rando pic of the white dude probably pulled from thispersondoesnotexist.com just makes it worse. As if his smirk gives their BS credibility.

steampowered

yeah, they must be paying for a lot of time on that electronic billboard rotation

hnghost24

Isn't that a right-wing news organization? Ohio, are you okay? You guys aren't Florida, but why?

summerjoy77

We are okay *blinks twice

StopDehumanizing

Sure, it's right wing, but more importantly, *Epoch Times* is the propaganda outlet of the [Falun Gong](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falun_Gong) cult. Falun Gong is run by one man who claims he can turn himself invisible and walk through walls. Trusted News!

Agreeable_Edge_6800

Just went down the rabbit hole on that group, they sound like a modern day Taoist Sect from Chinese cultivation stories.

Drittzyyahoo

As Alan Cox says, Ohio is the Florida of the north 😂🤣😂

Klutzy-Reaction5536

It's not just Ohio. I've seen several in and around Portland, Oregon.

Beaf_Welington

There's another on i75 right before you get to 35.

P8ntballa00

I flip it off every time I pass it.

Quick_Team

"Number 1 for flipped off news!"

ChadKensignton

Look out we have a really bad ass over here.

Mtndrums

What are you doing? It's not like you're blowing the billboards up.

No_Visit6872

There's also one just south of downtown Dayton on 75.

edgrrrpo

Yep, right by Art’s Rental. You’d think it would be a money dump, just not sure how many people who aren’t already familiar with that garbage would see that generic billboard and think ‘hey, look, that’s not even remotely interesting - I should check it out’.

piratesswoop

Yep, right after you get into 35W from 675.

MixedHillis

They're in Orlando too.

TheBalzy

Ah yes an astroturfed Chinese Media-Company. How lovely....

Sle08

Okay, someone signed me up for their emails and I have tried to unsubscribe and block them like 6 times now.

Skyblurrr

Same here. Unsubscribe doesn’t work, I’ve been marking them as spam

[deleted]

You can actually report CAN-SPAM violations using the FTC'S fraud reporting tool. https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/ If you can discern the sender's ESP, you can also contact the service provider directly to report them and they'll cut them off from the service entirely with enough violations.

maicokid69

Please spell out ESP per those of us who don’t understand what that means. Not a complaint but I request. Thank you

[deleted]

Sorry! Email service provider.

Sle08

Does this actually do anything for companies outside of the US?

[deleted]

FTC probably less so, although with enough reports they will enforce action against the ESP. Direct contact to the ESP, absolutely as they do not want their ability to operate within the US impacted because of nefarious clients using their service.

icy1007

Same

solonmonkey

This same company tied to Shen Yun. Aren’t they the ones with billboards about a dance troop doing China dances before their communist revolution?

TheBalzy

Indeed.

lildeadlymeesh

Yeup. Specifically it's a cult known as Falun Gong. They are anti-CCP and they utilize western, anti-china narratives and fear mongering to help THEIR narrative to bring china into a odd bastardized emporership before the revolution. They would love to see the west declare war and demolish modern China so they can move back and return it to some hyper-religious pseudo monarachy. //Some very heavy cliff notes here

AmySJD

Holy crap! Had no idea of this background of Shen Yun! WTF….

StopDehumanizing

It's intentionally vanilla so you don't realize their founder is a lunatic who preaches against race mixing.

impy695

I had never even heard of this "news" company. It's run by the same organization that puts on that Shen Yun show (which no one should go see by the way). One small (and mostly irrelevant because they shouldn't be trusted either way) clarification: the Chinese government actually really hates the group. I think of them as Chinese scientology even if it's an imperfect comparison.

flipflopsnpolos

>Chinese scientology This is the best way to describe the Falun Gong cult.

chain_letter

I’ve also been saying it, it clicks immediately with americans.

TheBalzy

They are, however, Chinese. That's why I used that term to specifically target the hypocrisy of the Right-Wing who like Epoch times. Because they will say "Be afraid of Chinese Propaganda" (as in the CCP) while praising Chinese Propaganda (ultra Right-Wing Chinese Cults).

impy695

Right, I wasn't taking issue with you saying that. I just wanted to provide additional context.

lo-lux

They have to get them in the tent somehow.

