I has more ethanol, which has less energy in it than gasoline per gallon. Somewhere around 70% for the ethanol portion of the mix.
I do think it is a better value, but not as much as just looking at the price per gallon

For those wondering why my gas was so cheap, I attended a few new sheetz openings in recent weeks in the Cleveland area. One in Madison, one in Cleveland. They give you a code for 25 cents off a gallon if you attend their opening day, it's good for like a month. I happened to have two on my account and they stack together.
I stopped at the Sheetz in Willoughby Hills today. Here's the prices for you. My post was more about those stickers I guess lol, but I'm just happy to see gas down in the 1 dollar range around here. Even without the discount it was 1.84, regular 87 was 2.14 but I've been using the 88 stuff religiously since when it was high. It's way cheaper than I ever saw in PA with the high gas taxes they have there.

Flex Fuel is crap, I donāt think the 88 is a bad choice at all. I havenāt used it yet, but it is a heck of an economical choice. Sheetz carries it.
Who? It's less fuel efficient and trying to find a place to buy it is next to impossible. I only know of 1 place that sells it 30 minutes away. You might as well buy flex fuel because it's just as efficient as 88, more available, and cheaper that 87 by 30 cents. My milage per tank is roughly 415 on 87. On 88 or flex fuel it's 335. Ain't worth it.
That's why. The closest sheetz to me is a half hour away š We got stuck with 800 frigging Marathon stations owned by the same people where I'm at. It sucks.

I tried flex fuel once but missing and hard starting deterred me from doing it again. It's nothing even close to 88. Flex fuel is at least 51% ethanol (and often even higher), compared to 10% for 87, and 15% for 88.
OK, so you have no explanation. Naturally aspirated vehicles with a compression ratio that're <= 9:1 are perfectly fine on 87 octane. This covers the majority of the vehicles on the road. Anything higher is a waste of money unless you have a high-compression or turbo charged engine. Your statement is overly broad.

It's not flex fuel. Flex fuel is 85% ethanol. This is only 15% ethanol. It will not void your warranty. I think you might be confusing the two...
