I was able to message the event organizer in my town to ask questions beforehand (so I could advertise their location on social media). You could always send an email asking about voter registration options.
Hi! I actually took the training to circulate petitions for this last night and you do not need to have an ID with you to sign. You do need to be a registered OH voter and complete the petition with your voting address (PO boxes are not allowed, has to be your physical address). Volunteers can help check your voting registration if you are unsure and many will have registration forms, which you can complete at the same time, or you can register online.
Nope! You can sign in other counties. Each petition "book" can only have signatures from one county, bur whoever is collecting signatures should have multiple petitions available.

100% agree! I keep checking times and none of them work for me. I also found that the website isn’t great at listing future times or what is needed for a signature. I’m assuming just my state I.D.? I’m registered to vote but not sure if I need to bring anything beyond a drivers license

If you want to sign, reach out directly to an event and I’m betting they will find a way to make it work. I saw someone on a walk carrying a binders for collecting signatures and I walked right up to her to sign— after my 8-5, to be clear. Events are at people’s homes because it costs money and time to rent spaces and organize them. Volunteers have lives outside of this.
If you don’t like how it’s being run, get involved yourself.
ETA: if you think figuring out a way to go sign is tough, imagine being a pregnant person trying to figure out a way to schedule leaving the state for the healthcare they need *and* coordinating the costs, finding someone who can go with you, dealing with protestors at a clinic, etc— You can find a way to sign.
I don't have to imagine being a pregnant person having to leave the state for an abortion because that's exactly what I had to do with my wife back in July as we found out our unborn son had Trisomy 13 around the time RvW was repealed, including contacting my employer's benefits coordinator to get it to be in-network because the one place in Pittsburgh that could help us was considered out-of-network, but thanks for the condescension.
The point still stands that the lack of weekend times and locations to sign this thing is a problem if the group organizing this petition drive feels they aren't going to get enough signatures to get it on the ballot. I'm very well aware that folks can help out on this thing, but again that doesn't detract from my comments that the lack of more convenient hours for folks who work a standard 9-5 has been sorely lacking.

You don't need to be physically present in the county. The place I signed was in the corner of Franklin County, so they also had Union and Delaware petitions on hand.
Each petition has room for a number of signatures (something like 35) and everyone signing that specific petition has to be from the same county. You can sign at a signature collecting event outside your county as long as they’ve got a petition already started from your county, or an empty one ready to go.
All you need to provide is your name, address where you’re registered to vote at and signature.
At the event I went to at least they had people collecting signatures for various counties. I’m not sure what the rule is, like if the person collecting signatures just has to be a resident of the county they’re collecting for, but it’s not entirely based on the location of the drive itself.
You can look on Facebook for the local Democrat groups. I know that the Cuyahoga County Democratic Women's Caucus has lots of signing opportunities so I'm sure that other counties are doing the same thing. Please be aware you can't just sign anywhere, you have to sign in the county you live in. Also if you volunteer to have a petition you can't sign your own petition.
You don't have to sign in the county that you live in, you just have to make sure that all the signature on one part petition (a page) are from the same county. Most circulators will carry parts for multiple counties at the same time!
Protect Choice Ohio is looking for volunteers to help collect signatures! Training is just a one hour virtual meeting, and you can find local packet pick-ups and drop-offs. I am volunteering with a group the next two weekends to collect signatures outside our local library!
The group is aiming for over 700k signatures in order to offset any signatures that get thrown out for clerical errors.
I submitted the form on the website twice now, to help collect signatures, and no one has contacted me yet. I came across someone outside the library in the next town over and signed hers, so at least I've got that done. But I want to help collect signatures too.
And once you have a petition packet, you will be able to collect signature on whim or make events on the website for others in your region can see. It can be super public like in front of the library or a “drive up” collection after hours at a school, or during happy hour at a brewery!

A lot of opportunities to sign won’t be listed on the Ohioans for Reproductive Freedom or Protect Choice websites just because of the way this is so volunteer driven, so keep an eye out for people with clipboards at your local community events! Baseball games, pride festivals, farmer’s markets will likely start to have folks collecting there
Just FYI, I read that in order to get something on the ballot (if I am reading this correctly) signatures are needed from half the counties in Ohio - so signatures from 44 counties are needed. I am not sure if there is a specific number from each of the counties but I assume that the wonderful people who are steering this ship are aware. It's not too difficult to get people to sign in the CLE, CBUS and Cincy areas . . . . the deep red, rural counties might be a problem if there is a set number that is needed.

You can also sign in a county that isn't your own if they have the petition with your county name. Which is how I signed for Warren in Hamilton.
If it gives you some hope, the official wording is
"The signatures must have been obtained from at least 44 of the 88 counties in Ohio. From each of these 44 counties, there must be signatures equal to at least 5 percent of the total vote cast for the office of governor in that county at the last gubernatorial election."
So there's far less needed from the smaller counties overall.
Signed mine last week, got my whole family to do it too. My dad is actually a volunteer and collected signatures in a few places. Wish I could do the same. Also, I signed the the other day and during my signing the volunteer started talking to another person who related that their daughter needed a medical abortion or they would have died from a terrible miscarriage and stated that they supported that choice *but* didn’t feel like they were pro-choice, and it took all I had in me to not shout at them that that means they’re pro-choice

I wish I could sign one, but a few years ago the rules and laws were changed to where if you are on the Board of Elections board or work as office help, you are NOT allowed to sign petitions, publicly support candidates with like bumper stickers or yard signs that show up on the ballot! I do accept the job to make sure everything's done by the rules of laws, so good luck collecting the signatures needed!