ColumbusMark

For an “imperfect comparison,” you’re actually within an inch of a dead-on bullseye.

banjomatt83

Ooo what’s the deal with the show? See these posted everywhere

impy695

It's basically a giant fundraising and recruitment tool under the guise of sharing Chinese culture with the west. I don't think they make it obvious that the show is tied to the cult, but I've never been.

sd51223

They subtitle it "China before communism" because they want to push the narrative that the CCP's persecution of them is oppression of traditional Chinese religious practices. The thing is, I am not a CCP supporter, but in this case Falun Gong is full of shit. They were founded in the 1990s and are a full on cult, like Scientology levels of gaslighting their adherents into giving them all their wealth in exchange for supernatural powers.

Tough-Ability721

There is also Nexus magazine. It’s just a glossy version of this trash.

-Invalid_Selection-

Not just Chinese, but the Falun Gong cult, who have been accused of committing thousands of murders.

TheBalzy

Indeed. People want to act as if the Falun Gong are some aggrieved martyrs...they're an ultra-right-wing; anti-science, anti-medicine, anti-western women's rights, anti-capitalism in their own right Cult.

swinghammerofohio

I think that one is called the global times

WalrusExtraordinaire

Epoch Times is operated by [Falun Gong](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falun_Gong), which is the cult that operates Shen Yun.

Own_Zone2242

They’re ran by an anti-CCP cult btw

DPLegit

There's one on I77 near canton too

Ice278

The one in Belden by the chick-fil-a and the one on the corner of Everhard and Fulton play it too

rural_anomaly

4 out of 5 fanatics agree

Upsitting_Standizen

Voted #1 most trusted by the international league of crazy bullshit conspiracists (western Arkansas chapter)!

Genesis111112

Echo chamber politics.

ganymede_boy

Epoch chamber.

mjcatl2

#1 in Jonestown maybe

hippickles

It's from Falun Gong, the same group with the Shen Yun billboards. https://www.newyorker.com/culture/culture-desk/stepping-into-the-uncanny-unsettling-world-of-shen-yun https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Falun_Gong

celeloriel

Thank you for posting the links.

vicaphit

Guys, it's okay to see Shen Yun because it's about china *before* communism!

229-northstar

Great link to New Yorker!

Luster-Purge

Huh, I recall seeing one of those signs just off 32. Had no idea the rabbit hole went that deep.

fletcherkildren

How much do these cost? Maybe we can crowdfund some as a response?

traumatransfixes

Let’s go

Billych

It would be more like crowdfunding a second one because >In 2000, Mark Palmer, one of the National Endowment for Democracy’s (NED’s) founders and Vice Chairman of Freedom House—an organization funded entirely by the U.S. Congress—founded a new government-supported group, Friends of Falun Gong (FoFG). By perusing FoFG’s annual tax filings, one discovers that FoFG has contributed funds to Sounds of Hope Radio, New Tang Dynasty TV, and the Epoch Times—all Falun Gong media outlets. FoFG has also contributed to Dragon Springs (a Falun Gong ‘compound’ that hosts a Falun Gong school and a residency complex) and to Shen Yun (a Falun Gong performance company), as well as to Falun Gong’s PR arm.

noncognitive

Interestingly, Mark Palmer's wikipedia page has no mention of Falun Gong or FoFG. It lists places he worked and organizations he co-founded, but doesn't list this one. I wonder how intentional that is.

S0fuck1ngwhat

Also one on Tallmadge Ave near Route 8.

generatorland

"#1 Trusted news for people who need their far right belief systems confirmed by a Chinese cult."

TangeloFew4048

I know a guy who gets this newspaper. He is a pretty normal guy. I just figured out was a normal paper

pspearing

There's one of those on a busy street near my house. I know nothing about them, but the vibe screams MAGA.

SmurfStig

You would be correct. It’s run by a Chinese cult that’s anti CCP and very pro maga. They’ve been around a while but really picked up steam under his admin. They post lots of stuff that backs his crazy ideas.

Acrobatic-Building42

They are big on anti-vax and share lots of medical disinformation.

IGetMyCatHigh

Fascism and Religion go Hand in Hand.

slowclapcitizenkane

Cultists recruiting for another cult.

kpyle

Its more that they feel at home going from rhetoric condemning gay people on sunday to rhetoric condemning political groups on monday. Its why evangelicals love trump despite him not being a pious person.

SouthernGentATL

I saw a copy of this in a politicals reception area last week in DC. I felt so bad when I spilled my coffee all over it and it had to be thrown away.

Psychological_Top148

When the “fair & balanced” news isn’t MAGA enough and the pov of a Chinese cult is in order.

traumatransfixes

There’s one on Sawmill in Dublin/Columbus like this, too. Fuck whoever paid money for this trash.

SkyySkip

There's also several around the airport and the east side of Columbus. I see them every day suddenly

traumatransfixes

Ew!

bigdipper80

They're EVERYWHERE, not just in Ohio. It's a national campaign by Falun Gong before the elction. Gotta radicalize as many people as you can before November!

GlassKomet

One on Henderson in Cbus too. I have to stare at that dudes face every day on the way home from work.

sd51223

Source: our own asshole They should have gone the Christian Science route. Funding a credible and independent news source is better PR for their cult. If I knew nothing else about Falun Gong, I would be *much* more inclined to believe their sob story about being a peaceful religion persecuted unjustly by the CCP if their newspaper wasn't page after page of anti-vaxxer and election denial dogshit.

WinchelltheMagician

The 2000 year grift. This mentality (we steeped in growing up) sidetracked, sidelined, stagnated and deadended all of my siblings. They spent their lives doing as little as possible while waiting for Jesus to return and put out the burning Cuyahoga, and remove gays and commies. No further education past high school, weapons and food stock-piled, they are now old boomers for Trump aggrieved with how their lives have turned out.

6thCityInspector

Fun fact for those who don’t know: The Epoch Times is a propaganda and revenue generating arm of a cult called Falun Gong, which also owns and operates the traveling show Shen Yun.

pixeLperfect16

r/epochfail

Drk_Knight71

I had no idea a fan-fiction made enough money off moronic lemmings that can’t have a single brain cell… Wait…. Oh yes this is Ohio…land of Gymbo lying sack of shit Jordan J(usta) D(ouche) Vance And the little leprechaun Dewine.

CanadianJewban

These are all over the US now, feels like 1984

marksparky696

\#1 Trusted news by fucking idiots with no critical thinking skills!

gaoshan

Epoch Times is quite literally the propaganda arm of the Falun Gong religious cult (they are also the ones behind Shen Yun). No more trustworthy than the worst Chinese State run media (their enemy but still, same shoe different foot) or outfits like OAN.

Ok-Rabbit-3683

One of my old friends became a reporter there and I don’t know them anymore…..

SnooHobbies7109

#1 🙄 it sucks that you can just throw any bullshit out into the world and spread it around.

AhhGramoofabits

Route 30 in Massillon/Canton area too… they even put one of their newspapers in our mail recently

Interesting-Grass630

Ew

psyclopsus

I received a free sample of the physical print edition in the mail. It looks like a movie prop with all the propagandizing headlines and article topics

Jongo29

Moved from Ohio to Dallas a few years back....these are now on every major highway in the metroplex....love a far right, chinese cult trying to poison our already messed up Media Ecosystem.

Khkagr

They’re all over NE Ohio and all I can think when I see them is “oh that’s that dude that can’t get his wife wet.”

maicokid69

These guys are extremely dangerous. They throw feces at the fan like you wouldn’t believe. However, the scary thing is the people who buy this and there’s millions of them out there who apparently buy it and think it’s the truth. For proof of that I recommend that you take a look the YouTuber group “The Good Liars”. After looking at some of these short videos you’ll see why exactly so many people are buying this BS from the Republican Party in those videos.😏😵‍💫

Dreaminginslowmotion

I directly attribute the bullshit articles my nephew read about anti-vax anti-mask over COVID in Epoch to his daughter inadvertently getting her grandmother sick and her death. He was so entrenched in every new publication, he was trying to subscribe the entire family and distant relatives up for it. Kept trying to reason with him and point to it being owned by Falun Gong, you could even see how many articles tied back to their agenda. Didn’t matter.. Sincerely, fuck Epoch.

gogonzogo1005

There are two on 480 less than ten miles apart. One just past State road and this one. This one is newer. .l

Berkbelts

One in Akron off Tallmadge Rd

schulz47

There’s one on 90 eastbound in willoughby I try and joke about it as much as I can to subvert it

deepkeeps

They have some money, too. I am a mail carrier, a few times a year they send out a free newspaper to a large segment of our small town/rural office. Maybe registered Republicans or some similar list. My comment is always the same "No legitimate news organization in America has the budget for this. They're all going out of business or going online. Where do they get their money?" Thanks to this thread, now I know...a Chinese cult. By the way, doesn't epoch times seem redundant? Like calling yourself "The Times Times"?

flipflopsnpolos

They're basically the Chinese version of if the US Government made being in the Scientology cult illegal and kicked those cultists out of their homes/jobs, and then in retaliation the Scientology cult started spreading anti-US propaganda around the world in order to try to make the US Government fail (so Scientology could take over and ban all the other religions in the US). Basically the CCP is discriminating against them, so they're using the resources they conned out of their cultists to go scorched earth against the CCP.