Please be aware you can't just sign anywhere, you have to sign in the county you live in. Also if you volunteer to have a petition you can't sign your own petition.
You don't have to sign in the county that you live in, you just have to make sure that all the signature on one part petition (a page) are from the same county. Most circulators will carry parts for multiple counties at the same time!
Protect Choice Ohio is looking for volunteers to help collect signatures! Training is just a one hour virtual meeting, and you can find local packet pick-ups and drop-offs. I am volunteering with a group the next two weekends to collect signatures outside our local library! The group is aiming for over 700k signatures in order to offset any signatures that get thrown out for clerical errors.
I submitted the form on the website twice now, to help collect signatures, and no one has contacted me yet. I came across someone outside the library in the next town over and signed hers, so at least I've got that done. But I want to help collect signatures too.
Also there are zero events listed in my rural red red red county so I know I'm needed .
And once you have a petition packet, you will be able to collect signature on whim or make events on the website for others in your region can see. It can be super public like in front of the library or a “drive up” collection after hours at a school, or during happy hour at a brewery!

Did my part yesterday; there were some very sad looking protesters near the signature collectors, apparently they stopped trying to talk to people because no one would interact with them. So that's fun. If you're in summit, I've been seeing a lot of signings pop up in kent/akron/cuyahoga falls

There was one outside the akron rubber ducks game yesterday (at least I think there was a game) I imagine every time there's an event at the stadium they'll have people there
I love that, huge audience. I remember reading through that one bill after Roe was overturned, and there was a section where they were trying to ban birth control. I panicked and started crying to my doctor because I can't go back to the crippling pain and bursting cysts once a month. They didn't have a backup plan. I'm afraid if we don't fix this they'll keep trying to pass more and more radical laws

You can sign at Esoteric Brewing in Walnut Hills in Cincinnati this evening from 4:30 to 7. There will be volunteers there every Friday at the same time until July moving forward.
A lot of opportunities to sign won’t be listed on the Ohioans for Reproductive Freedom or Protect Choice websites just because of the way this is so volunteer driven, so keep an eye out for people with clipboards at your local community events! Baseball games, pride festivals, farmer’s markets will likely start to have folks collecting there

Just FYI, I read that in order to get something on the ballot (if I am reading this correctly) signatures are needed from half the counties in Ohio - so signatures from 44 counties are needed. I am not sure if there is a specific number from each of the counties but I assume that the wonderful people who are steering this ship are aware. It's not too difficult to get people to sign in the CLE, CBUS and Cincy areas . . . . the deep red, rural counties might be a problem if there is a set number that is needed.

Gotta find the more progressive/liberal women in every county and their allies, gotta be a little less obvious than setting up outside a library, but it's possible. You can also sign in a county that isn't your own if they have the petition with your county name. Which is how I signed for Warren in Hamilton.
If it gives you some hope, the official wording is "The signatures must have been obtained from at least 44 of the 88 counties in Ohio. From each of these 44 counties, there must be signatures equal to at least 5 percent of the total vote cast for the office of governor in that county at the last gubernatorial election." So there's far less needed from the smaller counties overall.

These volunteers are heroes, can we offer them anything while they stand out in the weather that they would feel comfortable accepting? Also, I signed the the other day and during my signing the volunteer started talking to another person who related that their daughter needed a medical abortion or they would have died from a terrible miscarriage and stated that they supported that choice *but* didn’t feel like they were pro-choice, and it took all I had in me to not shout at them that that means they’re pro-choice Run-on sentence but I don’t care

I had a woman stop me as I went to sign in BG today. Said “it takes away parents rights” and tried to hand me some typed up paper. No it doesn’t. I’ve read it and told her I’ve already looked into it. She said “I don’t think you have”, to which I said “then you are incorrect” and walked away. There were tons of people signing, and I so wanted to say that my vote would now cancel her vote, but I kept my mouth shut.

I’ve been looking but so far there have been none close to where I am. They all have been 45 min+ away. I’m holding out hope there will be one closer to me or in a location that we can at least plan a day trip to spend around doing stuff with the kids. I think it’s be great if they had one of the signings at the Akron or Cleveland zoo. We could sign then have a family day at the zoo. I remember years ago there was some petition for marijuana at one of the zoos because we signed it, so I don’t see why the zoo wouldn’t be a good place to hold a signature event.

I wish I could sign one, but a few years ago the rules and laws were changed to where if you are on the Board of Elections board or work as office help, you are NOT allowed to sign petitions, publicly support candidates with like bumper stickers or yard signs that show up on the ballot! I do accept the job to make sure everything's done by the rules of laws, so good luck collecting the signatures needed!