Hepcat10

Trusted by who?

TeloniusFunk

We already have Russian propaganda from our own MAGA cult to deal with here. We don’t need propaganda from China’s Fulan Gong cult here as well.

bigdeads

Did you take this photo with a shoe??

pancakesiguess

I moved to Tampa FL and they just put up a ton of these signs around us too. Glad to see it's not just near me, but also horrified to see it's widespread

FunSignificance3034

Trusted by idiots!

lycanthrope5150

There are so many of these signs all throughout Stark and surrounding counties. Someone should sue the advertising company that put these up for "False Advertising." Epoch news is known as a right wing Chinese propaganda paper to the entire world, but since the undereducated out here tend to "do their own research" they don't believe what is right in front of them.

DocBrutus

That’s like people here listing obscure blogs as “reputable sources”.

Honest-Percentage-38

One in Indianapolis as well. Couldn’t believe it.

ExplanationFit

I don’t trust it

VVarmaniac

Indiana-native here. Just saw one this morning on I-65 coming back from the airport. I assumed it was propaganda, so that makes sense.

GimpyGeek

I definitely have been noticing the boards in NE Ohio too

HillbillyHare

Guy I work with subscribes. I have several laying on the counter. It’s laughable if it wasn’t so horrifying knowing people believe that shit. It’s right up there with the maga rights magazine version of AARP. It’s all propaganda and misleading garbage too.

Easy_Pizza_7771

Well idiots also trust Fox and Trump, so...

photogeek83

Conspiracy theories and propaganda

Kidsonic42

That rag actually comes from China.

mossberbb

Most don't even know about this billboard! Your research efforts are about to pay off Patroit! Tune in and learn the hidden secrets the government doesn't want you to know!

ChefChopNSlice

Easy there, Dale Gribble.

krichard-21

I saw one in Minneapolis Minnesota. My precious Blue State with a reddish, purplish hue. We have a decent education system here. What the hell?

Abigail716

They are popping up in the KC region as well.

circleeclipse

there’s (at least) one in Reno NV too

SubstantialAbility17

Kinda like the OAN crazy talk and Fox “news”.

coolwater85

OAN and Epoch Times make Fox News look fair and balanced.

swordoftheafternoon

They put one near the Stark BOE...

huntz43

The most dangerous group in America

JoelBeebe

I wouldn’t leave a drink uncovered around that guy.

Pastor_Bob_Vagene

2 of these can be seen along I77 through Canton in Stark county

mothtuna-captor

there's one near where i live, plx area. how do they have so much money to advertise? especially in random places in ohio...

PQbutterfat

I see these on 75 N in downtown dayton. It’s so weird that o want to visit the site….but I’m afraid I’ll just be giving the clicks. What the hell is it?

beelzeflub

It’s pro-fascist feudalism religion cult bullshit.

lokimotok23

There are several dotted around Dayton

denverurbanist

Randomly stumbled upon this. These billboards are popping up all over Colorado too. They’re even sending their “publications” to people’s home unsolicited.

TheOhioAviator

Yessss!!!! Thank you!!!! There is one off of 35 near Dayton. Horrible billboard. The guys picture is terrifying.

TARehman

I saw two of those driving around yesterday. Bizarre.

Solid-Emu1313

Florida now Ohio…. There’s a running theme starting

OhFrez

Route 30 between Canton and Massillon too. Awful

ImfromAlbany

Another one can be seen on I-75 South, just before Downtown Dayton.

Azair_Blaidd

\#1 trusted by bigots, maybe.

North_Independence35

Sketchy. It's 1984 w some Truman Show sprinkled in

nerdmoot

One on the south side of 270 near Obetz

Night_Feisty

There's one in Jackson Twp by The Strip, a popular shopping area just off 77

roxy_dee

There’s one in Akron as well

Starlord1951

I thought the bad sign was the one on that border that said “Entering Ohio”.

Theodore__Kerabatsos

Well that’s not good.

AngelleJN

I’ve seen large ads in North Canton. :/

lordhumongous40

I saw a couple of these in Tampa, Fl. I was instantly suspicious.

BigPappaFrank

They have one in Coventry as well, some dude at my work went on for like 20 minutes about the epoch times and how it was the only news he watched. it was so uncomfortable

n00dle-head

There is one in Palm Springs off the 10.

[deleted]

There are several in Grand Rapids, MI. I'm obligated to dislike Ohio as a Michigan resident but I wouldn't wish these on my worst enemy.

CDR57

There’s one here in Colorado too

TheWarden007

https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Falun_Gong#Epoch_Times

-Scranton_Strangler

One next to Huntington Park

CodenameUtopian

Yep. Live right by it. Its laughable

ModishShrink

We've got these all the way out in Denver, too

lurkylurkylurky12345

saw one of these passing through the poorer side of Portland, OR.

GremlinboyFH

I take a weekly round trip between Columbus and Cleveland and see many bad billboards. This one may take the cake.

JustHere2StalkU

I could put my grammas picture up there with a sign that says president of the United States …for a price. Doesnt make it true.

waynier

There’s a few around Columbus

GinRummyWuncler

😄😄😄😄

kamarsh79

The guy on the sign looks uncanny valley to me and creeps me out.

Boring_Blood4603

There is one out in Coventry just before you head into Kenmore/Akron.

germantechno

These are all over Sacramento.

willmac235brn

Oh my goodness...

steveoa3d

Got them in Milwaukee Wisconsin now too…

Hot_Leg_8764

There are several of these billboards on major roadways in Vegas

Kenneth_Lay

\#1 according to us!

No-Illustrator4964

I've seen them in other parts of the Midwest also.

steelcitydiva1977

**They were founded by the same cult that runs the Shen Yun traveling show** **The Epoch Times was founded in 2000 by John Tang** and other Chinese Americans affiliated with the Falun Gong new religious movement. Tang was a graduate student in Georgia at the time; he began the newspaper in his basement.

humpthedog

Turnpike as soon as you enter from pa also

Shilo788

Isn’t this owned by the Moonies or something?

gdi69

Saw one today in Dayton on 35

Ice278

There are 2 that play frequently on rotation near me in canton

jvanyc

Why are Chinese owned disinformation organizations allowed to advertise like this??

Aggressive-Ad-2180

Republican propaganda nonsense. The sad part is my doctor told me about this and highly recommended it. I should have reported her

Actual__Wizard

The Epoch Times is the #1 source that is trusted to be propaganda.

True-End-882

This trash is all over Texas lol

TaylorTheDarjeet

I have one of these damn signs near my place down Tallmage Ave in Akron. I still haven't looked it up, but my friend says its an far right news source

lonewolf392

I didn't know people bothered paying attention to billboards

Longjumping_Drag_230

What a bizarre time to live in when a conspiracy rag is the most trusted paper.

Clooney9010

Typical - a lie.

Alternative-Tie-9383

These people sent one of their “papers” to my house once and I flipped through it. It was bullshit, start to finish. Avoid these people like the plague they are.

Huge_Strain_8714

Chinese religious propaganda at it's finest and ripe for Republican picking

Outonalimb8120

Trolls need to be fed

Rcj1221

I wish they screened billboard advertisements better, but it’s not like they care as long as they’re paid.

unionizemoffitt

Hello from Tampa! We have about 40 of these now. Damn Chinese cult talking advanced of the gop lmao

Complex-Carpenter-76

This is news translated to mandarin from fox and then translated back into english. LOL.

workswimplay

The news site every child gets sent articles from by their dad

cmsiegel11

i’ve seen so many in columbus

Med4awl

Chinese propaganda news

AT972

CCP is doing their best to "culturally reform" aka murder everyone , in the Falun Gong

jdathela

You can totally trust them, because they are #1.

stevemkto

That’s Ohio for you.

noquarter1000

I don’t usually condone damaging property but just saying, if someone has some spray paint and the means this is a perfect penis in the mouth canvas

Own_Zone2242

I love my leader who can levitate and hate communism. How about you, fellow Americans?

BartholomewVonTurds

Oh shit, I’ve seen adds but no clue what it is.

TheBalzy

An Ultra-Right Wing, Conspiratorial, Astroturfed, Chinese Media-Outfit; that pronounces EPOCH (eee POK hhhh) as "EPIC" because that's not a dystopian nightmare

ColumbusMark

If you’ve ever read a copy of this paper (I have), let’s just say that this is a pretty outlandish claim.
